Clinging to the edge of a cliff in the Swiss Alps at a train stop near Jungfraujoch, this restaurant boasts one of the greatest views in the world. Even from inside, but especially on the outdoor patio, the scenic overlook of plunging valleys and snow-capped mountains ranks right up there with restaurant views I've enjoyed in Wyoming's Grand Tetons, Italy's Lake Como, and Japan's Mount Fuji. Situated 7,612 feet (2320m) above sea level, this is simply a surreal place to eat lunch or dinner.
The food is classic Swiss. The salad features thinly shaved rolls of a beautiful local Grindelwqld mountain cheese, every bit as stunning as a proper Parmigiano Reggiano. The cordon bleu features locally raised pork and ham with an abundance of that wonderful melted mountain cheese. The restaurant offers many authentic dishes and even a platter filled with local meats and cheeses. This is a wonderful experience in the mountains that shouldn't be missed! read more
