We use to go here 2-3 a month, last night I got a togo order. Ordered off the website. Come to find out it was an old menu. Expected to pay $30, and ended up paying $48. Everything has doubled in price. They are much finer restaurants, Mexican restaurants than this we will not be going there again. They don't tell you it's doubled in price in fact he just handed me a new menu where I thought I would be paying seven dollars for tacos turned out to be $15. We have supported this restaurant for quite some time. If you want a good Mexican food go to the restaurant of exit19. If you're gonna have pay this kind of money that's a much better price at the other place. read more

A big shout out to the staff and kitchen here at El Bigotes!!! When a local country club dropped the ball for our camera club's Christmas dinner, we called to see if they could accommodate our 20 members and spouses. They graciously welcomed us and put us in our own area. The food and drinks arrived very promptly. The food was great, the service was great, no problem providing separate checks. Stopped in this joint as a backup to other choices which were either too busy or too pricey. Typically Mexican is Mexican, when it comes to food. Quick, easy, and usually pretty satisfying. The outside of El Bigotes is a bit "Old Fort" looking, kind of a bunker style architecture. The inside is standard with TV's playing and fiesta party decoration everywhere. Staff were not overly friendly, however there was one guy who kept standing in the corner (I'll call him "The Vulture") staring at the few tables still being served, I guess to ensure someone cleans them the second they are finished. A bit creeper-esque. Salsa was decent, however most likely came from a jar and had a bit of ketchup flavor to it. Beer choices were light with only the regular American standards and the ever present Dos Equis and Modelo. I ordered the Supreme Nachos, which were supposed to come with the standard pork, beef, lettuce, sour cream, etc. Of course they had a picture in the menu which probably came from Pinterest, of a mountain of chips piled high and looked magnificent. What came out of the kitchen was highly undesirable as a low lying plate of bagged chips with half beef and half pork, with a side plate of lettuce, a dollop of sour cream in the middle and a single tomato slice. Check out the picture of another review for this gem. I'd say avoid this place if you can, but if you are reeeeeeallly looking for a bit of Mexican flair than by all means come on in. Wonderful Gorditas de Pollo at El Bigotes. I could eat one everyday. Eating one now for breakfast that I took home last night. These are like a tamale in that it is a corn dough ball that is fried, split open and filled with chicken cheese, lettuce and cilantro. Served with a savory tamale sauce. We also had chicken burritos which were pretty mild and the Chile Rellenos that gained some heat the closer you got to the stem where the seeds live. Personable, engaging and entertaining staff, they carry 4-5 plates of food on their arms at a time. I think they try to outdo each other sometimes. Just tell them what you are hungry for and they will get you want you want. We had a good time with some good food. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. I come here at least twice a month, but would like to come more. The service is prompt and friendly. But what you want to know about is the food. The standard fair is standard. If you go with old favorites you will get a decent meal. If you want an experience then I really suggest going outside your comfort zone. I wish I had the menu in front of me so I could be specific, but that will have to wait for an update. I will make one solid recommendation and that is to try a torta. It is a Mexican version of a sub and truly a pleasant mouthful. read more

I am not one to complain, but the negative experience I had at El Bigotes was unlike any other. The servers were quite rude, and acted like asking for a singular cup of salsa (to feed a family of seven) was an act of Congress. The only table set up for larger families was placed right in front of the restrooms, and unpleasant smells definitely filled our nostrils as we were trying to enjoy our meal. We were pleasantly surprised! Just 9/10 of a mile off of I 81 -well worth the drive! Any of their tacos were delicious. The salsa could be improved on but I'm picky. My husband says it was still good salsa. Service was excellent and the restaurant was very clean. read more

Our friend suggested lunch here and are we glad we listened! All hand made food from the burrito s to chili relano. The red sauce was obviously made in house as was the salsa. The refried beans were on poi T! Can't believe how inexpensive it is to eat here and how good the food is! read more

Great Mexican food as usual, we come here with our in-laws whenever we come to visit. They added alcohol to their menu as well. They didn't have chicken tortilla soup but offered to make me a chicken soup, thank you, it was wonderful for on the fly of the moment and not on the menu. This has become our go-to restaurant for Mexican food since they opened in the old Peppermill building. Their Corri Pollo, quesadillas, and fajitas are great. Worst Mexican food ever. Ordered cheese sauce to go with chips and salsa. It was runny like milk with no taste and cold. Since the chips and salsa were unsatisfactory we decided to just get a Taco Salad because how can you mess up a Taco Salad? Well it is definitely possible. The lettuce in the salad was wet when it was put into the shell and once the salad was stirred up it was like taco soup with lettuce. I am absolutely appalled at the service I just received at El Bigotes. In all of my many, many visits here, I have never been treated this way. My fiance and I loved eating at El Bigotes and have never left there without spending at least $75 on a bill (plus a gracious tip). I would consider us "regulars" to a certain degree. This Sunday evening, we happened to walk in 15 minutes til closing, expecting to be seated because of the restaurant full of people in front of us. Yet there was a discerning look on the employee's face who greeted us... The employee told us that it was "almost ten minutes til closing..." And he refused to allow us to enjoy a sit down meal. So, instead we offered to pay for a take out order. And our business was still turned away.. If you turn your customers away BEFORE your business has closed, those customers are less likely to come back. Especially if you're going to turn your regulars away then you may as well **ADJUST YOUR HOURS!** I have worked in the restaurant business for more than five years and how you treat your customers is what decides if you fly or die in the restaurant industry and also happens to affect your repuatation around town. What if we had been first time customers? Everything about the way we were treated was unprofessional and totally improper. My fiance and I walked in at exactly 13 minutes til closing (8:47). For any business to EVER turn a customer away or to treat them any differently because they came in at closing is the worst business practice I have ever seen. As part of the service industry I have served family's of 6 or more that walked in at 8:59 with a SMILE on my face!! This was simply beyond unprofessional. As a business you rely upon your customers to keep the doors open. I cannot believe how we were treated at a place we have patronized since their beginning. Customer service and making your customers happy is what owning a business is all about. El Biglotes just turned money away at the door.. We will NEVER be patronizing El Bigotes' business again! Also - I will be SURE to tell every customer that comes into MY restaurant that El Bigotes is crap, they are definitely NOT customer - friendly and to never patronize them!!! read more

I tried this place at lunch today. It looked clean and they were certainly quick with my takeout order. I got the chicken burrito and it was sooo bland. The rice and beans too. The burrito might and been helped with some salsa and cheese on top but it looked like bare tortilla wrapped around a good amount of unseasoned chicken. Will give it another shot if for no other reason than it has more selection that the other Mexican restaurants in town. read more
