As a former Coastie on the wrong side of divers in distress I was leery of certifying without doing my research and looked at 5 shops in the area. I landed on T L Sea Diving after checking off all safety marks and after talking with David who was willing to meet me after the shop closed due to my work schedule. I instantly felt at ease with the entire team (David, Nicole, Joe, Ian, Larry, Phil and Jill) and was so appreciative of their process, high level of skill, and how they individually accommodated all four of us and our learning/personality styles in the group. I felt exceptionally well-cared for and safe throughout certification and look forward to the Advanced Open Water course coming up and the very cool international and club dives they have planned.

He was very patient, supportive and helpful to me. Soon after, I took the AOW class with Dave. I found him to be a great instructor who is willing to take the time I needed to really learn the skills being taught - and does it with a good sense of humor.

I was looking for a guided dive and had never been in open saltwater before. It was a bit of a last minute trip, and the shop was really really good about working with me to match me with a buddy, and had cheaper rental prices than all the other places I checked. Professional and easy to work with. I dove with Allen Raphael, and he was wonderful! Incredibly helpful, attentive to any questions I had, and was incredibly fun and knowledgeable about what we were seeing. I was also a little nervous, and he had a very easygoing calm personality while managing to get all the little details just right. I felt super safe and free to enjoy the dive, and he went the extra mile to work with me and my limitations, (no car, no place to dry gear overnight etc.) Lots of amazing sea critters too, lungfish, rockfish, nudibranchs, flounder, crabs and starfish of all sizes, sea cucumbers, anemone's...you'd never guess it's all down there by looking at the coast, and it's mostly all okay to touch! I felt like I was being taught by good friends more than they were "instructors". I've been scuba diving before this class but they still taught me extremely useful skills in the pool and open water. They did a great job keeping me and my buddy comfortable at all times and I never felt like I was in any danger at any point of the class (even though you must take your mask off at 25 feet in the cold water!!). With an upcoming trip to Baja Sur, I decided this was the time and was initially looking at outfits in Mexico when I just so happened to check local prices here in the PNW. I was surprised to find that Underwater Sports offered the most affordable PADI certification I had seen, half the cost of some dive companies in Baja. When I went to check out the shop, I was immediately impressed with the staff, who were all friendly, knowledgeable, & passionate about diving. It felt right, so I booked the Open Water Diver course. This proved to be a very good decision as our instructor, Jaiden, and her assisting Dive Masters (Frank & Jason) were all equally skilled, friendly, and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was professional but never stiff. I was confident that Jaiden and our Dive Masters always knew what they were doing and had our safety as their top priority, but they also were very relatable and easy to talk to. The experience was an entirely positive one, from beginning to end, and while I was already certain that I would love diving, I am now equally certain that I have found a community that I will continue to share that love with. I mean he instantly calls other shops and it's hard to have everything you would want on hand, so Chris helps with the anguish of waiting with reasonable deals and consistent updates. The staff are top knotch! Mr. Holland taught me from Advanced up to Dive Master and I had so much fun the entire time. The shop does also offer lots of FREE dives to certified divers. They also offer regulator service, but it goes up to Seattle which is not a problem at all. This place is a second home.

I think that Chris H.'s review is a little unfair. First of all, I think that the TWREX is a way…read morebetter suit than any DUI suit but he seems to think that changing out the boots is like changing a tire. Here is what is involved and it takes an incredible amount of skill and experience to do it correctly. 1. The old boots have to be cut off. Not just hacked off but cut off cleanly with a completely vertical cut with a special rolling cutting blade, scissors would leave an uneven edge. 2. Because of compression to the old suit the neoprene thickness is now uneven so you are going to be trying to glue old neoprene to new neoprene (the new booties). This is really tricky. 3. Now you have to put down multiple layers of glue first to prepare the two different surfaces to go together. 4. Now the tricky part - you have to actually join the leg of the suit to the boot with wet glue in a matter of seconds and do it perfectly. You have about 30 seconds to do so. If you screw it up and there is a 50% chance or better that you will you have to use a solvent to take it apart - wait a while and start all over again. 5. Assuming you got it together it actually has to be waterproof. There is a decent chance that it will have 2 or 3 pinhole leaks that will have to be fixed later. 6. After it is dry and assuming you have put it together without a huge glue mess it has to be blind stitched on an expensive specialty sewing machine called a blind stitcher. This sewing machine basically has a needle that goes sideways just under the fabric of the neoprene and protects the OUTSIDE of the seam but does NOT penetrate the neoprene itself (this would cause a leak). 7. Now you turn the suit inside out and coat the inside of the new seam with an expensive glue to protect the INSIDE of the seam. 8. You now must do the OTHER boot. And for this skill, new boots, 3 hours of time, use of a specialized sewing machine and the liability it entails you pay $245. What a deal! By the way, I work for one of Harvey's competitors. But I do the above a couple times a week, we should charge more but people like you complain so much that we can't.

I was proud to be a key employee and build long term dealer and export relationships. Was ever suit perfect, no - but we made good on them. Claude Rorabaugh, retired and at 68 and ex-diver too!
