I wish the base would take more time to clean the sand but its also the people who use it, the military folks who should at least throw their trash in the trash cans and no use the sand as the cigarette ash tray. When we're lucky I don't have to deal with any of that, the plus is that there's hermit crabs to catch, its pretty much waist deep for people with little ones for a good 4 feet away from the shore, sometimes you'll see dolphins in the bay swimming by, and the waves aren't too strong that you're worried about a rip current taking your family away. It's used a lot for squadron functions and parties so keep in mind, first come first serve.

No soap is allowed while showering. We went twice and the first time the gate attendant was a volunteer and the second time a ranger. Both times were very pleasant. I would visit again for a Destin trip. The parking is easy, the water is beautiful, and the sandbar is great for kids.

Only 2 out of 3 were working when we went and because of the low pressure, there was a long line of people waiting their turn to rinse off. There is zero shade here so definitely bring umbrella or some sort of shade option because the sun is brutal! The water though? Absolutely perfect! We really liked that it wasn't very touristy (tourists are the WORST! Especially when they act like tourists!!) The beach was very clean and there were even public restrooms in the places we went and those were clean too. Something fun about the beach is that the home of the Blue Angels is nearby, so they do fly overs at this beach when returning home - this is awesome!! Definitely would like to return!!!

A green flag means low risk, calm conditions, but swimmers should still be cautious. A yellow flag indicates moderate hazard, with moderate surf and currents, requiring extra caution. A red flag signifies high hazard, with high surf and/or strong currents, and may prohibit swimming or wading in some areas. A double red flag means the water is closed to the public, typically during hurricanes or other severe events. A purple flag indicates the presence of dangerous marine life." Now that has been said, Pensacola Beach is stunning, boasting fine, sugar-soft white sand. The beach is spacious and clean, equipped with nice bathrooms and outdoor showers. If you walk further down to the right of the pier, it becomes less crowded. The Blue Angels conduct their annual airshows, which will take place this year on July 9 - 12, 2025.

The staff is friendly and professional, and they go out of their way to help. For the boat, pretty quiet and protected cove. On demand pump out boat. Fuel dock. Repair Shop and maintenance crew on premises. High and dry storage around the corner. Ships store for a lot of what you need, courtesy car to get the rest. For the crew, clean showers!!! Bar, paddleboard rentals, restaurant, and picnic tables at the top of the dock. Passes to local pool available at the ship store. Grocery nearby. For the kids, safe shallow beach (right near the bar) usually full of local kids ready to play and find hermit crabs, minnows and crabs. Cannot say enough good stuff about this place... Especially the staff, might have to add them to the Christmas card list!
