All we wanted were some plantation shutters for our new home. It proved to be quite a long reno process, but the guys at EJ's were so very accommodating and patient. I requested a quote and Eric came by to do our measurements. He suggested having the shutters done last so that they wouldn't get dirty during construction. What's nice is that they can put in temporary window covers for you until your order comes in. We opted to order our shutters sooner rather than later. Little did we know we wouldn't complete our project for months and months. They had to hold on to our order for so long! The install took no time at all and was painless. Summary: We are happy with the new 2 1/2 inch vinyl horizontal blinds that EJs Home improvements put in to replace our home's original mini aluminum blinds. Details: EJs was one of three places that we contacted for quotes as well as looking at samples. We chose EJs over the others because Eric was very upfront regarding options and costs and he was NOT pushy. The pricing was very reasonable in comparison to the other estimates we received. Due to COVID-19, there was an 8 week wait between signing the contract and the installation. Eric kept in touch with us during this time. The day of the installation the work was done quickly, all six blinds installed (and the old ones removed) in under 90 minutes. The workers showed up on time and were already wearing masks. After the installation we noted a few minor things that needed adjusting (pulls too short to reach easily, tilt adjustments, visible gap between valence and top of blinds when blinds are lifted). We contacted Eric, he came out and we discussed what could be done with us. He arranged to have someone come out and make the adjustments. This also had some wait time (again, due to their backlog of work) but when Johnny came he addressed all of our issues. read more

Okay, you know you're in your 30's when you're this excited about window shutters but, I AM SO EXCITED. We got a few quotes for shutters and blinds and decided to go with Eric because of his laid-back attitude (not pushy and quite friendly) and willing to work with us with scheduling. Plus his quote came in very reasonable. It took about 2 months to order all of the shutters and Johnny came out to do the installation. He was short his helper so he had to do the install by himself but did a great job. There were some difficult to close/move or lop-sided ones but Johnny was quick to fix and remedy the situation. He also explained that sometimes windows/doors can be lop-sided and uneven (and they are definitely not identical even if they are right next to each other). But he was able even these out for us on the spot. We had 1 incorrect measurement and 1 faulty blind but these were all corrected and we're very pleased with our window treatments. Ej's Home Improvements has done several projects in our home. Starting with the master bedroom, We took out all of the furnishings and Chris custom built our furniture. He helped me design a dresser that is larger than typical and created a built in headboard along with nightstands. Eric had custom shutters made for our windows to complete the look. The workmanship is excellent! The crews were always on time and cleaned up each day before leaving. They also rebuilt our laundry room and customized it to fit a stackable washer and dryer. Again excellent service and workmanship. Chris also custom built our living room mantle and Eric provided beautiful 2" wood blinds to match. Last year we had our kitchen remodeled. That was a huge ordeal however EJ's made it as painless as possible. Anyone going without a kitchen for 6-8 weeks understands. Chris sent me to great places to select granite, tile & flooring. He brought awesome finishes for the cabinetry and listened to my design ideas while adding ones that I didn't think of. Eric provided 2" wood blinds and when one came warped he did not hesitate to have it replaced. Eric has also provided us with retractable screen doors and has always been helpful with rescreening if a cat or kids has run through it. :) Today we just finished up on the master bath shower/tub area. This was not a full remodel but Chris was wiling to work around what we have and make a beautiful finished bath suite. I used EJ's Home Improvement today to help me with my broken plantation shutter. I was fearful that they would not help me because my repair was on the inexpensive side. It seems like most companies will only help you if your repair is over $250. Thankfully when I called, the owner was super pleasant and helpful! My repair was not urgent so he (Eric) fit me into his schedule as I don't live close to Mission Viejo. That was fine with me. He called me twice to follow up on the appointment. And even with his reminder phone calls, I still forgot! I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes late. He was exactly on time. He didn't act put off by my lapse of memory. Instead, he was pleasant and happy to see me. The repair was done neatly, quickly, and professionally. My shutter is as good as new.
