Miss M.

A friend of mine and I ended up here after a bit of an adventure trying to get dinner during the rush hour. First we started out trying to get a seat at Burgers, Barrels and Beer. Did. Not. Happen. Of course, why not have another insanely packed burger restaurant in Stockholm!? It was so busy that we stood there for 10 minutes and no one would even look at us to take our names down. We ended up just walking out. THEN, we went over to the Flying Elk and the whole dining room was booked up and the walk-in bar area was completely packed full of people too! I was starting to feel a bit hungry and grumpy about the situation and then the wonderful, wonderful man working the host stand said "hey, why don't you go next door to Gaston? They have the same menu and it's pretty empty!" I was like.... "WHAAAA? You just made my day Mr!" We went next-door and he was right! While everything else in their big chain of restaurants (Frantzén, The Flying Elk, The Flying Elk Bar and The Corner Club) was packed and totally booked this little wine bar was almost empty! I've been to this wine bar once before and for some reason never knew that they served food too!? Let alone the amazing menu from The Flying Elk!!!? I think I was a little afraid to come back here after the first time because I was scared to drop a serious amount of Kronor again on their bottled wine (Yeah, it's pretty easy when the some bottles are like 2,000-3,000:- or more!) However, Now that I spent some more time in here, I would totally come back!! They do have some economical (and seriously good) wine options to go with the food from next-door. What we had last night was a bottle for about 850:- and I was in love with it! You can also go even cheaper or just do it by the glass (but I always want more than one glass so a bottle makes more sense if i'm sharing!) The waitstaff were also so nice and totally indifferent to the fact that I didn't want to spend too much money this time. They treated us with the same respect and amount of attention (or, more!) as they had the time before when I was "making it rain" (slang for spending a lot of money--for the Swedes who don't watch rap videos. Haha!) There was better service here last night than I have had at any restaurant in Sweden to this day. Hands down. I kinda wish I could keep my little secret about coming here instead of The Flying Elk, but I just can't! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a good meal and good wine--so, like... everyone basically! TIp: I asked if we could Initial our cork and put it on the wall (the walls are built to hold wine corks) and they let us! Just ask and you can do the same! So cute! Tip: The BLT and the Fish and Chips will knock your socks off! I'm also pretty sure they have some of the best fries here in Stockholm! ;)

Really good wine!

A very belated review for The Burgundy for their delicious burger! We came here to pass time after…read moreputting our names down to snag a seat at Tweed Bar next door. I ordered the burger which came with fries and it was definitely one of the tastiest burgers I've had. The restaurant is quite small and cozy. The servers were very nice and the food came out quickly! I can imagine this to be a nice place for a date night. It seemed to be filled with both locals and visitors as it is located in a hotel. Highly recommend if you're visiting Stockholm :) [97/100]

They refer to themselves as a 'food court' restaurant, which is a disservice: the food is WAY better than food court fare, indeed it is gourmet. You just happen to be able to order from the different menus of the different restaurants. The service was very friendly & efficient. And, best, there was none of the usual 'Stockholm Lag' of 45-60 mins between starter & entrees. We started with charcuterie (really, really good), and cod with celery & sea foam (brilliant), and the steak tartare. The tartare was amazing. In fact, it was so good, I snarled like a deranged dog when Sweetie tried to share some. For our main, we all had the burger, which was damned good. The fries were good, but not as good as other places in Stockholm (Nybrogatan 38, par example...). The wine list was good, & reasonably priced. The bar was cozy, with an awesome selection of spirits. The Burgundy was really good, & we'll definitely be back.

They offer a good selection of mainly ecological wines by the glass. Three to four sparkling wines, and around 10 each of white and reds offered by the glass as well as a handful of artisanal beers and some other beverages represents a good selection. The wines are in general good quality, perhaps not the most exciting ones but well selected wines of good quality and at a pretty good price level. Most wines by the glass can also be had in smaller taster glasses. They also have a small selection of snacks and simple dishes to nibble on while sipping your wine. The place is nicely designed and in summer the outdoor seating is really pleasant. The service is friendly but my main objection to the place is how they organized things. All orders need to be placed at the bar so no table service. That would be fine if they were reasonably fast but on the past two occasions we have skipped ordering a second glass due to the line being to long and not moving at all. They would really make more money and be a more pleasant place if they had table service.

The area around Hornstull has been missing a real wine-scene for some time and the team running…read moreLinje Tio, Tjoget and Bierhaus decided to remedy that with opening a proper wine bar housed in the same space already holding Linje Tio and Tjoget. The space is incredibly small but very efficiently used so in some way they easily manage to squeeze in 30+ people in a space no bigger than most people's living rooms. The staff are friendly and relaxed so it feels a bit more like having a glass of wine with at a friends (a very knowledgeable one) as a normal question is more like what type of wine you feel like today. The relaxed feeling and cozy atmosphere is really a strength of this place. The wine list changes frequently, and it usually holds around 5-7 whites, 5-7 reds and 1 sparkling by the glass. There is also almost always a few additional wines that are available by the glass so be sure to ask what else they have. With the name I would have expected more of Spanish wines but when I have been here there has been a lot of Italian and French wines on the list. The wines are in general good and it is always possible to have a small taster before ordering a full glass. I have not had spectacular wine here but also never anything close to bad so it is very good wine bar. Prices are also fairly reasonable to be Stockholm (expect at least 80-90 SEK per glass, many around 120 SEK and a few a bit more but no bargains to be had. Upon my latest visit I sampled a pleasant Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley, the producer was Yannick Amirault, region Bourgueil and the wine was called La Coudraye. Very good Cabernet Franc, especially considering the price. In addition I also sampled a Chianti from Montesecondo, fairly nice balance but felt rather young so while pleasant now would probably benefit from some ageing. They also serve some food. Mainly small plates, tapas style. I sampled the cheese croquetas, the charcuterie plate and the almonds. The food is pretty decent but looking at the amount of food it is not really great value for money. The dishes are small and the prices would make it fairly expensive to fill up on the tapas. So either come here before dinner for some good wine, nice atmosphere and enjoy a small bite or two or come after dinner and have some wine. I will definitely stop by now and then for a glass of wine so it is welcome to a neighborhood otherwise pretty starved for quality beverages (still waiting for a proper coffee place).

(Who doesn't know how to take out foam with a spoon..??) I asked him to fill the glass up with the beer he refused, saying "This is how it's served. This is how we price the beer". I then asked the manager how they serve and price their beer and he said they fill it to the top. If you don't want foam, they take some out and fill the glass up with beer. The attitude of the bartender was rude and he refused to admit that he did anything wrong. Who actually pours out a customers drink and then expects the customer to be happy about it..???
