Who needs to join a country club when you have a staff as excellent as these guys?
Twenty years ago I was training for triathlons much like the IronMan competitions. After tanning for 25 minutes, consuming three power bars, and washing them down with pure creatine and water, I stopped into Edwin Watts to buy a shirt two sizes too small to show off my ripped biceps. Well, that's all it took because after the customer service I received I bought my first set of irons. Twenty years later and 125 pounds heavier, I still love Edwin Watts and golf! I can't run for more than 2 minutes or ride a bike without my butt hurting afterwards but I can hit a golf ball 285 yards so take that Lance Armstrong!
Jay and his amazing staff are the best. Shaun, Robert, Kevin, Chris, and now Logan are the most courteous and professional guys ever. Not only do they know about golf but ask any of them questions about bowling, BMX bikes, chicken salad, and even DisneyWorld and they'll never steer you in the wrong direction. I asked Jay about the best places to take my family on vacation when I was purchasing my set of irons. He suggested DisneyWorld. My family and I went and guess what? Jay was right. We loved it and we've been back 6 times in five years. Maybe one day I'll take my clubs to Orlando.
Sure I've been to country clubs in Memphis and have seen the service they give their members. It's sub par compared to Edwin Watts. Besides, the guys at Watts don't talk bad about you when you leave like some pro shops do in this area. There's a reason PGA Tour pros and Memphis celebs like David Wolff come here when they're in town rather than go anywhere else.
Robert is the best when it comes to bending, re-gripping, or re-shafting a club when those trees get in the way. I've never had a putter grip or any other grip for that matter put on crooked by Robert. They're as straight as a Southern Baptist. Go to some of these used golf stores in town and you'll see how messed up the grips are. You'll know these clubs weren't taken care of because if the previous owner had cared about his clubs, he would have taken them to Robert. He knows his stuff and nobody can hold a candle to him.
Most people don't know this but when Arnold Palmer came into the store in 1999, he asked Kevin what he was drinking. Kevin told him "Iced tea and lemonade." The rest is history. Believe me, I was there and saw it with my own eyes.
These guys are legendary. Because of their expert advice, I fired my life coach. With the money I've saved from paying that joker I can now afford Titleist Pro V1s. Thanks Edwin Watts! read more
