Being back for the first time in almost two decades you really do feel what has changed -- the loud traffic and crowds on the 30A, the bad price/quality ratio at a lot of the beach joints, the fact that you have to have a special electronic wristband to walk in to the Tupelo Beach Pavillion . . . On the other hand, the sand is still that magical white, with smooth enticing entry into the Gulf. And as my son and I rode a pair of tricycles through the streets a few blocks further inland, and it was so quiet that all we could hear was the breeze, I almost felt the magic again.

There are beach chair rentals you can reserve, or you can bring your own chairs/tents/umbrellas. There do have the police driving up and down the beach frequently to ensure no laws are being broken. It shouldn't be hard, but for some a respect for nature has completely died. You would think people would pick up their own trash, not use glass bottles, you know leave without any footprints ? It's amazing to see how well kept this beach is, and for those who are inconsiderate and don't think to clean up after themselves typically the locals or the police will give you a reminder. For us it was no problem at all, we did mention it to a few of the younger crowds to make sure they threw their trash away and bottles and cans. Leave it clean so it will stay beautiful!

Luke, the young man at South Walton Beach Chair, took the time to try to find our reservation but when he couldn't, he basically said no problem and set us up after we made our payment. He allowed us to choose our spot on the beach and got us situated quickly. He took the time to explain why certain areas were off limits, either due to private property or safety. During our tour Tonya was our captain. She was amazing and very knowledgeable. We spent an hour watching dolphins and then the next 3 on a sand bar. The sand bar was awesome for the adults and kids. She put out a floating mat to lay on and parked right next to an inflatable obstacle course for the kids to play on. While on the sand bar she took a ton of photos and videos of everyone so you didn't have to worry about it. At the end of the tour she sent them to us at no extra charge. If we ever go back to Destin FL then we will for sure rent the boat again!!!! Hopefully Tonya is our captain again! NOTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE!!

We saw a sea turtle, stingray, and herons too. We also stopped at a Sandy pristine beach and took a walk. It was so relaxing and beautiful. We also time to crab Island perfectly for Sunset Captain Brian took tons of pictures of us in a very thoughtful way with the sun sinking low in the background. the pictures turned out beautiful. What a great trip. I would highly recommend if you want to truly relax rent a private boat with a captain like Brian.
