This beach was fairly nice. I've been here a couple of times prior to the visit this past weekend. The beach was definitely nice both this year and the last. The sand was nice and pretty white. It wasn't too bad playing volleyball on it either. It wasn't the softest sand, but it also wasn't terribly granular and rough. The water was free of seaweed so it was nice to swim in. I don't remember it ever being super crowded these past two years, but then again, it could be early in the beach season--April. Although parking wasn't an issue since my group rented a condo that faced this beach, I did see public access points and parallel parking spots along the beach area.

Everyone n their brother and cousins were here end of July... A zoo n not my bag

I'm a sucker for any beach n stopped for a quick fix.. The beach/ocean: Miramar is beautiful, the sand was white n silky, gentle surf, bathtub warm water. The area itself: Concrete jungle. If I were to return - I would definitely go during off-peak times n drive the coast until I found a remote piece of heaven vs a crowded n commercial setting this area offers.

This beach is near the city of Destin and I say with no exaggeration that this is the prettiest beach in America, maybe even in the world. From the Caribbean, to Hawaii, I've seen a lot of beaches and this is the nicest beach I've been to. White, clean sand and crystal blue water... I must stop taunting myself now. I've almost been home for 24 hours and I'm already having withdrawals. I must go back soon! It stays imaculantly clean because each morning, Walton County removes whatever is left over night. I watched from my balcony, several mornings as wave boards, umbrellas and the other costly non disposable items were toted off in the back if the County owned truck. That kind of sucks, but pay attention to the signs people. Maybe they intended to dispose of them anyways. I was there during Spring Break and it was never very crowded at all. I'm not sure if that applies to the entire beach, or just the area that I stayed near, but several days we walked along the beach and never witnessed a very crowded area of Miramar. One day we are at Pompano Joe's, another day having drinks at The Crab Trap, and dinner the last day at the Surf Hut. I'm not sure if all of those places would be considered as Miramar beach or not, but they're all walkable from there, so I'd thought I mention them. Get there ASAP! I know I'm already planning my trip back. It was only about a ten hour drive, so it's not too bad of a drive, my Lexingtonian friends.

Grab your bikinis or swim trunks, sun tan or sun block lotion, umbrella, towels, beach chairs, water, sunglasses and a good book and get ready for some much needed R&R! Powder white sandy beaches and blue ocean waves awaits you this summer!! But first you must brave the Florida roads to get to this beach town! Once your in the area be prepared to deal with stop and go traffic and flocks of pedestrians trying to get to the beach. Once your in the area and your the driver, patience is highly recommended since you will need to find a designated parking spot. Once you've made your way to the beach, peace descends and you will be glad you came! One of the most scenic beach I've encountered. There are lots of beach front condos for rent. You may need to rent in advance to get the really good spots but it's worth it!!

    Signs everywhere

We are so disappointed with the small amount of access if you aren't staying on the beach front. You are treated like a "second class citizen" when you walk down to the beach. There are umbrella companies on almost the entire beach, except between cones approximately 60ft wide only that you're allowed to set up your own chairs and umbrellas. They charge $60 a day for one small umbrella and two wood chairs. Everyone is piled up in the small area that doesn't want to pay or can't afford to pay the $60. So disappointed.

I can see why this area is called the Emerald Coast with its pretty blue green water. I never spent time in the panhandle, it's always been Central or South, Florida. The beaches did not disappoint. Very pretty with soft sand. Definitely a relaxing beach with not many people.

Gorgeous sand!! It was to cold for us to swim but the water is a beautiful Blue and the sand is soft and white. We rented a house near by and had access to the beach through frangista beach properties. We sadly came at spring break so there was a ton of loud music, drinking, cussing, and drunk kids. Would love to come back when the stereos aren't blaring and just listen to the waves.

We went first week of August. Weather was good and hot. A little crowded on the weekends but mid week traffic wasn't so bad. A nice beach. A lot of private beaches with chair service if you want that.

Hermit crab found while snorkeling. He was returned to the ocean after showing him off.

First time to the panhandle with the family. After lots of debate, the family settled on this location for the weekend. Everyone had a great time with almost no complaints. The water was clear and the sand was soft and white. The restaurants were fun and an adventure in itself.

Today August 14 2016 the beach is perfect. The weather is hot, but there is a nice strong breeze to keep us cool. The beaches aren't over crowded as well. The water is relatively clear and clean compared to other times when it was full of junk.

Beautiful beaches with amazing white sand. The ocean is fairly clean to. The whitest beaches I have very been too. They have chair and umbrella rentals all long the beach. You can also rent kayaks which is very fun. Overall a very family friendly beach!

Easy entry and exit. Beach was full but plenty or room for everyone so it still didn't feel like you were close to each other.

What's not to love about the Topsail Preserve Nature Park?! Having rented a house to quarantine in place with my mother - who lives not far from the area - I decided to venture out one day. Now, coming from the Pacific NW - I was very sensitive to protecting myself and others by wearing a mask and maintaining physical distancing. This is, however, the panhandle of Florida and the attention to public health science seems to be forgotten. On a Monday afternoon in the height of a second wave of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on a run through the area, I was the only person with a mask . . . and I was running. The tram that connects the parking lot to the beach passed me with a full compliment of passengers - no one wearing a mask or physical distancing. So I guess all of this is to say - Topsail is a beautiful beach park with a swath of pristinely preserved coastal nature - but perhaps wait until the case load decreases on the panhandle and/or we have better preventive options for protection (I.e. a vaccine) before venturing.

Interesting fact, the sand is that way from granite deposits that flow from North GA and beyond all the way down into the Gulf as silt. Because of the beaches, the area attracts more and more tourist every year and IMO is getting more luxurious as the years go by. I've noticed better restaurants, more aesthetically pleasing looking buildings and just a more upscale feel with each visit. I'm writing this here because I noticed many of the beaches along the 6 mile coast are PRIVATE. I'm not sure which beach to actually post this review but I find that simply horrible, ridiculous, backwards and restrictive! Who adds gates with Codes to a beach?!?! I can understand a handful of properties and major resorts but to secure majority of the coastline with Controlled Access? In my particular visit I stayed at a resort and had the codes for entry/exit but found many people having difficulty simply getting to the beach! I don't think they knew the beaches would have controlled Access! Even to exit, you need a code! That's shameful! It was frustrating to see people struggle with umbrellas/coolers and chairs only to have to find the Public Beach and have to walk back to their car. May I add the city also doesn't have any form of boardwalk to enjoy a long walk down the coast or some form of transportation to maneuver the public/private beaches! You're basically on your own! I'm curious Who/When/How that got approved because that's definitely some backwards N. Florida, My Property, ME, ME, ME planning! I'm not a resident but I believe some things on this planet are public and Imo a beach is one of them! Plus their has to be better ways to protect and maintain these beaches than blocking them off from the general public. Any who, for anybody planning a Trip to Destin, Please do your homework! Visit the website below which has hyperlinks for all the beaches which explains access points/fees/sizes of the beach and more details. I'll also attach a picture which shows a few of the main Public Beaches. It does appear the largest beach is Henderson Beach with1.22 miles of shoreline. Seems like the general "Dump the masses" area. The others are significantly smaller! smh. Any who I hope this helps! One Last detail, We had many umbrellas and chairs however this was literally the 1st beach that didn't have Umbrellas for sale on the beach. It's just very restrictive down there and is worthy of a review! https://www.cityofdestin.com/281/Beach-Information
