We waited for a while, but no one came over or explained where we should sit. Eventually, I went to the register and told the waitress that it was our first time there and asked if we could sit anywhere or if there was a specific process we needed to follow. She acted as though she did not speak English, which made the interaction uncomfortable. However, when I went to pay our bill later, she spoke English very clearly. Throughout our entire visit, she never introduced herself, checked on us, or offered us drink refills. What was especially disappointing was feeling as though we were being treated differently because of our appearance. I am from Brazil, and I know that if someone visits a Brazilian restaurant or business, we would make an effort to welcome and assist them regardless of their background or the language they speak. I can speak some Spanish and understand it when spoken, but I should not be expected to speak Spanish simply because I may look Hispanic. The one positive interaction we had was with the gentleman who brought our food. He was very kind, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, we felt invisible for most of our visit. The food was excellent, and we would recommend it based on the food alone, but the customer service definitely needs to be addressed. Every customer deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and treated equally, regardless of their appearance or language.

The Price: It's cheap compared to other restaurants that are similar in the city, I think the prices are reasonable. The Value: The dishes are large, delicious, and inexpensive, you get a lot of authentic food for what you pay. The Parking: There's a small rock lot on either side of the building that gets pretty full, but I've never had a problem getting a spot. My Order: I love the loroco pupusa and agua Jamaica, I would order this over and over. I want to try the whole menu! The Conclusion: Try it if you're looking for an affordable and authentic meal, you won't be disappointed!

The ones i ordered were a buck or two so it's a great value. If i had known they were so cheap when I ordered I would have gotten 2 or 3 other flavors to bring home for later. A pupusa is sort of like a Southern corn johnny cake that has filling stuffed inside then grilled. (Well that's how I how i had to sell it to my Mom anyways) It had great corn flavor and was fried nice and crispy on the outside and served piping hot. The order came with a side of Salvadoran-style pickled slaw made from cabbage and carrots. It was fairly spicy and still had good crunch. It goes really well with the sweetness of the corn. These make a nice little snack to munch on while out running errands and are much lighter and healthier than grabbing a burger and fries.

Enjoyed a cheap drink while we waited for our takeout order. Food was plentiful, and while we intentionally overordered, I cannot say enough about affordability. The restaurant has both takeout and dine in options. There is plenty of seating both in the front and rear of the restaurant. They have all your typical Salvadorean staples like the famous Pupusas as well as yuca con chicharrón. The typical breakfast dishes are also great. You can't go wrong with any of their dishes. However I suggest you dine in and have some fresh made pupusas revueltas. They are basically tortillas stuffed with Mozzarella cheese and grounded pork. You can also get them with just cheese or just pork. For a cold drink try the Horchata, it's made from a grounded down seed. For a hot drink try the Atol de Elote, made from corn.....deliciously smooth and velvety. The bakery has typical cookies and sweet breads, they are all on display for you to pick and choose. The store has candies, chips, medicine, arts and crafts & shirts all imported from El Salvador. If your missing home this place will take you back. If you want the Salvadorean experience than you have come to the right place! The staff is friendly and efficient, place is casual and laid back. Food is cooked fresh so you may wait a little, be patient. If in Charlotte stop by and get a little taste of my country you most definitely will not be disappointed!

My 2 stars are going to the workers only, everything else was bad. The Price: It was affordable, the chicken tamale I tried was less than $2 and most menu items were similarly priced, but you get what you pay for. The Parking: It's a small plaza so I can imagine that parking can get tight at busy hours. We went during lunch and there was plentiful parking. My Order: I had an unfortunate experience here, and I won't be back. My family is Salvadoran, so we love trying all the restaurants in town. I ordered a tamale, pupusas, and an assortment of baked goods to bring home. When I was eating my tamale I kept noticing crunchy bits in the chicken, and I pulled multiple bones out of my mouth in the first few bites. I found 4 bones inside my tamale that I could have choked on. This restaurant needs quality control immediately or they're going to go out of business. The rest of the food was dry and nothing to write home about. The Conclusion: Be careful, I don't recommend it.

I ordered the aforementioned Pupusas - 4 Cheese and Pork for $11.50 with Crudito included! These were good, not great, Pupusa - under-seasoned for my tastes (added a Rick Bayless (you must know who he is) measure of salt) and it was were I needed it to be - but still weak! Unfortunately the Crudito was very weak, barely fermented - a great side when done right, not the case here! This was not bad food, but there is better available, even as close as Los Primos, only several miles away! The combination of under-seasoning, lack of pork, and uneven grilling makes this more than a bit off the charts for best of show!
