Made a random stop here for some tacos to take home. Found parking in front, VIP style. Walked straight to the bar to place a To Go order and a tall glass of Modelo while I waited. I walked around to check out the place, it was mostly empty, ranchero music in the back ground, multiple flat screens with sports, videos and random advertisements. The dining room has booth and table seatings. The waitstaff were really cool, when my food arrived, they double checked to make sure everything was in order. We order the ceviche mixto, the Shrimp al mojo de ajjo, I think they use powder garlic in the butter, because it didn't taste anything like fresh garlic, we order a combination plate not flavorful at all, they said there would be Mariachi and we got there and it was only a trio, they charged $20 per song outrageous! Margaritas were $29.99 just the simple glass, they ask what type of alcohol do you want with the margarita, I told them the one it comes with, the waitress keep insisting we have several, and she started giving us a list so we choose what she offer, once, I got the bill she said it was extra since it was premium what we had ordered, Not impressed with the atmosphere. Very loud, the food gave someone in our party of 5 severe diarrhea. He stated it was the ceviche mixto... Not recommending, will not be going there again. I was back in SoCal visiting my parents last week and helping my dad organize his office when lunch time came around. We both had a craving for good Mexican food. I suggested El 7 Mares--my second visit, but definitely not my dad's. He's had an office in San Fernando for the past 55 years and is a longtime regular here, so I knew we were in good hands. He went with his usual lunch special: the grilled fish fillet. I tried the fish tacos this time, which came with sweet beans and rice on the side. Every meal starts with a simple salad, but the standout is the dressing. It tastes like a light cilantro aioli--super flavorful without being too heavy or overpowering (even for someone like me who isn't huge on cilantro). Honestly, 10/10 on that dressing. The tacos were excellent--packed with fish and served on double-layered corn tortillas. There was so much filling, you could've easily made an extra taco or two. Fresh, well-seasoned, and totally hit the spot. Another 10/10. Pop was clearly happy with his usual and even dipped into my beans, which he gave a thumbs-up. If you're anywhere near San Fernando, El 7 Mares is definitely worth a visit. It's a local gem, and I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in town. read more

The food is tasty and the lunch specials are a great deal, but every time I come here, they are so slow and not attentive to the customers. I am writing this review based on chips and salsa, margarita and service. We stopped here for a margarita and it was delicious. A perfectly balanced margarita just plain old school. No frills! Perfectly poured in a large coupe glass as it should be. Friendly and accommodating staff. We were also served chips and salsa with 2 different salsas. What a treat! These were fresh chips and they were warm and inviting. I can not stand store bought chips at a restaurant and I do not like it when authentic restaurant's try to serve me stale chips. AcK! This review is long overdue. The last time I came was approximately 12 years ago! Completely forgotten about it until my parents invited me to dinner. The mixed reviews have me baffled. We went on a Sunday and they had mariachis. The service was excellent! The restaurant was packed and family friendly. The food was delicious! Hands down better than I expected and remembered. It's worth going and trying out. Im very big on customer service oriented establishments, this place did not disappoint. My wife and I came here to celebrate Father's Day with her family. This place was what her dad wanted since it's one of his favorite place. We called ahead to see how long the wait would be for a party of 6 and they told us about 15 minutes. When we arrived to the place, parking is limited but we were lucky to find a spot. When we checked in, they said the wait would be 5 minutes since my wife wanted a booth. We got seated next to the projector screen and stage. I got the Carne asada and breaded shrimp that came with potatoes wedges and rice. I thought the Carne asada was dried and didn't have much flavor. I added some Pico de gallo from my wife dish to add some flavors to it. The potatoes wedges were fine to me with ketchup added. My wife said her dish was fine but they didn't give her a lot of meat. There was like only 1 waitress working so the service was slower than usual but we understood the situation. They also told us that there no more live mariachi band there anymore. read more

First off the food was good. I had the Chile Rellenos with Rice and Beans. Sadly I could only eat a few bites because I couldn't stand the over the top loud music that was playing here. Like it hurt my ears loud. The people at my table had to literally scream across at each to hear what the other was saying. Not only were the live Mariachi bands ridiculously loud but even when they weren't playing and the regular stereo was on, the staff would crank up the volume to a horrific level. It had been a while since I'd gone to this restaurant. I used to go all the time when I worked and lived in the area. We decided on this spot last minute on my birthday due to a change of plans. I called and spoke to Aida, she's been a waitress there for over 20 years! Also an amazing waitress,! she remembered me right away from back in the day and she was able to get me a reservation for the same day at the perfect table, which was so nice and reassuring! We got there a bit later than the reservation was for, but they still held my favorite table in the corner (that I requested ) big enough for my party of 6 and then some! And perfect to watch the Mariachi show! The service was excellent from beginning to end! The food and drinks were very delicious as well! The Mariachi never disappoints! My 7 year old son enjoyed himself more than any of us which made me a happy mom! Nayeli was our waitress and she was super attentive and sweet! She was on top of everything, very patient and she did an amazing job! Her personality is perfect for her job! My son fell in LOVE with her and she was nice enough to take a picture with him. The manager goes out of his way to thank you for coming and to let you know that mariachi is played on the weekend. We ordered the molcajete ( chorizo, cheese, steak, chicken, fish, nopal served on a hot stone mortar and pestle-type bowl ) I believe it was about $14 but defined well worth it. Molcajete is a dish you can share, it also comes with a side of delicious Mexican rice and beans. I ordered the fish taco combo ( about $5.00) recommended by the waitress. I was a little hesitant and wanted to stay faithful to my Rubio's fish tacos. So glad she talked me into it! Do yourself a favor and try not to fill up on the delicious chips and salsa.
