Even better if entrance and parking (2 hours) are free. Fort Walton Landing Park in the "FWB Downtown Marketplace" zone (aka "East Miracle Strip") fits all of those checkboxes. There are grassy knolls, tall trees, cheeky squirrels, many shaded seating areas, and a large playscape structure, plus bay views and a peek of homes and hotels on Okaloosa Island across the water. There is NOT a beach here (the white sandy beaches are on the island; this is the bay/channel side - other reviewers posting gulf beach pics are confused). The two piers / docks and associated boardwalk are unfortunately still out of commission after storms in 2020, but will hopefully be rebuilt soon. Note that dogs must be on leash at all times. The shops across the street include a mixture of apparel, gifts, art, and sports, so you're sure to find a souvenir or three to take home while you explore the area on foot. We especially liked Buccaneer Shop (local flavor), Run with It! (running and pickleball gear), and Coral Reef Shop (tacky t-shirts with Destin & FWB logos). The FWB Farmers Market is held here 8a - 1p on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, year-round. Holiday concerts and fireworks are often held here, as well. There was also a ninja course and small playrooms. The staff were friendly and observant of what was going on. Weevil play offered snacks and coffee non-alcoholic drinks for sale. There is a seated area to the side of the play structure for snacking. Everyone needs to have socks from Weevil play-including adults, with NO Shoes allowed inside the gate. This ensures the floors are clean for the kids & crawlers. The pricing was reasonable for what we have seen at indoor play places in several other cities. This business also offers rentals, but we have not rented from them-as we were visiting from out town. We will be back here to burn some kid energy when it is too hot outside!

You can't bring ones from other areas like it , that have the grippers on them which OK fine but she was super rude about the situation .. one of the workers has two twin boys that are nonverbal and they tried to hit my son on five different occasions physically trying to harm him. My son is only months old I had to physically block him from slapping my child on the head. Ran by another lady and slapped her on the leg..

5/16 Hurlburt Field has a fantastic display of airplanes and…read morehelicopters. There is a nice walking path that allows you to see and read everything. I was surprised by how massive some of the aircraft were. There were some really nice memorials interspersed as well. The only way in is with military access, but if you have the chance, go see this. It's really fascinating.
