After providing a completion date, the survey was repeatedly delayed. When I asked reasonable questions about the missed timeline and its impact on my project, I was met with hostility rather than customer service. The larger issue was the attitude. Instead of working cooperatively with title companies, attorneys, and other professionals involved in the transaction, there seemed to be a constant need to argue and defend positions rather than provide solutions. I received communications criticizing other parties involved in the process, including the City of Houston, which I found highly unprofessional and irrelevant to completing the work I hired them to perform. When title-related questions arose and additional clarification was needed, I did not receive the level of responsiveness and cooperation I would expect from a professional surveying firm. Rather than addressing concerns and moving the project forward, the engagement was ultimately canceled after I questioned the significant delays. As someone who regularly buys, sells, and develops property, I understand that issues arise and schedules can change. What I do not expect is a surveyor who spends more time debating than delivering, treats legitimate client concerns as a problem, and appears unwilling to work constructively with the other professionals necessary to close a transaction.
