I am always weirded out and surprised when establishments require cash only. However, thanks to other Yelp reviews I was well prepared! I figured I would grab a chille rellano burrito, the usual that I order when I'm attempting to evaluate the quality and consistency of a Mexican dish. I also ordered a horchata. The burrito appeared to be a good size, but when I tasted it the flavor fell short. Whereas I'm a fan of a soft and cheesy pepper, this pepper tasted undercooked and rubbery with a minimal amount of cheese. The accompanying rice and beans were not flavorful at all. I would also like to think horchata is a good choice for an accompaniment, but this one just tasted like sugar without many hints of cinnamon or the rice. Their specials seem pretty reasonable, but my entire bill was $12, which I thought was pretty steep. If I do return it may be to try their specials. read more

I've been here quite a few times and enjoy the food. Every visit has always been pleasant. My most recent order was a phone order for pick up. The gentleman who took my order was friendly. When I walked in to pick up my order, I gave my name and he immediately knew which order was mine (he repeated what I ordered before even reaching for my food) and asked if there was anything else I wanted. I paid in cash and didn't have exact change so he kindly didn't charge me the change. I recommend coming here. My food was delicious and prepared quickly which was nice since I was starving. Burito suizo dinner comes with rice and beans. $9.95 Back story Stumbled upon this place by accident 3 months ago names El Burrito Jr. I have eaten at El Burrito Loco and El Burrito Tapitios but when i read El Burrito Jr it caught my eye. The order Turns out they only take cash but luckily i had a $20 bill. Standard expected Burrito Suizo although does come with a nice pool of diced tomatoes On and around the burrito. Thinner cut chopped steak than most however char grilled kind of taste. Very filling and reasonably priced. Rice and beans came with 4 chips and pretty much what i expected. Ordered a Taco dinner, enchilada dinner, and a quesadilla platter. When we got home with our food, they only gave us the tacos - the dinner is supposed to come with refried beans and rice too. The tacos were a new recipe and some of the most bland tacos we've ever tasted - plus they were mushy and falling apart too (could barely even pick one up). The sides of hot sauces they usually give were wrong too - we were given sides of enchilada sauce instead. We spend almost $40 and weren't given the right food - but have no way to bring it back because they don't give out receipts and take only cash. Hadn't been here in a year, and a female face was a surprise but a pleasant one. Sweet young woman came from behind the counter to hold the door for my old self. Didn't pay attention to prices in general, but my 3-tamale dinner seemed to reflect the current inflation in food prices. I was surprised that my bill with drink was over $15. Everything was delicious. Masa was moist and firm around tamales, filling was generous and tasty. Rice was fluffy, beans just the right consistency and flavor. Carrots and jalapeños tender crisp. Review is based on 1 visit. Cute and clean place. I would try it again. I ordered a taco salad and a order of guacamole and chips. My total was $14.75. The guac was very good / enough for two people with an ample supply of chips. I did not see or ask for a price but think it must have been about $6.50. The Taco salad was in a big shell which I don't ever eat. The contents were a bit too soggy and wet for my liking cause there is no rice. Beans at the bottom with very tasty and ample chicken plus some shredded lettuce and cheese on top. Offered a choice of sauces. Service was quick and with a smile. Not sure I will have the taco salad again but would try other things like enchiladas. read more

Food was excellent. I thought the rice was pretty bland. The beans are a good consistency and flavor. I had a steak taco dinner. The steak was good and no gristle was found. Have been here three or four times now -- and each time the food has been delicious. Usually we just get tacos, though I had a chimichanga here and it was what I was hoping for. Hurrah for those little cojito cheese balls all over. The avocado tacos today were pretty incredible -- seemed even more robust than I remembered. They're really, really worth a try. Also got a couple chicken tacos that were super tender. Honestly, the scariest thing about ordering there is that I've read these Yelp reviews about them being gruff, but the guys behind the counter have actually always been plenty nice. I am so sorry but I have to give these folks a F. Not only did they not have Taquitos, but the burrito i had was not good at all. It was dirty, and no one inside, that should of tipped me off. the rice was hard (stale?) and there wasn't ANYTHING redeemable about the place at all. With so many other options, this place will soon be closed down. Taco bell is a better option in lemont, otherwise head into old lemont and there is a mexican place there with much better food, the name escapes me at the moment. I thought it was lots of food for the money, but the food wasn't particularly good. I've driven by it hundreds of times over the years, and after trying it I'll continue driving by Guacamole was at least a day old, meat was chewy and at least a couple days old. Worst customer service ever, and that is from the owner. It never fails, I'm almost expecting him to say what are you doing here, don't you have a better place to go? First time I went there I got chorizo tacos and some beans. They were great, so I haven't changed my order since then. Honestly, I haven't tried anything else there. I go with chorizo tacos on corn tortillas with cilantro, onions, cheese and lime, and I top them off with some salsa verde. Muy delicioso! The beans are great, too. read more

I have never had a problem with el burrito jr. The food is delicious and there is no ridiculous wait time. The man that was working the cash register yesterday evening was extremely kind. Not sure why people don't like it. It's fast and tasty! Their tacos are huge, as is the grande burrito.

We order lunch or dinner maybe once a month from here. I have had the enchiladas and carne Assad dinners and it's been good and fairly priced. My wive goes for the steak tacos, particularly on Taco Tuesday. Also love the fresh guacamole. read more

It's the closest burrito joint nearby and has been pretty reliable for tasty goods. The food isn't quite what I was used to getting when I lived in Southern California for a while where Mexico is only a 2-hour drive ... but it's actually better than some of my old favorites in the area here (from when I was younger) in that at least their burritos aren't full of lettuce and other non-traditional extras. I do not enjoy rubbery nasty pieces of steak in more than 40% of my burrito. I can take a piece or two, but literally EVERY BITE had a chunk of rubbery grossness in it.BAD BAD BAD. My wife like there tacos, that's why I suffer. Try FRONT STREET CANTINA much better quality. read more
