Last month we noticed something going on with it. They came out and let us know that the tree was suffering from a red maple fungus, it was very severe and not going to get better. The previous owners had booked him to take care of it, and we wish in retrospect we'd canceled the service right away. Reon did not provide us with a detailed, written estimate. He bargained with us by text message and pressured us when we balked at his high price saying he'd give us a "reduced" price if we let him do the job that day. When he was delayed because of some property access issues, we went ahead and got an estimate from another, well-established local company. Reon's price was $1,287 more than the other company's quote for expedited same-week service to cut apart the tree, haul it away, and grind the stump! Note: we have worked with this other company before and have no reason to mistrust their estimate. Unfortunately, Reon completed the job before we could cancel, and he left a messy pile of roots/wood around the stump in our yard. He said his estimate (you know, the one we didn't see) did not include stump removal - so much for the "inclusive tree removal" promised by text at our closing! Please be EXTREMELY cautious if you are looking at using Reon's Monster Tree Service. Make sure you (1) get a detailed, written estimate (not a text message) and (2) a competitive bid before you agree to let Reon do work for you.
