This review is long overdue, Kevin of Efficiency Window replaced all the original (leaking single pane) windows and sliding patio door in our 60s era house in 2017 with Simonton windows. He worked quickly in a tight timeline between us closing on the house and doing necessary repairs, termite fumigation, all before we needed to move in. The windows look great and are so well sealed we have not had any drafts or smoke coming in even during the 2020 wildfires. These windows were an upgrade in appearance as well as energy efficiency. We are very happy with the Simonton windows - which Kevin recommended as maximum glass area for replacement windows, longevity and warranty support - and very happy with Kevin's work! He just came back out to install a replacement screen door on our patio slider under warranty as the latch had broken, and both the manufacturer and Efficiency window took care of this very, well, efficiently! read more

Kevin the owner does a meticulous install himself with one long time assistant Vic, Vs those window companies that essentially hire a lot of guys and do it as quickly and cheaply as possible. No house is exactly square. Mine was built in 1956 and Kevin made the Windows fit perfect with excellent finish carpentry on the interior and exterior. I spent extra $$ on dark espresso exterior and it was well worth it. I'm remodeling the house so as of the date of my review its a work in progress , but the Windows look great. Drive by 204 Dimond st. Off walnut, city of Santa Cruz and see for yourself. I got other bids from people I know to do good work. Kevin's bid was very competitive. I requested two changes which I knew added $80. Plus extra labor and time to hand select the redwood trim. I reminded Kevin about the extra $$ and he said just pay the original bid. He totally surprised me by telling me I will receive a $300. Cash card from Simington Windows by submitting an online rebate form he provides. I would never have known about the rebate and I'm sure many less honest installers just pocket the rebate themselves. I have bought many replacement Windows over the last 30 years Pella, Anderson, etc. I can say Simonton brand is as good as any and far better than most. I can't say enough amazing things about working with Kevin and Efficiency Windows. From the estimate to the service to the follow-up he is a true professional. Kevin and his team installed nine new windows in my home (including slider) in Pacific Grove. He knew I could not be onsite the whole time so he provided the first estimate over the phone with the dimensions I sent. Then he came onsite (perfectly on time which is tough given traffic) to take measurements and finalize estimate (which came in exactly the same). He was very flexible with his scheduling and even moved the date when I had a work conflict. He installed all the windows in a day and a half. I wasn't able to be there the second day but I had full trust in him to keep things neat and lock things up. They are so clean you would hardly know they were there which is amazing with this type of work. Also, they were so careful you literally can not see any stucco removed on the outside of the house. We decided to replace six windows and two sliding glass doors on our 60's Santa Cruz home. Based on the positive reviews on yelp, we called Efficiency Windows for an estimate and we are glad we did. Kevin came out, measured everything out and gave us a very competitive bid. He was very straightforward, explaining the whole process. Kevin's craftsmanship is impressive. I tend to be a perfectionist and the best compliment I can pay him is he did the job above and beyond my expectations. To Kevin a sixteenth of an inch is very important. He and his assistant used great care to make sure the windows were plumb and the reveals were precisely matched. Everything was caulked and sealed properly and the area completely cleaned up at the end of the day. The Simonton windows are beautiful and the whole house is nice and cozy now. We have had a number of different contractors work on our house over the past 12 months and I can say that Efficiency Windows was THE top contractor we have hired. As good as it gets! We have a home in Santa Cruz close to the beach. Sometimes the weather conditions are quite severe and there were problems with leaks. So it was a very important decision to make sure we hired the right person to get the right windows and get them installed efficiently and correctly. What is most impressive about Kevin is that he is matter-of-fact, honest, responsible, experienced, and completely competent. It is so refreshing.
