I placed an order for 18 Pupusas for 7 people at work. Over the phone, I asked if it came with curtido and salsa and they said no. They told me it would be an additional $ for curtido and salsa. So my order went from $46 for Pupusas to $72 when adding the curtido and salsa. I said no thank you. My friend called and asked why they said they're charging extra for that and she said "oh I don't know. It is included." So they tried to charge me for no reason. Then when I get there, they combined 7 diff kinds of Pupusas into the same 2 containers. So I didn't have a way of knowing what was what. When I asked them to separate the diff kinds, she told me "we charge for that". Then I asked for Togo containers so that I could try and separate the different ones and she told me again "we charge extra for that." Will not be going back. So sad because my school is right down the road and you would think they'd want repeat teacher business especially when we place large orders. read more

Coming from a Salvadoran this is the best salvadorean restaurant in the Houston area.The consistency here is unmatched. The pupusas are decently sized not greasy and always super yummy! I have tried so many things from their menu as I live close by and have never ordered anything I don't like. I recommend the carne asada, yucca con chicharrón, tamles de elote fritos, and you can never go wrong with any of the breakfasts. Also I have to add that their horchata is the best and most authentic not overly sweet horchata de morro como se hace en El Salvador. Can't rave enough about this place! I keep coming back, because they don't disappoint and the waitresses are so sweet to us. My favorite thing to order here is pretty simple. A double order of refried beans and a chicken tamale. The beans are silky and full of flavor. Made from red and pinto beans, they may be different from the refried beans most people are used to which are made with just pinto beans. Mark usually orders the special, which is generally some type of beef. I've sneaked a few bites and I can vouch; it's tasty! Well seasoned and tender. You may be wondering... "Hey, isn't this place all about the pupusas?" Well, yes... that's true, but ever since I ordered that chicken tamale and had those beans, it's what I always want. The tamale is more like a Puerto Rican Pastele than a Mexican tamale and I just cant resist. But I have had the pupusas and they are tasty too. Stuffed with an assortment of meats and cheeses and accompanied by a tangy shredded cabbage condiment that may remind you of a less pungent and less spicy kimchee. It's perfect for cutting through the richness of the dish. Lastly, I must comment on the aguas frescas, I haven't asked, but I'm pretty sure they are fresh. With that being said this place used to be close, but not this time. Still damn good, just not close to mama's. Horchata on the other hand reminded me of something my mama would make, delicious! Fried Yucca was bomb, possibly best fried Yucca around. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Called it in ahead of time & 20 minutes later success. I called this place to get a togo order and was on hold for about 10 min. And not even a true hold. The guy just put the phone down and i could hear them talking and working in the background. Got tired of waiting and hung up to call back. Once i did the phone was off like they purpose turned it off not to take orders. It's a family owned business where you'll be served by the sweetest Salvadorians in Cypress, with fresh pupusas and much more. That in itself, providing genuine service with great food, is what keeps so many, including myself, coming back to this low-key joint. While the pupusas, the main attraction, are absolutely delicious, I've found that the fried plantains are equally as good. They're served with refried beans and Salvadoran crema. I ordered 6 pupusas and it took about 10mins to make. We tried calling a head of time and we were put on hold for more than 5 mins. I hung up and tried calling back and the call wouldn't go through. In all honesty this establishment does NOT even deserve a star! My family and I got there at around 1:30 pm and did not have our food served until around 2:15! That's almost an hour!! It was extremely upsetting! We continued to order food because the flavor was a bit tasteful, but the wait was overwhelming! Whatever, we continued on to pay. At the checkout counter there was a bowl of candies and of course a family of 9, a very big party we continued on to take a few complimentary candies. Only 2 of us were able to grab a candy before one of the waiters went on the hide the candy bowl and began speaking under her breath, saying only one candy was allowed per person. At this point only two of us had gotten maybe just 2 pieces. Of course we felt offended went back and said excuse me? So the lady goes on to say "You are not allowed to grab more than a piece per person" Very rude tone and the other waiters went on saying many rude comments. I did say she was very rude and that's she's lost customers! When the waiter who attended us was walking outside alongside of us she told us the other girls stayed inside arguing and talking crap! I went back to retrieve my original missing items plus order two more pupusas. If the pupusas I ordered are $1.70 x 2 + tax = $3.68, why was I charged $5.68?!
