EcoShield wanted to locate anyone else in the area who would be willing to buy their service for a discount -- half price because workers and the product were already nearby. We have a contract with this company to prevent critters from burrowing into our foundation n for…read moreindoor bug n mice control. Things were going good as in results (takes a month+ to see this) until 1of their employees did something that made me realize a few things. We all know that most paychecks dont coincide with our living expenses n the continued increase in costs of everything, so now companies have come up with tipping requests. I do understand that we are to tip hairdressers, food servers n more but now we are adding in home service people. Should we tip mailman or UPS deliveries every time packages/mail get delivered? Im sure they would like that too. With service people who fumigate or landscape a sizable property, do we follow their behinds n see if they do their job as per our request in order to gratify them with a commensurate tip? Ridiculous! So he had me sign (scribble) on his phone to acknowledge his presence n then the phone text came to rate him n an option to tip his good work. So how will we know if he did his job after he got my signature or did his job per our contract? If we don't tip, will he know n come back next month and not do his job as well as he should? Yes...trust is indeed the word. This sort of tipping seems to want to become the norm as we start to oblige companies to do this. Should we oblige knowing that companies might then continue to pay lower wages to legitimately hardworking people? What happened to caring for employees, which also indirectly helps instill pride in their service? Blame this on Covid too? Ugh!

I scheduled my appointment, and then, after three more calls to Doug, I sent him a picture of the pest. Turns out it was tick. Doug was honest and cancelled my appointment, since I didn't need his service. He didn't try to lie or tell me I still needed service. I appreciate the honesty.

We called Terminix first for a free inspection but their performance was lackluster. Their guy checked our bedroom but never pinpointed the source of the problem and quoted me $800 for a treatment anyway. Didn't inspire much confidence so I called Affordable Bed Bug Exterminators instead because they sounded so professional on the phone, they quoted me less than half the price and I figured they would be more specialized anyway. When I talked to Doug on the phone, I actually asked him why they're so cheap, and he explained they're a much smaller company with more efficiency and less waste so they are able to charge less. Sold! They sent James out to us the next day to treat our apartment as well as our downstairs neighbors' to be safe and within 10 minutes I was glad I chose ABBE. He located the bed bugs right away nestled away in our headboard and showed them to me. He was so patient and answered my many questions and he was so kind to my neighbor who was overwhelmed with the whole ordeal. His sweet demeanor gave us so much peace in an otherwise traumatizing and violating situation. Afterward I let my bed bug prisoner out of the jar to walk around in some of the treatment sprayed along our baseboards then put him back in the jar to watch what would happen. He was sufficiently dead by the next day. Sorry little blood sucking cretin, it was me or you. It's been almost a month and I'm so happy to report no more bites! So glad we chose Affordable!
