My husband and I had breakfast here around 9:30am on a Tuesday and there was no wait. One of the best breakfasts we've had in Montreal. Went here for breakfast so I didn't have to go outside in the freezing cold. Sat at the bar for breakfast and had a crab cake Benedict with potatoes. Love the option to have just one crab cake and egg instead of two without a choice. The Benedict and fresh squeezed orange juice were both delicious. The food here was so good! I had a huge breakfast which filled me up for the whole day. My husband had the ricotta and orange pancakes which he said were really good. Warning - the kids pancakes have ricotta and orange zest in them. Huh? It would be nice if the server had mentioned this. As a result, my son didn't eat them. Pancakes are one of his safe foods (he barely eats). The restaurant kindly took them off the bill, but it would have been nice to know in advance. Date of visit: June 13, 2023 The reviews for this local chain were good and we had intended on checking out the Underground City today; this location on Rue Sainte-Catherine was perfect for achieving our goals and did not disappoint. Our server was quiet but efficient, we wanted for very little. It took a bit to get attention initially but once we ordered, everything was perfect. My Banana Split Waffles were outstanding and the two in our party that ordered the chicken and waffles did not walk away hungry or disappointed! It's an American style breakfast with a Canadian twist. Quality- I'm a fan of the duck confit and the potato's. The duck is a bit dry but the sauce they have to compliments the dish well to make it less dry. The potatoes are perfectly burnt to make them crispy but not too brown. The omlette is pretty normal. Nothing special here Quantity- good quantity for the price. The drinks are a bit pricy though Atmosphere- nice place to sit down and eat. The outdoor seating has the heaters blowing at you while it's hot outside which doesn't help. I would like them to be off during the summer Service- fast at first but they are very understaffed. A great spot for breakfast/brunch. We've been here a couple of times, as it was within walking distance of the hotel, and promised more substantive food than croissants, coffee, and bagels or fruit. In the Complex de Desjardins, near the Place d'Arts, you can find this place. It's two stories, with seating outside and in. If you want to be seated quicker, since they don't take reservations, you should be willing to be seated inside. The atmosphere has quirky posters and murals that are very Quebec/Montreal focused. Staff are great. Prompt, attentive, and generally good at ensuring your meal goes very well, without being obtrusive and annoying. I had a coffee, mimosa, and the Montreal Benny. The Montreal Benedict was great. It's like an eggs Benedict but with Montreal "smoked meats" instead. It's sorta like pastrami. Very good. The Lyonnaise potatoes (home fries) and side of bacon were also good. But that Hollandaise. Benedicts are made or broken on their Hollandaise. Many do well enough. These folks did it awesome. I don't think I've ever seen such an extensive brunch menu! We stumbled upon Eggspectation as we walked around Montreal looking for a place to have breakfast. We walked in and were able to get a table without a reservation, on a Saturday nonetheless. The menu was truly overwhelming, but in the best possible way. They had it all! Sweet and savory; vegetarian options and meats of all kinds; coffee and alcoholic drinks. This place is it! The service was incredible, the food was fairly priced, and we loved the overall ambiance of the restaurant. It's a huge place -- two levels. It was a constant battle attempting to move them away. This place gets busy very quick, by the time we were leaving around 11am, there was a line up. Food: This food was average. My omelet was overcooked, which left the meal a little dry. Interestingly enough, this does not come with toast but the server was nice enough to bring us some. The potatoes are almost chip consistency but appear to look like round wedges. I am not sure if that is intentional or they are meant to be served hard.
