This place was recommended by the landlord of the guest house where I stayed in Oban. I walked down to the pier to find that they weren't open for dinner yet, and asked if I could get a table. Most of their reservations were for later in the evening, so they agreed to seat me as soon as the doors opened. I was seated with a lovely view of the bay, had myself a glass of Oban, very much enjoyed the soup (I ate light because I wanted dessert), and their lemon cheesecake was absolutely, un-exaggeratedly, delightfully to die for. The very best part of the whole experience was that no less than three staff members remembered my name when they wished me a good evening. The staff was very friendly, and I would eat at Ee-usk again in a heartbeat. read more

They have a good offering of seafood and cooked my scallops excellently, however could do with better menu variety. My scallops were served with two sides, potatoes and assorted greens, both in similar white/cream sauces. Most of the main dishes on the menu were the same. Would be great if they had a few other choices for how you want your seafood done. read more

Fantastic mussels - better than any I had in Belgium. Actually I went back a second time to have them again. As for the Rest of the menu, the main dishes were solid but not inspired. The Wine list was well chosen, but seemed a bit expensive. The ambience is kind of bistro - you can laugh a little loud at something and no one will mind. read more

I've been to EE-USK a few times over the years and thought i best get round to reviewing it. We had a surprise visit to Oban yesterday when the weather was lovely and decided to lunch at this fantastic seafood restaurant. It is situated on the North Pier and shares the space with a Pizzeria. It has a fantastic view of the harbour and interior is very much like a bistro. We went at lunch time so we could take our 8 year old with us after 5.45pm no children are permitted due to their drinks license. We managed to bag a window seat with excellent views across the harbour. The menu was excellent my husband and my son shared a big bowl of Mussels and they both said they were the best they had ever tasted! The food was so fresh and really affordable all three of us had 2 courses which came to £75 bareing in mind i had half a lobster for my main which was just delicious! Enjoyed a fine dinner here after a trip over to Mull for the day. We appreciated the coat rack in the hallway, which kept our dripping rain gear out of the way. The fish we had was fresh and high-caliber. Service was prompt and attentive, though they still perform that peculiar mid-'90s ritual of offering cracked pepper from a mill the size of a cricket bat on anything you order. Extraneous épices notwithstanding, don't miss the fishcakes - regular or Thai. They're marvelous. We liked the cocktails and the wine selection was reasonably priced and well-thought-out. Offering fine dining to compliment Piazza's family friendly dining experience. We only had time for a main course (Strictly Come Dancing was calling) but the dining experience was lovely; the wood was beautifully cooked and the staff impeccable. Decent food and atmosphere, but nothing all that special. This restaurant was recommended to us by the woman working st the B&B where we stayed. It does seem to be a popular place for dinner, and we were only able to get a pretty late reservation at 8:30. Every table was pretty much full and they were turning people away at the door, so the reservation was a good idea. The decor of the restaurant kind of seems like an afterthought. The inside is painted a sort of pastel yellow and the furnishing is very casual. The overall vibe I got from the place was that of a breakfast/brunch only restaurant in the U.S. Service was okay. The food was also just okay to meh. We got a sampler dish to start, which included something call salmon packets, Thai dish cakes, and mussels. The salmon packets were great; it's smoked salmon wrapped around crab I believed. The mussels were also terrific. The fish cakes, however, were not good. The texture was too dry. I also ordered the whole dressed crab with salad and chips. First this was not a whole crab.... I'm pretty sure the claw meat was not included. I guess in the U.K. they also serve the brown crab meat, which is that goopy stuff you find in the carapace rather than the white flaky meat in the legs. I have never seen a restaurant actually serve this, and it's not something I prefer to eat. Anyway, given that this was about half of the crab meat I was given, I felt like I wasn't really getting much. The chips that came with the crab were also pretty middling. Oh well. Probably should have ordered something else. But anyway, the food here really didn't strike me as something that sets this place apart. read more

Fantastically fresh seafood. Located right on the water with some tables having a view of the boats out front. The seafood platter was huge with the highlight being langoustine. Mussels were also a good choice for main. Only thing disappointing was the baked monkfish starter that was mostly breading. read more

My husband and I had a fabulous meal at EE USK in Oban on Aug 8, 2018. We both had the fish chowder which was wonderful. I am not a real fish lover but the halibut was delicious. My husband had the haddock which he enjoyed. The service was prompt and pleasant. I expected more from this popular seafood restaurant in Scotland's seafood capital. On a Sunday night, Ee-Usk was predictably crowded, but our group of four had reservations and we were promptly seated at a choice table with a view of Oban Bay. Cutting to the chase, the food was fine, the service was somewhat lacking, and the decibel level was high. Glad we had a good view. Two of our group ordered the seafood cakes. They were good, but not notable. Mussels and halibut also made their way to the table. The mussels were small and were prepared in a predictable wine and garlic butter sauce. The halibut was fresh and flakey. The wait staff seemed somewhat inexperienced and unable to keep up with the Sunday evening crowd. One server, for example, brought a second order of mussels to the table although we had not ordered it; and then brought it back two minutes later asking if we were sure we hadn't ordered it. Yep, we were sure. Service was slow. There seemed to be confusion. Perhaps it isn't so, but Ee-Usk seemed like a haven for tourists (yes, I know we were tourists) that caters to the masses. There was nothing exciting about the preparation or presentation of the food. In Oban, I just expected more. Perhaps on another day, with other wait staff, with less of a crowd, I'd get what I expected. But then again, maybe not. read more

We visited both the Piazza and Pasta place and the Eeusk seafood restaurant. In the pizza place, food was the worst we had in one week, service was so so. The next day we tried the seafood one, the oyster and mussels were good, but the fish was like rubber and I think I can cook better with frozen fish myself. The sauce tastes like the canned one from supermarket. Service is just as bad, the waitress seems to be part-time student seasonal helper and has no intention whatsoever to make us feel welcome. There is no justification for being 'the' seafood restaurant of U.K. We will not go there again even if it is for free. read more

Very disappointed. The staff were pleasant, our starters were nice, main course awful. I had chilli fish cakes which I had to swap with my husband as I was not enjoying them, swimming in grease and all I could taste was chilli. His haddock was tasty but again swimming in grease along with the chips. Hot plates, which is good for hot food but not salad. No one bothered to ask how our food was, and I couldn't be bothered to find a staff member to let them know. Several people recommended this place, so I hope it isn't the best that Oban can manage. read more

We loved this place. The view is the best, and we were there late on the day of summer solstice, and got to see the sunset from their glassed-round view. The sticky toffee pudding was the best we had on our 1700 mile drive round the UK, (we tried it in England, Scotland, and Wales ). Our scallops were the best as well. Everything was perfect. Had a couple of hours to spend in Oban before getting on the Ferry to Port Ellen and had a nice lunch here. Has a nice selection of wines (rare in Scotland) and a very fresh seafood platter. Mussels are like I've never tasted anywhere! Friend had a steak which was also delicious. Would definitely come back here if I ever make a return trip. read more

A total waste of my money. Hugely overpriced with meagre portions. Out total bill was £82 for 2, starters 2 mains, 2 oysters and a bottle of wine. I left still feeling hungry. For starters we ordered the bowl of Mussels in white wine and garlic butter, what we actually got was about 7 or 8 tiny mussels in dirty water. I had the scallops in "mornay sauce" for starters, what I actually got was 4 tiny scallops poorly cooked with a sprinkle of salad leafs and a tasteless mornay sauce. For the Main course we ordered 2 of the days "special" which was Lobster and chips. What we actually got was a 1/4 of a diced potato, a sprinkle of rocket leafs and a tiny lobster halfed with the chopped lobster meat put back in the shell. Poor, poor poor. Tiny portions, no effort or imagination put into the dishes. What you will get is an eye watering bill and you will leave still hungry. Do not waste your money in this place I would rate this restaurant a -5 read more

The food is good..The management, now that's a different story..Whilst having finished our food I was sipping my wine ( husband was in the toilet ), when a loud glass smashing noise made me jump..Turns out a customer up in the mezzanine area accidently knocked a glass through the spaces in the metal framing and it smashed on the tile floor behind me. I was showered in shards of glass. It was in my hair, hit my hand, shoulder, and breast bone.I was shaking like a leaf with fright. The staff came across to see if I was alright. One member of staff said that this had happened before.I did not have any cuts which was good as I take blood thinners for a heart condition and could have been awful if I had a bad bleed..One older member of staff came over and laughed and she said to me, at least you aren't bleeding..Just as well I wasn't bleeding..We paid the bill and went back to the hotel where my husband proceded to pick glass out of my hair...When we got home on the Monday I phoned Argyll & Bute Health & Safety..After paying a visit I was told that the restaurant owners would be adding a safety barrier to the Iron work..I have written to the owners on 3 occasions to explain how hurt and angry at the member of staff having a laugh about what happened..Never had a letter yet from them. She wouldn't have laughed if that glass had badly cut me..Now thinking of getting my solicitor to get in touch with them..So we won't be going back. read more
