Shrimp fried rice, chow mein, and 4 pieces of dry fried rib
    Bee D.

This place has been here forever and always packed. Definitely one of the better Chinese food hood spots in Oakland. As far as my plate, them dry fried ribs could have been bigger than that. LOL! Man I was hot when I opened my plate.

Egg Roll Kitchen is right across from the notorious Chico's Liquor, smack dab in the heart of the hood. Walking in, you're immediately hit with signs laying down the law: no paying with all change, no sneaky business with orders, and you get one sauce per item unless you're ready to part with 25 cents per extra shrimp. Rules and regulations galore. The decor? yeah this isn't my usual spot, but my dad swears by their house chow mein, so I had to give it a shot. I ordered double meat, threw in an extra four bucks for it, and when I opened the box, it looked like the meat decided to take the day off. Seriously, check out the pics--barely a sliver of meat on top. But after a few forks down, there was some. Honestly, it was super greasy and salty. Not my type of thing, but I could see the appeal if I was drunk, car-less, and had to walk here from Eastmont Mall. From that perspective, this would be a glorious find. But if you have a car, just drive anywhere else. If you actually from this area, you've definitely seen the chef in his apron, smoking a cigarette out the side door before, tell me Im lying. Thanks for reading, and until next time, keep those taste buds adventurous!

Beef chow Mein (9) not worthy!

Egg Roll Kitchen has been here for literally decades. had the food here a while back (decade or 2 or 3). nostalgia brought me back. sadly, it may have been an off day or the head chef wasn't in or he was the guy sweeping the floors. offerings: fried items, chow mein, chop suey, egg rolls, burgers?, fried rice, appetizers, combos, etc. very limited menu eats: beef chow mein (9 tax included) -sad greasy, chewy noodles with a few pieces of sliced beef, celery, bean sprout, onions, etc. portion size the usual, slightly salty, no other flavors. -thts is the lst chinese take out for awhile, maybe this year. in house for lunch yes in contra costa? 3.5 stars good value but da food wasn't good today. take outs: -little legal parking in area. -panda express does chinese food better but i wouldn't recommend going there. (not a good value).

This place looked hella suspect but my friend said it was the best Chinese food in the bay so why not. Parking was tough, and the area looked rough. I kept having to look over my shoulder but it's all good. There was a good amount of people coming in and out so that was a good sign. You order from the window, and they have these old school menus with the lettering you pin on a bulletin board, I have not seen this since elementary school. I ordered the dry fried ribs, fried prawns and fried rice. Hella bomb! Dry Fried Ribs were crispy, but super tender inside. The fried prawns were massive and paired perfectly with sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was ok, it was just rice to me. I recommend coming here in the middle of the week during the day. I would come again

This place is definitely an oldie but goodie! I had not been here in a really long time, but decided to go for lunch one day and got something really simple. I really appreciated being able to order everything over the phone and having it ready when I got there. Just walked right up gave them. My order number paid in cash was able to go. The food was just as tasty as I remembered. It's one of those spots that if you're not familiar with it, you might be a little skeptical to go in but trust me it's worth it. They still do a lot of things very "old-school" and I kind of like that. I've posted some recent photos of their menu options, but they still have listed on the wall. Definitely worth a try if you were in the area.

Usually we go next door to Szechuan kitchen but they were closed due to being out of the country. My husband and I decided to give this place a try! The service was excellent, they were very friendly! The prices were cheap and affordable. We order the number 1 combination comes with pork fried rice and 6 fried ribs. The food was absolutely delicious! The only difference between Egg roll kitchen and Szechuan Kitchen is Szechuan gives you bigger portions but egg roll kitchen is slightly better with the flavor.

Pork is not supposed to be brown, t It should be white inside, red outside, they are being cheap&don't care about the customers they serve

The parking lot was crowded with a bunch of people hanging out in cars standing around outside and at first I felt a little nervous about parking and going in. After a few minutes of assessing the situation, It seemed ok so I got out and went inside. Once inside, it seemed very light fun and casual. The employees don't seem to wear uniforms - instead they wear all different shirts with hyphy burger on them and jeans. The menu is simple - burgers, fries shakes and drinks and I noticed the menu said there was a new pastrami sandwich. The burger was OUTSTANDING!! ! The potato bum was very soft and fresh. The meat was a smash burger and it was hot and well seasoned. The fries were nothing really special but they were hot and fresh, which is very important to me! The decor inside is very simple with a few colorful tables and chairs. We did have to wait a bit longer than expected since it wasn't too crowded, but the burger was well worth the wait. If I ever find myself in the area I'd definitely stop in again! This burger joint is Kym approved!

Wow we were pretty impressed. The burger landed in a 2 way tie in 3rd place. Cool and fun decor, and had a convenient amount of parking. The staff was awesome. Friendly and on point. The Food: Burnout Burger + pastrami: Okay there are two things I will ALWAYS get on a burger if available: a fried egg or pastrami. The burger was excellent. The bun was soft and spongy but held up till the last bite. The patty had the perfect crispy smash burger quality to it and the pickles and peperonchini added a bit of salty crunch to things. The cheese added richness as did the pastrami. You Feel me Sauce was a perfect accompaniment. It seemed to have bread and butter pickle brine in it and it and I could probably eat it with just a spoon. The grilled onion added a sweet unami element as well. Loaded Fries: OMG this one was good as well. basically take everything from the burger down to the patty and put it on fries. Good god man the whole ensemble coupled with a few of the fries with their salty goodness and you have a perfect bite. Captain Crunch Shake: Think and creamy and the cereal added a textural element to it. I would advice a fast consumption however as the cereal get soggy pretty quickly. Sheer disappointment…read more I've come to this location maybe a few times. Never really had a great experience but didn't have a bad experience. I haven't been here enough to formulate an opinion for feedback. Yesterday however, i had an order that should've been ready to go as ordered on the app. I leave my car to go inside and there is a male worker, who was mopping the floor. Decided to lock the door from the inside infront of my face. I was shocked, I walk to the other side and he's speed walking to lock it i front of my face. I go back to the other side, the lobby isn't supposed to be closed till 6:00 PM, so why are we closing it before? When a customer let me in, he proceeded to try to kick me out. Never the less, i got the food but in no way or form should that lobby have been closed. Then asking me to go to the drive thru lane? Make it make sense. We definitely expected a long wait in the line to place our order but we certainly didn't expect to have to wait 25 minutes when they told me to pull over to the side and that they would bring my order out to me. Meanwhile several cars are going by getting their orders and leaving..I had to go knock on the glass door for somebody to come to me and ask where is my order and the person who answered the door said let me go get a manager for you, but before that happened the manager spoke on an intercom that I can hear outside in a very very rude tone and said "we're waiting on your extra crispy chicken" but it was the way she said it over the intercom instead of coming to the door to talk to me. Not only that, but when we got the food it wasn't even crispy it was like KFC original recipe texture and it was cold!!! I asked for my bread to be grilled on both sides It wasn't... so either they got mad that I was knocking on the door and gave me some crappy food or this is just how the service is here on a regular. The customer service there was absolutely horrible and it wasn't worth that long drive because our food was not that great. It is as cold AND My order was incorrect. I would highly recommend you think twice before you drive out here. And for the record this is Saturday it was at 1:00 and it was the manager on duty that got on the intercom to speak to me rudely.

But since then and nowadays they have tougher competition that I prefer to go to over them and recently started to develop a hate and love relationship here. It used to be my die hard go to taco truck. This truck for me makes delicious carnitas burritos and pollo tacos. And a sleeper is the al pastor burrito and suadero tacos. That al pastor isn't made from the trompo but the seasoning and juiciness of their version in the burrito is what makes it one of the best burrito options on there if you haven't tried it. Carnitas burritos is super delicious because you get that nice crispiness of the fried tender pork with the rice, cheese and sour cream. I like to ask for onions, cilantro and tomato in mines for variety and freshness to cut the heaviness of the fats and dairy. Tacos I normally would get or recommend is the Carnitas, Pollo, Cabeza, Suadero, and Asada. Carnitas are as delicious as explained with the burrito. Pollo or known as chicken tacos are super tender and juicy. It's also very flavorful, and one of my favorite chicken tacos to get here because most places don't make chicken very well and are usually very dry. The cabeza is super tender and a great option. Suadero just like the asada is just a better version of the asada cut. It's packed with more flavor and seasoning than the asada and slightly more tender which is why I prefer it to the regular steak. I tend to find the asada more dry and sometimes tough. Recently the pricing doesn't reflect on the fairness of the portion size. $4 tacos but the meats aren't as packed. Felt like they started to skimp because of rising costs but has been happening before then. $15 burrito but the sizing isn't as filling as it used to be. I started to see more rice than meat. They've also started to be very stingy with a huge attitude especially the gentleman that works on the pick up station when asking for extra pickled veggies, limes and salsa. And it happens every time for the past several years now. For example he gave me 2 limes, 4 pieces of sliced pickled carrots, 2 slices of pickled jalapenos, 3 radishes, and 1 rojo salsa for an order of a super burrito and 7 tacos. When I asked for extras the gentleman gave me an attitude and said he already did and won't give more. Only reason I still go here is because it's close to home and if my favorite spots for tacos are closed for the night.
