The food is always great and their drinks. The service is quick and handled with great care, I never have to wait long waits for my order. Inside the restaurant feels like my tias house, everyone is talking to one another. It's my favorite Salvadoran restaurant in Katy. read more

The food is delicious! We love their horchata and pupusas. On weekends they can be very busy, but it worth the wait.

This place and staff has been around for years! I'm viet and my wife's Mexican and we stay eating the pupusas here!! Try it! Friendly staff and great food read more

Súper delicious! We got a desayuno de Huevos Rancheros, and tried the pupusas revueltas, frijol con queso, and jalapeño con queso. The service wasn't the best, but they were super packed and busy. Overall our waitress tried and made an effort despite the restaurant being so hectic. Would definitely come back! read more

Great place, great environment, excellent food and great service. Is a good family friendly place restaurant.

This place is so good ! I'm glad they moved locations because they have so much more parking ! The food was hot and fresh and they were so friendly! They speak English and Spanish! Please go get some pupusas! They've been in the community for so long ! It's delicious! I love getting the yucca con chiccaron as an appetizer! Ask for extra limes ! read more

Horrible, got there took forever to get a server, drinks took 10mins for 4 people, the place wasn't even packed maybe a few more families, but that's it. I order a side of French fries took 30 mins and they were cold so I sent them back, brought one dish and everyone else waited 20 more mins for their food, we ordered pupusas they didn't bring no salsa no curtido, forgot my tamale, didn't bring anything until we asked, so disappointing, literally our server came to our table twice the entire time there, this is so ridiculous. read more

$6 + tax for 3 empanadas a little bigger than size of my airpod case seems really expensive. I understand everything is more pricey now, but please ensure the proportion of the food is matching the price being paid. Additionally, the pupusas we ordered were a bit burned. My family and I have came for years. So the argument the empanadas have always been this size is definitely wrong because we have been served empanadas for years from this establishment much bigger.

Delicious, authentic, quick service if you don't go during high traffic time. Courteous, been going here since 2008 ... I think! I don't make pupusas anymore! Why kill myself with all that work when they do it for a fair price? Salvadorian authentic food takes A LOT of work and time. Please be patient. Don't show up starving... but do show up with an appetite. You'll want to try everything. BTW empanadas are sweet plantain balls filled with white cream. Not a pastry or meat filled. Please tip well. Clean and small place. read more

Wow!! I'm very picky about my food. I happened to be out and craving pupusas. This is where my GPS led me and omg!!! My only regret is not finding this sooner! The pupusas were spectacular and the "curtido" is one of the best that I've tried. It's got a little kick, but perfect for my palette. This place is highly recommended! You won't regret it!! read more

Good quality, fresh food! I love their papusas. A little pricey, but seems everything is now days.

We just ordered some pupusas and the prices online are wrong! $2.25 for 1 pupusa lol! $17.99 for 12 pupusas was what the online price said and we get there and their freaking 30$ Make sure you double check when ordering. Food is good but prob won't come back read more

Coming from a Salvadoran this is the best salvadorean restaurant in the Houston area. The consistency here is unmatched. The pupusas are decently sized not greasy and always super yummy! I have tried so many things from their menu as I live close by and have never ordered anything I don't like. I recommend the carne asada, yucca con chicharrón, tamles de elote fritos, and you can never go wrong with any of the breakfasts. Also I have to add that their horchata is the best and most authentic not overly sweet horchata de morro como se hace en El Salvador. Can't rave enough about this place! It's always really clean and the staff here is attentive and always very nice. read more

Real good Salvadoran food! We enjoy it everyone we dine in or pickup. Also they have a new location!

I placed an order for 18 Pupusas for 7 people at work. Over the phone, I asked if it came with curtido and salsa and they said no. They told me it would be an additional $ for curtido and salsa. So my order went from $46 for Pupusas to $72 when adding the curtido and salsa. I said no thank you. My friend called and asked why they said they're charging extra for that and she said "oh I don't know. It is included." So they tried to charge me for no reason. Then when I get there, they combined 7 diff kinds of Pupusas into the same 2 containers. So I didn't have a way of knowing what was what. When I asked them to separate the diff kinds, she told me "we charge for that". Then I asked for Togo containers so that I could try and separate the different ones and she told me again "we charge extra for that." Will not be going back. So sad because my school is right down the road and you would think they'd want repeat teacher business especially when we place large orders. read more

This place has really good pupusas! Their aguas frescas are delicious too. They are friendly ladies there serving you.

I keep coming back, because they don't disappoint and the waitresses are so sweet to us. My favorite thing to order here is pretty simple. A double order of refried beans and a chicken tamale. The beans are silky and full of flavor. Made from red and pinto beans, they may be different from the refried beans most people are used to which are made with just pinto beans. Mark usually orders the special, which is generally some type of beef. I've sneaked a few bites and I can vouch; it's tasty! Well seasoned and tender. You may be wondering... "Hey, isn't this place all about the pupusas?" Well, yes... that's true, but ever since I ordered that chicken tamale and had those beans, it's what I always want. The tamale is more like a Puerto Rican Pastele than a Mexican tamale and I just cant resist. But I have had the pupusas and they are tasty too. Stuffed with an assortment of meats and cheeses and accompanied by a tangy shredded cabbage condiment that may remind you of a less pungent and less spicy kimchee. It's perfect for cutting through the richness of the dish. Lastly, I must comment on the aguas frescas, I haven't asked, but I'm pretty sure they are fresh. It's been a long time since I had such good horchata and tamarindo. Really a treat! read more

El Amanecer - Nice clean bathroom - Latin American Near Me - Houston, Texas

So for those of you who don't know what El Amanecer means in Spanish, it mean dawn, sunrise, daybreak etc... Ive been to this place for a few years now but its been a while since Ive been back. My parents were craving some pupusas so I recommend this place from previous experience. First of all, nobody makes better pupusas then my mama! With that being said this place used to be close, but not this time. Still damn good, just not close to mama's. Horchata on the other hand reminded me of something my mama would make, delicious! Fried Yucca was bomb, possibly best fried Yucca around. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Called it in ahead of time & 20 minutes later success. Overall I recommend this place to anyone with the urge to indulge in some Salvadorian cuisine. read more

Second time in this place and the service is horrible. We asked for nueganos" and it literally tasted like a cold hash brown with honey I felt like I was at Burger King . I don't recommend this place at all. I understand that all places aren't the same, however, the waitress and owner weren't friendly when we told them that we didn't that food. They need to learn that customers come first. read more

Muy Rico esta es la tercera vez que venimos y nos gusto mucho y muy amables las meseras

I called this place to get a togo order and was on hold for about 10 min. And not even a true hold. The guy just put the phone down and i could hear them talking and working in the background. Got tired of waiting and hung up to call back. Once i did the phone was off like they purpose turned it off not to take orders. Drove up to the place it was busy, but not that busy to where you can't take a Togo order. The food was good, but not sure if worth the hassle. read more

El Amanacer isn't like a chain restaurant, with no shows or charades to reel you in. It's a family owned business where you'll be served by the sweetest Salvadorians in Cypress, with fresh pupusas and much more. That in itself, providing genuine service with great food, is what keeps so many, including myself, coming back to this low-key joint. While the pupusas, the main attraction, are absolutely delicious, I've found that the fried plantains are equally as good. They're served with refried beans and Salvadoran crema. I don't think I've had anything quite like them. Whenever I come through Cypress, I always find myself missing the amazing horchata this family makes as well. Truly an awesome spot! read more

If you call an order in, make sure you don't come right away; I made that mistake. It took about 30 minutes to get my order but it was really good and lady at counter was very nice and looked like she worked hard. Will come back again for the pupusas; I got the revueltas. read more

Hello pupusa lovers!!! This is the first time I tried this Salvadorian joint. It's a small and cute place. Family owned. All the tables were taken but two. So I decided to place an order to go. I ordered 6 pupusas and it took about 10mins to make. We tried calling a head of time and we were put on hold for more than 5 mins. I hung up and tried calling back and the call wouldn't go through. I figured they left the phone on the call and no one hung up. Pupusas were delicious! read more

In all honesty this establishment does NOT even deserve a star! My family and I got there at around 1:30 pm and did not have our food served until around 2:15! That's almost an hour!! It was extremely upsetting! We continued to order food because the flavor was a bit tasteful, but the wait was overwhelming! Whatever, we continued on to pay. At the checkout counter there was a bowl of candies and of course a family of 9, a very big party we continued on to take a few complimentary candies. Only 2 of us were able to grab a candy before one of the waiters went on the hide the candy bowl and began speaking under her breath, saying only one candy was allowed per person. At this point only two of us had gotten maybe just 2 pieces. Of course we felt offended went back and said excuse me? So the lady goes on to say "You are not allowed to grab more than a piece per person" Very rude tone and the other waiters went on saying many rude comments. I did say she was very rude and that's she's lost customers! When the waiter who attended us was walking outside alongside of us she told us the other girls stayed inside arguing and talking crap! Super upsetting and horrible customer service! Never going again! read more

You can't call ahead for a pick up order nor order online because they never answer the phone so they are loosing business and customers

Food is great, but I'm very disappointed that had go back because my order was incorrect. Then I was overcharged for something. I went back to retrieve my original missing items plus order two more pupusas. If the pupusas I ordered are $1.70 x 2 + tax = $3.68, why was I charged $5.68?! I think I was recharged for the 2 creama THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR! I was too annoyed to ask but this too many mistakes for me to ever go back. Check your order and check your receipt. read more

They were serving at a private function - great tacos, and friendly crew!

The food is excellent and the service is a little slow at times but due to the fact the food taste so good I will do the wait. My wife and I enjoyed the food very very much it's close to home and we have been to all the Papoosa places as well as the Carne Asada places around our area and this one has to be the best that we have found near this location. Try the ensalada de fruita. It's great. Highly recommend read more
