Unfortunately, I have to give a 1 star. I don't review much and hate to bear bad news/negative feedback, but in order to prevent another traveler from enduring the poor service here, I must. My girlfriend and I were visiting Stockholm all the way from Los Angeles. We stayed in the Hilton Slussen as it is close to the water and surrounded by things to do, and we had seen there was a Swedish restaurant inside that we wanted to try (Eken).
Service is the main issue here, the only reason there is a star is for the decent food. Otherwise, it would be a 0 star.
Before I get to the service, please know that Yelp, Google, and the Hilton website list the business hours as open until 12 midnight, and there is a full bar and lounge within the restaurant. We sat down at roughly 10:15PM and were walking back up to the room before 11:30.
Our waitress from the start seemed very clumsy and rushed, even though there was only one other table seated. She kept hitting things on our table, she forgot to tell the chef no tomatoes on the burger for my girlfriend (she is allergic) and simply just said oops I forgot and did not offer to fix it, and was all around "aloof". As time went on, she and the rest of the staff began shutting down the restaurant, which was extremely loud, ruining what was supposed to be a nice dinner with a view for us on our last night. It became explicitly clear that she was rushing everything to get home, even though they were supposed to be open for a bit more. This was to the point that she was even CARRYING HER CAR KEYS IN HER HAND AS SHE RAN MY CREDIT CARD AT THE TABLE.
Transition to the bill. We wanted to have one more glass of wine before heading up, which we had plenty of time for, but instead of asking if there was anything else we needed, she just brought the check. When we asked if we could get one more glass, she just looked at us and told us to go to the bar. Irritated, we tried going to the bar. The bartender was also apparently wanting to leave early as he served a beer from the tap to someone in front of us, then looked at us and said, "We're closed," with a look that said how dare we try to order a drink to take upstairs 35 minutes before I'm supposed to close down. Yet he had just poured a glass for a customer right in front of us 10 seconds earlier? I looked at my watch and it was 11:25, so do you close at 11:25? 11:20? Guess it must be a European thing for bars to close at these off times(sarcasm). Maybe the guy in front of us was Carl Gustaf, King of Sweden.
HOWEVER, the Hilton itself is great. Their main restaurant, far from it.
Go to this restaurant if your idea of a nice dinner with a nice view also includes terrible, unprofessional service. You'd be better off at McDonalds. read more
