We inquired through our realtor to see if they could come do a quick update for a reasonable fee. They refused saying it would need to be new survey which is completely fine but they quoted us a bid three times the average of 3 other surveying companies. We politely told them we'd be going with another company. They responded very rudely after we showed them the other bid and they made a snide remark saying the other company must not be good and is going out of business. Ironically, the other company was more reputable than them and had a long standing great record. It was odd that this company felt the need to trash another company while charging 3x the going rate for the same job. They are expensive, rude, and not easy to deal with. We tried contacting them a total of 3 times before we got a call back. Save yourself the trouble and use a different surveyer. We will be sending their statement about the other company to that company. I would want to know if someone was unrighteously tearing down my company's reputation falsely. If this is how he treats potential clients simply for choosing another company, I'd question how he conducts business in general. When I asked reasonable questions about the missed timeline and its impact on my project, I was met with hostility rather than customer service. The larger issue was the attitude. Instead of working cooperatively with title companies, attorneys, and other professionals involved in the transaction, there seemed to be a constant need to argue and defend positions rather than provide solutions. I received communications criticizing other parties involved in the process, including the City of Houston, which I found highly unprofessional and irrelevant to completing the work I hired them to perform. When title-related questions arose and additional clarification was needed, I did not receive the level of responsiveness and cooperation I would expect from a professional surveying firm. Rather than addressing concerns and moving the project forward, the engagement was ultimately canceled after I questioned the significant delays. As someone who regularly buys, sells, and develops property, I understand that issues arise and schedules can change. What I do not expect is a surveyor who spends more time debating than delivering, treats legitimate client concerns as a problem, and appears unwilling to work constructively with the other professionals necessary to close a transaction. Exactly a year ago today, Houston suffered a tremendous natural disaster. No one could imagine a 54-inch rainfall could happen. Within hours, flood water kept rising from bayous and reservoir. The most frightening experience was evacuation from those flooded neighborhoods. People around the world watching us in devastation on TV and social media. We can't prevent acts by the mother nature. But we can build our life around floodplains. This is how I love modern technologies. Understanding the knowledge from FEMA and Harris County Flood Control, flood insurance became a fact of life for homeowners. My neighbor and I wanted to get elevation certificates for our flood insurance. We were recommended JAG Engineering by another neighbor in our subdivision. I first emailed them from an email address on the website. I didn't get a response (this is normal). Then, I filled a form on their website, which got me an email reply. I called the following week and got an appointment. Some neighbors said the process only takes 5 minutes. But John (owner of JAG Engineering) and his crew was there for nearly 2 and a half hours. They took time to make sure the highest accuracy. You may ask why elevation certificate is a requirement for purchasing a flood insurance. FEMA releases floodplain maps in Houston and everywhere in the country. It depends on how far away the property is from flood lines to determine the chances of getting flooded. But after Hurricane Harvey, these maps need to be updated again. It's a good thing we got our certificates. My neighbor is going to buy his flood insurance. Me on the other hand, I already got a flood insurance. I was hoping to see I could save money on my insurance. Overall, my experience at JAG Engineering was satisfying. Unreliable. Called them and needed a site survey within a week. John said he would call me back…read morelater that day. He did not call. I called the next day. And the next. Told him the time sensitive need for a site survey to rebuild a fence. Assured me he could do it. They came to the house and initially did not finish the survey and told my wife that because of another neighbor's fence being in the way they couldn't get it completed. (I had a fence company coming the following week.) They then cancelled coming back on Saturday to do it because they were afraid of the weather. It never rained. Bottom line, I had to rebuild the fence due to my backyard pool without the survey and hope we didn't encroach on the neighbor's property. They still insisted I pay for a survey they completed after the fence was built.

In early Dec 2020 we had a need for someone to survey a piece of land to split it. We contacted…read moreBoundary Management and spoke with Jason Collins, he was very pleasant to talk with and very eager to do the work described. We signed a service agreement and he began doing the work with his crew he came to a point in the work where he was to handover the details to a licensed surveyor to get the details finalized. We wrote him a check for the full amount of his work, but we had not received anything yet. Before he could get his work finalised he had an accident and decided to write us a reimbursement check. In early March the reimbursement check, we contacted David he said it was an error at his bank First Financial Bank. We resubmitted the check after he gave us clearance that the issue was resolved at his bank, but the check bounced again. Jason seems like a swell guy, and I am truly sorry for his accident and hope his business recovers, but I would not recommend him to anyone at this point.
