    Mussels and King scallops
    Eleanor B.

Absolutely delicious. We shared a prawn salad sandwich, order of King Scallops (awesome) and an order of freshly cooked mussels in wine & herbs. This was the day after the storm Amy came through and it was still cold, windy and a little rainy. Warmed us up inside and out!

It's always a must rain or shine whenever I'm in Oban and wanting seafood. More likely rain than sun... There's the occasional nice sunny day. Fresh seafood from the days catch straight to the counter. We always have the grand platter which is basically everything. Loads of steamed mussels in the garlic sauce. Smoked salmon, a pair of scallops, loads of prawns, langoustines, crab claws, a whole lobster and so on. It is big so sharing is always great. All fresh. Also loads of seafood to order as well. While crabs and lobster. Scallops, fresh seafood sandwiches which we did pick up 6 to go. The prawns, crab and smoked salmon. It's a must try if you haven't already. Highly recommend.

Our innkeeper recommended this restaurant. The seafood comes directly off the boat and into the restaurant. It's literally hours from the water. You read the menu board and order at the counter. Be warned that this place only takes cash. We asked for an order of prawn tails and scallops. It took around 15 minutes to cook them. Both dishes cost £13 each. We received them on two paper plates. They substituted langoustines for my prawn tails. The langoustines tasted good, but there were only about 10 or so of these small creatures. My wife got 5 scallops. Each of us had two slices of bread, one piece of lettuce and two small pieces of tomato. We spent £26 for that. In New England USA, you can spend $10 more and get a single plate full of seafood and chips. I think we will stick with the seafood shack in our region.

Seafood lovers... This is a must have place! Cash only! Oysters were fresh.. Scallops were big. Crab sandwich was delicious. Mussels were tasty. Wish they didn't steam so long cuz it shrunk a little.

    Best mussels ever!

This place is everything everybody has previously raved about. We purposely stayed in Oban so we could eat at the shack. We ended up going there twice. I'm not a huge mussel fan but these were definitely the best I've ever had. And the scallops were incredible! We enjoyed scallops on both visits. The staff were very friendly and quite helpful with our selections. If you are Oban just go.

Incredibly fresh seafood. A shack by the ferry, known for its shellfish. We had a lobster and scallops. Both were good and quite fresh. Prices were a little high for a shack but still a nice lunch.

The oysters had more intrigue and complexity - - they really had subtle dimension of flavor - - so incredibly fresh too. The green shack is an experience all in its own, perched on the quay facing the harbor, steaming mussels coming from the kitchen, piles of seafood tempting you in the displays. Everything real here - - it's all about the seafood. And GREAT prices. Our downfall was we got there just before 6pm, ordered some oysters, and before we could order MORE oysters and those steaming mussels, they closed. Making plans to go back.

The highlight of our Isle of Skye 3 days 2 nights stay which would otherwise be not totally remarkable. The scallops, the salmon, the mussels and above all the oysters...were out of the world! It has made the entire family of 11 standing to eat in the shed in the wind and rain worth it. The best part is the freshness of the seafood of course, but the second best part is the competitive pricing !! £80 for a seafood feast for a family of 11 big eaters and seafood lovers! Not something you can get in America!

    Tami K.

YES! YES! YES! Nothing beats fresh seafood by the dock! The mussels were less than £4, delicious and melted in your mouth. Plus, the serving size was very generous. I'm glad I got to visit here at least once during my stay in Oban!

    Seafood platter for 2

Worth eating early (they close at 6pm). We were visiting and only had two nights for food and decided to spend one of them at Green Shack. We didn't realize they only took cash (we should have thought ahead) so although we went there with the intention of getting the grand platter, we found out we only had enough cash on us to get the platter for 2 (basically same thing without lobster). It was plenty of food for the two of us regardless. Our American palates loved the crab claws, smoked salmon, and shrimp. The raw calamari, pickled herring, and the massive amount of mussels were a little different for us, but we enjoyed it. If we were going back we would probably order the items we liked most a la carte instead of wasting too many mussels, but we would definitely go back. The seafood is fresh and the experience eating with your hands standing up on the dock is worth eating there alone.

The best fresh seafood any where near here. The value is amazing! I would have paid three or four times what they asked.

Whilst waiting for the ferry to Barra me and my friend decided to get a deluxe seafood platter.. We decided to go for take away as we were soon going to board the ferry, so sat in the car to eat it.. The box contained a whole lobster, 2 crab claws, 2 scallops, 2 langustines, loads of mussels, small prawns, medium prawns, razor clams, clams and calamari.. It also came with two dips and some salad.. All this for just £27.. Total bargain and fresh.. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.. There is also the option to sit in on a wee bench and table.. But be prepared to be rained on.. On my route back I stopped in again and got 3 crab claws (my favourite) the cost was £2.30 they go by weight.. I sat on the harbour wall to eat them which was just prefect and I managed to finish them before the rain started.. This place is a must if you are in Oban..

The interior is draped in contemporary decor, and there is scenic water views overlooking the harbor. The holiday lights set the mood. The food was delicious and the seafood was fresh. It's a very austere interior -- all glass -- but intentional for the lights out views of the working fishing harbor. Of course we had to have the oysters! They were very deep cups; meaty; and creamy, unlike any oyster I've had before. For American sensibilities, no cocktail sauce, or mignonette, which disappointed my husband, but I was fine with it. Lots of lemon is the Scottish way! We also had one of their specials, the lobster & langoustine cocktail, which, again for American sensibilities, was lobster & langoustine bits on lettuce, with a DELICIOUS rose dressing, not the meat in a martini glass with sauce.... Our dining partners had beautiful, plump mussels, which they shared and devoured; another had the open faced salmon, also scraped clean from the plate. We returned the next day for a reservation I'd made online, only to find we weren't on the list. Since reservations in Scotland are more than recommended, we asked for help from our desk agent, who said this happens at eeusk a good bit. So, please be sure to have an email confirmation, or simply call/stop in yourself to make your resy. Cheers!
