To my pleasant surprise, this outpatient surgical center exceeded my expectations…read more Used the Waze app to find which part of the hospital we need. It did help tremendously. It helped us to go directly to this surgical center. We didn't need to navigate ourselves through the mammoth hospital parking lot or use their shuttle. Yes, this place has a shuttle service-I know...right? I'm thrilled about it. Where to find the shuttle is easy. Locating your vehicle afterwards is another story. I will say this though, having a key fob helps. Honked our way to our car just fine & dandy. Figuring out which suite upon entering the building was a challenge. Me being me, I tend to appreciate signage. I'm a bit goofy like that so...as we ended up in the wrong medical office. A kind employee was able to advise us that our path was merely across the hall. So off we went. No skipping was involved, you'll know why later ;). There comes a time where a person has to get certain things done. It so happens to be mine now. It's not an appointment that you'll wanna do but a necessity for early detection of stuff. Yes, stuff. This appointment was made way back when in December via a phone call. Paperwork followed a week before the upcoming appointment. The instructions on said paperwork wasn't as reader friendly as my preferred method but now I do know. Wonder if someone could develop an automatic text msg 24 hrs beforehand to the patient like a hey dork, don't do this...but DO this...bc if ya don't do this right, you're gonna see us again...mb ending with xoxo?!? Might be a thing someday. Life is so fast these days, who knows mb it's out there & not in practice?!? I just hope my life lesson helps you in yours. Let's just say...please for the love of all good things, please please please read the love letter your physician-medical team sends you more than twice. Have a friend proof if you are concerned or confused. It will help a bunch on the day of in a ginormous way. Hopefully you won't make the same mistake I made. I'll leave it at that when you realize what type of specialist I'm referring to in this situation :). Dr. Toby Reidy, DO, FACS, FASCRS is a gem & delightful doctor. She stopped by prior to the procedure to introduce herself & explain what was about to occur. She didn't used medical jargon. As we asked questions she met them with sound responses. Love love love how her kindness integrated into an easiness that resonated prior to my procedure. Not once was I freaked out or wanting to instantly bolt my way back home. Was it the anesthesia? Perhaps. Even when I explained that her homework as completed was done in a cliff note version (totally my goof) may not be optimal. I did call her office before my appointment & apologized to her profusely IRL. She kindly explained she'd do the best she could given that most of what was needed from my end was completed. Whew! That was a big load off. Hadn't thought a driver was warranted initially. I'm glad I had one as a precaution. Seems that anesthesia leaves patients groggy. Even though afterwards I felt as if I was ready to tackle the world again, I did find myself repeating questions to my own answers for why IDK, arrived home & fell asleep. That's definitely was from the anesthesia. Doctors actually do know what's up, eh?!? This one certainly did! Grateful for the care & compassion from this facility. Even received a HRU phone call the next day from a real person. Would've taken more pictures. Unfortunately, when you're sitting in a waiting room all ready to begin this showdown, Kodak moments don't really seem appropriate. All I got was the lobby. Hope this helps those that need this done & has unnecessarily put off the inevitable. TBH, get it done STAT. One less thing to freak yourself out with in your daily routine. You'll possess the ability to move onward with its own reward. I'm very impressed with the Franciscan network of professionals. Stay well & be safe, Amy

    Madison Avenue Family Practice

If you are looking for a good family primary care provider, my experience with Madison Family…read moreMedicine has been nothing less than a solid five star rating. They recently moved from Madison Avenue to E. Countyline Rd, in Greenwood located conveniently across the street from the new Costco. They are part of the Franciscan Physician Group. Note their new name is now Madison Family Medicine (previous name was Madison Avenue Family Practice). I paid a recent wellness visit to my primary care physician, Dr. Shelley Stiner, DO, who practices at this facility. Upon arriving at their beautiful new location, I found the facility to have a large waiting area with plenty of seating, magazines and flat screen TVs to enjoy while waiting for my appointment. The staff has always been very friendly from the front desk to the nursing assistants. Dr. Stiner always listens carefully to my concerns and offers healthy alternatives to prescriptions where possible. She is very pleasant and professional. I have always had short wait times on all of my visits and scheduling for appointments or a referral has been very easy when working with their office staff. Lastly, I love their "My Chart", web portal....you can schedule appointments see your past visits, Billings, request a prescription refill and various other things related to your healthcare experiences. They have an excellent response time to their emails that have been submitted to this portal. After each visit I receive an emailed survey of my most recent visit to complete if I choose to do so. I have always seen Dr. Stiner, but I believe they have at least one nurse practitioner and possibly more and other doctors available. For this large of facility I'm sure they have to have other physicians, but I don't have that information. Actually as I was walking out the door I saw sign for a new physician. (See photo attached) If you are ever in need of a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, I highly recommend giving Dr. Stiner a try if she is accepting new patients. I have been with her for approximately 1 1/2 years due to my doctor retiring and wanting to try a DO for my healthcare needs. Due to her high demand, I had to wait initially about six months until she was able to accept a new patient. (I had to keep calling every so often to see if they were accepting new patients). I hit it lucky I guess and on one call was told she was taking on new patients. At this point in time, I'm very happy with their services and the new location of this practice. Review #28 08/11/16

After having been a patient of Franciscan Health's Wound Care Institute on two separate occasions…read morenow, including for over a year currently, I've decided to update my review with a slight downgrade. Dr. Joyner is director of Franciscan Health's Wound Care Institute, a clinic located in the outpatient services building that specializes in treating chronic, traumatic, and non-healing wounds. I saw Dr. Joyner for a visit or two after my late 2019 upper leg amputation and was generally quite pleased as it felt like she was realistic in treatment and not obsessive like some wound care doctors who tend to want to see you 2-3 times weekly. For my most recent care, I was referred to Dr. Joyner in October 2021 by my primary care physician due to having acquired a fairly significant wound on my right leg stump. I was having a hard time seeing and reaching it and it was obviously infected and starting to swell. To be honest, I was starting to fear additional amputation. Dr. Joyner was initially concerned about infection and lined up an infectious disease physician to consult. He put me on aggressive antibiotics and we got that under control for the most part. My leg has significantly improved, however, thus far we've been unable to get the wound to completely close. We're using consistent compression and have considered a couple different compression pumps. I have a small circle of friends who help me bandage and wrap the wound every couple of days. My appointments have ranged from every couple weeks to monthly. Dr. Joyner is a Franciscan Health physician employed by the network. While I consider Dr. Joyner to be knowledgeable, personable, and pretty matter-of-fact about treatment options, I'll admit that I've become somewhat bothered by some aspects of care like nurses who wrap/bandage the wound poorly (multiple times wraps/bandages have fallen off before I even get home). At times, it seems like the care regimen is forgotten from appointment to appointment. There's also referrals to equipment without regard to ability to actually get it (for example, a recent compression pump referral had a $1,700 co-pay). At my most recent appointment, I was essentially told that we'd done everything other than possible surgical revision, though with the wound being not infected and stable that didn't seem like a reasonable option. I've also had some issues with billing, though I don't necessarily hold Dr. Joyner responsible for that. However, as the director of the clinic it still is worth mentioning. It's hard to give an enthusiastic recommendation when the primary reason for my seeing her is left unresolved over a year later. There are definitely good things here, however, I feel like there's missing support - perhaps physical therapists to assist with compression and wrapping and a better handle on available supplies. In the end, I have to say this has become one of my more frustrating experiences with Franciscan and one of the very few experiences I'd be unlikely to recommend. However, I do know that Dr. Joyner handles significant wound care in the clinic and so this may simply be that rare occasion when treatment doesn't work. Regardless, I still feel like a 3-star rating is more accurate after my most recent experiences.
