A little mom and pop shop. I'm wondering why the reviews were so horrible. I read and was horrified to learn there was spoiled cheese and flies in the food. I thankfully did not have that experience. I ordered 2 pupusas 1 rice based and another regular masa. The rice base was delicious and fresh. My mother got the corn tamale and it was dry. My father got the caldo de pollo and he liked it quite a lot. I tried the rice and the salad and it was okay, pretty basic but overall well. The ensalada (fruit drink) was good, the fruit was fresh but it was overly sweet. Service was friendly I felt horrible as they took us in at 08pm when they close at 0830pm. But food was served quickly and patiently. It's pretty small and intimate however they do have a bigger space but it was already closed I hope this place invests in AC because it was uncomfortably HOT inside the establishment. Parking is Prairie limited best advice just to find street parking Service is great, super friendly however, the prices are deceiving on the menu since they have different prices in English than in Spanish The food was delicious. THE CHEESE IN MY PUPUSA WAS SPOILED AND THE WAITRESS WAS SOOOO RUDE ABOUT IT. I really tried to give this place a go because it seems to be a mom and pops type of place and I always try and spend my money on local business. But what happened today made me not want to ever spend my money there again. I got a breakfast plate that came with a pupusa which I saved for last. One bite into the pupusa and I could tell that the cheese was off. In denial, I took another bite. Yup, the cheese was bad. I told the waitress that my cheese was bad and she said she would go speak to the kitchen. She comes back and puts my check on the table. I look at it and I'm shocked to see that I was charged full price and she never ever addressed my issue with my food. I walked up to the counter and I told her that I assumed she brought me the check because maybe they didn't want to replace my pupusa and I maybe was discounted the pupusa. With the worst attitude ever, she said in Spanish "well I don't know what you want me to do because I asked the kitchen and they said the cheese is fine." I looked at her dead in the eyes and said, " Do you think I would make that up? Do you want to taste it yourself? You can see I spit it back into my napkin and the rest of the pupusa is still there." She said again that she didn't know what I wanted her to do because the kitchen said that the The cheese was fine. She said maybe the salsa I put on it was bad. First of all, NO. I know what cheese tastes like and I know what bad cheese tastes like. And EITHER WAY I COULDN'T EAT ANYWAY EVEN IF IT WAS ONLY THE SALSA BECAUSE I PUT IT ON MY PUPUSA. I was flabbergasted and livid at the audacity at thi point. I told her that I don't even care for them to replace it, but that I think it's unfair for me to pay something that I couldn't eat not because I didn't want to, but because I literally could not. I asked her if she thought it was fair that I should pay for that full meal she scoffed and said again with a horrible attitude that she would remove the coffee from the bill and that I should be more than happy with that because it cost much more than the pupusa. First of all the pupusas are 4.55, coffee is 4.75. I understand what she means in terms of it probably was cheaper because it came part of a bigger plate, but it was the attitude and the straight out gaslighting that did it for me. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER *** My FIL recently visited this place as he used to like the food and friendly staff until 2 days ago that he hit rock bottom. He requested a Sopa de Patas. Upon getting it he smelled something weird and the taste was not good. He told the waitress/waiter who agreed to exchange it but under the conditions he was going to be charge for both soups. My FIL declined the offer but still had to pay for the soup he didn't eat. I am sorry he we will not longer go to this place nor order food from it. Please be careful when you eat and expect to double pay if you don't like the food. We used to like as we had never had any issues but I don't think is fair to make a customer pay for something he didn't eat instead or offer to replace it with something else without having to double charge the client. This place is pretty horrible. I placed an order for pupusas and they missed half of it! Even when I repeated the order back because the bags felt pretty light, they assured me the whole order was there. The pupusas have no flavor unless you count greasy for flavor and most of them had multiple slits cut into them as if they were checking that they were cooked. The ones that didn't have slits were hard and difficult to chew. I've had bad pupusas before but these were just horrible. We threw out at least half of what we bought. read more
