If you are looking for a good family primary care provider, my experience with Madison Family…read moreMedicine has been nothing less than a solid five star rating. They recently moved from Madison Avenue to E. Countyline Rd, in Greenwood located conveniently across the street from the new Costco. They are part of the Franciscan Physician Group. Note their new name is now Madison Family Medicine (previous name was Madison Avenue Family Practice). I paid a recent wellness visit to my primary care physician, Dr. Shelley Stiner, DO, who practices at this facility. Upon arriving at their beautiful new location, I found the facility to have a large waiting area with plenty of seating, magazines and flat screen TVs to enjoy while waiting for my appointment. The staff has always been very friendly from the front desk to the nursing assistants. Dr. Stiner always listens carefully to my concerns and offers healthy alternatives to prescriptions where possible. She is very pleasant and professional. I have always had short wait times on all of my visits and scheduling for appointments or a referral has been very easy when working with their office staff. Lastly, I love their "My Chart", web portal....you can schedule appointments see your past visits, Billings, request a prescription refill and various other things related to your healthcare experiences. They have an excellent response time to their emails that have been submitted to this portal. After each visit I receive an emailed survey of my most recent visit to complete if I choose to do so. I have always seen Dr. Stiner, but I believe they have at least one nurse practitioner and possibly more and other doctors available. For this large of facility I'm sure they have to have other physicians, but I don't have that information. Actually as I was walking out the door I saw sign for a new physician. (See photo attached) If you are ever in need of a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, I highly recommend giving Dr. Stiner a try if she is accepting new patients. I have been with her for approximately 1 1/2 years due to my doctor retiring and wanting to try a DO for my healthcare needs. Due to her high demand, I had to wait initially about six months until she was able to accept a new patient. (I had to keep calling every so often to see if they were accepting new patients). I hit it lucky I guess and on one call was told she was taking on new patients. At this point in time, I'm very happy with their services and the new location of this practice. Review #28 08/11/16

It's Wednesday; my work time starts at 6 am, as I work at a warehouse. I already took off for 4 hours, from 6 am to 10 am, and have to be back to work no later than 10:30 am. I was there at 9:50 am; they gave me a paper to sign, and on it said $255 for the office visit. I immediately asked her, and she replied to me that that price is if they are going to do anything to me. I told her that $225 is too much, and she said if they are not doing anything, then the prices will be lower. Then I went to sit and wait till they called me into the room. 10 minutes later, at 10:10 am, I was in the room, and I also waited for another 10 more minutes for my nurse practitioner. She came into the room, said hi, and asked me how I feel, what is bothering me, and we talked about my cough and prescriptions. She asked me if I wanted to do blood work in 2 weeks?! That whole talk might have been a maximum of 15 minutes, but when I got out of the room to pay, they charged me $495 just for the visit. Nothing else was done, and they explained to me that the prescriptions are the regular office visit charge and that different questions and symptoms regarding coughs are out of the regular office charge. She knows I have 8 people in the house and a dog; the $495 is way too much for regular people. I'm not rich; she knows it. I just graduated in December and have 3 part-time jobs, and even if I make lots of money, almost $500 just for a doctor's office visit is way too much for one person's charge! I keep asking them at the checkout desk how come that asking about a cough is not a regular thing to ask the doctor during a regular appointment about what you came for sickness??? And they said it's not included; questions and coughs are out of the office charge, and most of the questions my nurse asked me, not me. So why do I have to pay?! So I asked that girl at the checkout desk why no one sent me notifications about the price change. She called the lady from the front desk to help her explain, but neither of them could explain why, what for that price, and how questions about how I feel and my cough symptoms are not a regular appointment visit. I told them the usual price I have always paid for a regular visit like yesterday was $117 - max $147 for 11+ years, and why no one contacted me, emailed, called, or texted me to tell me that the prices have now changed and are going to be much higher??? None of them can answer me and explain why my cough symptoms are not included in the regular office visit?! When I got back home, I checked my email to see if maybe they sent something, but no, I did not get any emails from them. Only texts with reminders of each of my visits, and none of them have any information about the office visit price. I wonder if it's because I'm not American; I'm Ukrainian? But for all these 11+ years, I've been hardworking, paying taxes, paying my bills, never committed any crimes, going all by the law, and never received any government assistance or help. Why such a terrible act from them towards me?! Or is this how they treat everyone who self-pays? They don't care about where you are from; all they care about is profit for them, not patients. So be very careful; they are scamming people in the office at checkout. This experience has been nothing short of frustrating and deeply disappointing. I strongly advise others to be cautious when considering this practice, as it seems they prioritize profit over patient care. I will not be returning.

I had gone to this practice comprised of two doctors for many years. One of the main problems I…read morehad with this practice is that I had to always wait a minimum of an hour or more when I had an appointment. This would include being in the waiting room, as well as the examining room. The strange thing is, there was never really anyone else in the waiting room with me; maybe two people at the most. When I finally got to see one of the doctors - Dr. Klaasen, he seemed to be fairly relaxed and friendly. For the most part, he seemed to be able to diagnose and attend to my medical needs, although sometimes he seemed disorganized as far as being able to review my medical history prior to and during my visit. Finally, I was not very happy recently when I wanted him to see my son as a new patient because he is getting old enough to go to a regular doctor instead of a pediatrician. Since most of my family had seen the doctor over the years, I assumed that he would take him in as a patient. Au contraire. I was informed by a woman in the front office that he is not taking new patients. She said she will ask the doctor and would call me back. When she called me back, she said he would not be able to accept my son as a patient. It was very annoying and made me question their businesses name : Greenwood FAMILY practice. I even tried to reason with the woman by informing her that my daughter who does not live in this area anymore would not be seeing him again, or at least anytime soon,..... SO I logically thought that my son could take her open place/position. The woman quickly rejected my suggestion before informing and asking the doctor about that scenario. She then quickly tried to end the call. It was not professional whatsoever and very unsympathetic. I am probably done with this practice overall. I guess that would be another opening that they will never be aware of; or more so, take advantage of.
