I am happy and proud to say I am one of Eka students and quickly became her friend. Eka Dance Academy is such a great place to learn to dance with an amazing and very talented instructor and at the same time, owner of this studio. The place is very clean and easy to locate. When you start taking classes there and start going to Eka social dancing, very quickly you will to get a group of amazing new friends including Eka herself. After weeks you gonna feel like you have known them forever. In my case she really put an extra effort to help me to become way more confident on the dance floor as well as become better dancer. I really feel like I became party of Eka dancing family. All people are met there became my friends as well and helped me a lot. I have so many great friends now I can't even believe it and we have social dancing together, have classes together and support each other in the way I would never even expect. Like I said, Eka is very talented dancer and amazing instructor paying attention to details and everyone's skills. She is also very nice and kind person who is full of positive energy and always smiling always very respectful to anyone. I can't imagine not going to her classes or her events. She is one of the people who really have such a huge and very positive impact on my life. I am happy and proud to say I am her friend and student and I know she can always count on me for what she did for me, making extra effort, simply as a friend and human being. Please, visit her dance academy, take a class and see by yourself how wonderful person she is. Her studio feels like my second home now where I feel comfortable and where I have a chance to meet and dance with people with all kinds of background and ethnicity. Everybody, I repeat, everybody is treated equally and with the same respect. I can guarantee you that she is one of the nicest and caring people you will ever meet in your life. I love Eka and her studio! She is talented and knows how to teach! Not all talented dancers can teach others. If you love to dance or never dance but want to learn to this is the place to start!!! I go after my work, usually tired and wanting to just sleep, it takes me over 40 mins to reach her studio ( same time back home ) but I will tell you its totally worth it. She helps me leave my work stress behind and enjoy every minute in her studio. Her dance sessions work like therapy for me, I am able to completely de-stress and relax. I have been in a few studios in NJ close to my home but the energy and environment at Eka's studio is the best. She is a great teacher. I feel comfortable, relaxed and always leave her class rejuvenated and happy. She has a "rainbow" of students of various ethnic backgrounds, ages. Some come from far, some come to be professional dancers others just to enjoy dancing. I have been taking salsa and bachata classes with Eka since October 2017 as a stress reliever for school. I have been coming religiously when school allows and she is a wonderful teacher. I have two left feet, in my late 20's, and never would've of thought that I can learn how to dance, but I can now and can also teach my friends. I have no clue what the negative comments below are referring to, because that is not the Eka I know. First of all, English is her third language, so she doesn't even know slang words, lol. Second, she treats all her students of all color like family because I have seen many people drop in on classes since I've been going there. She is an amazing dancer and a very good teacher!! I've even brought her to teach my classmates at school and they all adore her. She is amazing, and you won't regret your decision to take a class here because I don't. read more

I have danced at a few studios. Eka's dance academy gives you a very comfortable environment to learn. Great place for beginners who are nervous to be new and also great for people with experience as Eka is an advanced teacher and offers intermediate classes and private classes too. I personally did a series of 10 private lessons with Eka and it transformed me to another level as a dancer. I now can go to dance socials with confidence and have a whole lot of fun doing it. In the classes I learn a lot and laugh a lot. We really have a good time as we learn. The people there feel like a family and EVERYONE feels welcome. It's hard to support a business in which the owner, Eka, calls someone a "N*gger and a p*ssy in front of students. How can you teach an African dance and be hateful and a misogynist? Furthermore, she seems unapologetic, which is demoralizing. Eka, dance is supposed to be welcoming and inspirational. Many people have expressed how upset they were on her Facebook page, only to be blocked. This is unacceptable. read more

Am I in the Twilight Zone?? The story in the set of bad reviews (posted in late October 2017) does not at all sound like this studio! Anyway, in the past three months I have taken group lessons (on salsa and bachata). Our beloved dance teacher Eka is warm and kind to everyone. She makes us laugh. During lessons she pays attention to each of us and give suggestions in a nurturing way. I've learned so much! read more

I hired Eka for my upcoming wedding. She was extremely accommodating with me and my fiancé's schedules. Anytime we had any questions or concerns, she was understanding and helpful. Her teaching method was very effective and we learned our first dance perfectly. I would recommend to anyone wanting too learn a dance for any occasion. NEVER is there justification for hatred & bigotry. I am astounded by the corroborated behavior of the proprietor of this dance studio. I will be sure to spend my money on studios and instructors who, like dance and music itself, are all inclusive and accepting! read more

I am deeply saddened and outraged to hear of the racist and bigoted comments made by this studio owner towards a respected festival organizer and DJ at a recent event in DC. We will not tolerate racism in the Philly dance community. read more
