After a week of tapas, our family was looking for something different. I was craving Italian but in the heatwave wasn't up for walking too far. Also it was a Monday and all of the first few Italian places we looked at on Yelp were closed. Frustrated and hungry we left our hotel and walked just a few steps into the San Miguel Bajo square. This was the second or third place we passed, it said "pasta" on the outside menu so I said "let's go!" We never do that! We always check reviews but we were so hot, hungry and tired we just walked in. So glad those other places were closed. We all got exactly what we were craving. They have an English version of the menu. I actually ordered the kid's bolonase pasta and it was excellent. Husband got the small roasted chicken, it was very small in comparison to a US chicken, just a little bigger than a squab with a spicy dipping sauce. He liked it, we thought it was ok. Our son's sirloin steak was AMAZING - but pricey at $19.00, but it was so good and we hadn't had steak in weeks so worth it. The two meat dishes came with half a grilled baked potato which they both enjoyed and a small mixed green salad. The meal came with free tapas for the table (looked like a tiny wrap with delicious hummus inside one for each of us) and the best bread we've tasted in Spain. Warm rolls. Yum. The service was friendly and helpful. The price was slightly higher than we have been paying for our tapas meals but well worth it. We ate inside due to the extremely hot weather but there are tables on the square as well. It's always hard to find great food, even with online reviews, so we may even eat here again before we go. There menu wasn't overly large (which I prefer) but it had a nice selection of fish, pork, beef, pasta and tapas. read more
