I'm a gearhead. I've been through many a project car and I'm extremely particular with services and sourcing parts for my cars. So much so, that I do just about all repairs, maintenance, and upgrades myself. Hell, I've built quite my own little shop in the process. It's a passion of mine. But there are some things which you really just shouldn't do, as much as you want to try. Things like wheel alignments. Things like flashing your ECU with a Stage 2 APR Tune. Things like LS Swapping a mk4 supra (just don't do that). Here's my little story: My A/C compressor went out in my Montero this summer. My plan was to replace the compressor, condenser, accumulator and drier myself. However, to do this safely and responsibly (and legally) I needed to discharge my A/C Refrigerant. If you're familiar with R134a, it's about 1,000 times worse for the environment than CO2 - so you can't just vent it out in the air. Not ethically anyway. To recycle R134a the right way, you need a machine that costs hundreds (and in some cases thousands) of dollars. For a shop this type of machine is a necessary tool, but for a dude with a garage and a silly little project car? Not so much. I called around to just about every shop in the area and got the run around "nah we don't do that anymore we have to do the whole replacement service" or "ah my machine can't do that" blah blah blah. And then a couple days ago I was driving by sweating in this crazy heat and decided I'd pop into Edwin's shop. I gave him my spiel, "I just need the freon discharged so I can do the repair myself, and then I'll come back to get it charged again" and he was like "ah no problem. We can do that." Gave me some advice to make sure we were on the same page and everything. I do the repair, bring it back, filled right back up without a hitch with all the new parts. A/C Blows Ice cold. No problem. We talked for about 20 mins after just kinda shooting the breeze, swapping stories about where we source 3.8 flywheels and how to repair impossible-to-find window regulators on older cars. I also noticed all the beautiful old cars he had around the shop. Special little rarities. The Porsche Speedster. The Delorean in the garage. A beautiful IrocZ Camaro with the T-Tops. A beautiful old studebaker. A brand new Jag F-Type sitting next to an older Jag XK8. An Xterra with ARB accoutrements. It's clear his customers respect his wisdom. You can tell this is not just a job for Edwin, but it's a passion of his. I gotta say, there are a handful of times when I find a mechanic that is so open and easy to talk to as Edwin. But it's very refreshing. Ronaldo at Eurozone is really great. Tony at Silverlake Auto is good dude. Edwin? Dude, he gets it. He not only listens, but he'll hear you. I don't need a mechanic very often as I usually do this stuff myself, but I'll be referring everyone I know to him, that's for sure. P.S. If you're concerned at all about price, he's exceptionally reasonable.

I bought a little weekend car that seemed like 90% ready to drive and just needed a little work on the carburetor to drive like a champ. At least that was my diagnosis of the car, which turned out being quite wrong. Towed my car to Edwin's shop, because I saw the reviews and wanted to trust a local mechanic with my car instead of taking it to one of the Italian car specialists in the valley for a bigger bill. I left it on Monday late and was told that I would get a call Weds to let me know what they saw. I called on Weds because I couldn't wait for their call, and Linda told me that they had to clear the gas tank and refill it because the gas that I had in there "was dead." That seemed plausible, it was sitting for about 4 months. Waited a couple more days to get the call to hear the car was ready and the call did not come. I called back and they were still adjusting the carburetor and trying to figure out why it didn't idle properly. 4 days in the shop with Edwin and I was starting to get concerned and started to think I should have taken it to the Italian specialists instead. I drove to see the car and Edwin explained the problem they found. Carburetor needed to be taken apart and resealed - basically rebuilt. Then they had to also seal the exhaust manifold. 10 days at the shop and the communication was a little patchy but the work looked good. Long story short, the car was a headache but Edwin took care of it and it did not cost me a small fortune. At last my car is back in my hands several weeks after dropping it off and it runs well. Edwin did a great job with it. It runs and sounds like a proper purring Italian engine. Edwin was thorough and efficient in his diagnosis and repairs. The work took longer than expected but was well worth the wait. This is going to be my go to shop for this car from now on. Thanks guys.

Charge me $350 to install an $80 starter... I read some of his reviews and thought his prices would be fair but I thought wrong ‍
