We had grabbed a few beers to entertain though there were a number of them that the keg was already tapped unfortunately. There was large outdoor seating area with a small outdoor stage as well, probably for day concerts. A jazz band was setting up inside the play for the night though which was nifty. Food was decent. I had gotten the grilled cheese and fries. Others had gotten burgers and chicken tenders, and there were mozzarella sticks to share. Fries came out hot which was nice, but nothing's gonna wow you on that end. Oil definitely needed to be changed though to be honest. Can be good for certain purposes, but misses on other marks.

The second time we were told on the phone our order would be ready in twenty minutes. Forty minutes later we were still waiting. We don't know if the food was good or not because we haven't actually been successful in retrieving our food from this establishment. The restaurant is always crowded so there must be something desirable about it, but if you want your food as a family of four or you don't want to wait excessively long periods of time then go somewhere else. We tried, they didn't. Never again for our family!

The pressed tin ceiling, antique mirrors, and decor provide an historic and upscale ambiance. The cocktail menu and spirit selection are extensive. The servers were very friendly and attentive, and you could tell they truly liked their jobs. Our server shared some interesting history on the building, the bar, and the decor and furnishings. He also offered some brunch suggestions for the next day. We liked this place so much we returned later. They closed earlier than expected but we were offered the opportunity to order a drink to go, an unexpected but welcome option. This is a classy and upscale bar option in a college town where that isn't the norm.

I frequently travel around Mississippi and the South for work and found the Cotton House to be a…read morebeautiful hotel and overall great stay. When it came to service however, it was severely lacking. Slow, understaffed and rude. I like to look at how a restaurant or bar's higher staff treat their employees. Bar Fontaine's managing staff should be VERY ashamed. I heard management tell off a server and bartender for making a very basic mistake and when I asked them how they liked working there, they simply replied "if I could do it over I would." According to them, the management is super nice to the customers but not to the employees constantly starting drama and making it difficult for an employee to keep their job. The head chef is also apparently a real a-hole and says inappropriate suggestive comments to their female staff as well, the server was telling me. When I was walking out of the hotel on the last day of my stay I encountered one of the managers and talked to them to see how they would treat me. It was an older woman with glasses. She treated me like an old friend which normally I would have enjoyed but this time I was absolutely disgusted. Just from what I was told, I will not be giving service to them again and will not stay at the hotel.
