Tucked away at the edge of a small park, on the side of a slow-moving creek, and in a block of…read moreresidential apartments, Restaurant Ilios is a lovely destination Greek restaurant in Erding.
Unfortunately, English menus are not available, but translation with a smartphone these days is easy. The friendly servers also mostly speak some English. Make reservations as the restaurant filled up fast. And having made early reservations, we were accorded a lovely waterside table to watch ducks, loons and other waterfowl at play.
I got the Fish Platter so as to try as many of their offerings as possible. The fish, calamari and shrimp were all perfectly grilled. Superbly fresh, they were all delicious without partaking of 2 sauces that were provided. The grilled fish had a very nice sear on both sides,, and still juicy and tender on the inside. It was much more than just fish - a perfect Greekly seafood platter! The sauces prpvided were obviously freshly made and delicious, but the seafood did not need it. Accompanied by boiled potatoes and buttered rice, it was the perfect dinner. More than enough for me (a light eater) but someone with a heartier appetite might want a starter and a dessert.
My friends had the meaty Larissa Platter and the grilled octopus and calamari. After hearing a few Wow's I sneaked off a couple of bites from the meat. The Gyros was perfect. Tasty, slightly charred and still tender and juicy. The souvlaki skeqers could have been a bit juicier, but still no complaints with home-made Tzatziki sauce.
