Good listener and I feel like I get good therapy. I had less success with others in the practice including Maria Merola, APRN. It's very important to have the right doctor. And I have to knock the practice down a star because they can be difficult to reach at times and you usually can't leave a message with the answering service. This has been frustrating at times. But Dr. Jean-Baptiste is excellent.

Dr. Michele Jean-Baptiste has been my Psychiartist for well over a decade. When he met me, I had…read morebeen misdiagnosed for many years, and I was extremely ill. Dr. JB, as I fondly call him, was the most thorough, empathetic, and trustworthy Psychiatrist I had ever met. He had a complete neurological work-up completed on me to rule out any physical causes of my symptoms. He spent a great deal of time with me, asking questions no one had asked before. Then, he met with my husband and I to share the results. He explained my diagnosis, and said it would be very difficult to determine which treatment plan would work, and that we'd have to make adjustments to that plan for the rest of my life. He promised that if I didn't give up on him, he wouldn't give up on me. And he meant it. All these years later, although I am now disabled, I live a much more stable life, because I've learned what I must do, and what I must avoid to stay as well as possible. Dr. JB partners with my Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Therapist, and also works with my other specialists. He knows my needs. He has shown my family a great deal of support as well. I highly recommend him for anyone with a mental illness. If you are willing to work hard toward recovery, you will find he will work equally as hard to assist you in every way he possibly can.

I am writing this on behalf of my mother who was a patient of this woman for many years. My mother…read morewas a loyal patient for many years paying extra to be a boutique customer although was frequently sent to E.R. for breathing complaints hospitalized overnight then discharged home without an office visit first. This was incredibly frustrating to family as home care not available due to short hospital visits nor resulted in specific diagnosis or helpful recommendations. I requested this M.D. sign paperwork for FMLA as E.R. visits were becoming more frequent but M.D. avoided signing despite multiple requests to do so. I found this highly unusual but not as shocking as my mother being discharged from her care abruptly at the beginning of COVID pandemic in CT. We were told that due to illness she planned to retire within 30 days and my mother needed to find another doctor within that time frame. Somewhat confusing to me she stated she planned to continue with a few patients but not my mother. No lists of recommended M.D's taking on new Medicare patients was suggested nor referrals to appropriate professionals based on her knowledge of my mother's health care needs was provided. Unfortunately but not surprising my mother was informed that M.D. practices were not accepting new patients until later in the year after she attempted to make an appointment. I write this only to caution other elderly patients so that they may avoid being dropped in this way by a trusted provider. Difficult at any time but exponentially worse during the worst pandemic of the last century.
