Business client BEWARE! I started off by writing a detailed synopsis on our experience with Edwin as a business entity but have decided to let the attached screenshots speak for themselves. Please keep in mind that these screenshots are just a handful of many more instances in which Edwin childishly makes empty promises with unfulfilled deadlines. Worst than him not honouring his word as a grown man and 'professional', is having to follow-up with him as the client each and every time he blatantly promises and fails to meet his deadlines for days, weeks, months at a time until WE, the client reach out again. He does not value anyone's time nor your business. Only once did he take accountability despite us being very patient with him as you can see in the screenshots. On top of all that, we hired him to do our bookkeeping and boy oh boy, please read the screenshots. We take accountability for giving this guy the benefit of the doubt one too many times and not leaving sooner. Somehow though, he believes he has tried to meet our every request and has therefore dismissed us as clients. It is quite comical but we have learnt our lesson. PAY WHAT YOUR BUSINESS IS WORTH FOR SOMEONE COMPETENT AND RELIABLE. If you are looking for an individual who is going to chat your ear off with his personal affairs, this is your guy. However, if you are a professional looking for a professional to get things done and do your bookkeeping, STEER AWAY. My IRS account is currently on a levy because of his negligence and attention to detail when computing numbers or, in my case, failing to submit my return altogether! He has failed to provide us with copies of documents that are due to us and that we have paid for. Currently still waiting for our 2022 PnL which he has promised to deliver on at least 4 different occasions, yesterday being one of his promises, and again today. But look at the time.....This guy is a complete joke and will cost you THOUSANDS in the end. BEWARE. I am filing official complaints against him with all necessary agencies. I hope this review helps you in making your decision and choosing someone capable of managing your business account as a professional and not a child that does not value his word. It had been a few years since I had someone else do my taxes (I had been doing them online myself), so I did some extensive (Yelp) research before I decided on where to go. I decided on Edwin Does Taxes and I'm so glad that I did. Edwin was super welcoming upon arrival and was super communicative. His office space is also very welcoming so that's definitely a plus. The tax process wasn't painful at all. In the past, I've dealt with awkward silence, but it was nice to be able to converse while my taxes were getting done. It made me feel that much more at ease during the process. Edwin was there to answer any questions, made sure I understood my refund and was overall great at communicating. I HATE leaving negative reviews! You can see from my previous reviews for other businesses that I tend to praise companies that have won my business, and I consider myself pretty fair. I called last week to set up an appointment with Edwin for Sunday morning. He said he is usually closed on the weekends but does personal appointments if booked ahead of time. I asked what time we could come in, and he said 8:00am would be fine. He even repeated the date that we scheduled so there would be no confusion for another weekend. This was going to be his chance to win 4 new clients as we all needed our taxes done due to a delay with Covid testing and taxes being postponed for the 2020 year. We all showed up by 8:00am to have our taxes worked on, only to show up to a closed door. I called at least 4 times and left voice messages. No response. The amount of time and energy it took to get our families up and ready to meet Edwin, was not an easy task, especially when you have a toddler! It's now Tuesday afternoon, (3 days) AFTER our original appointment. I felt I would give Edwin the benefit of the doubt and a chance to maybe still win our business. Maybe he would reach out to redeem himself or at least apologize for not showing up. NOTHING! No follow up call to the messages left. Mind you...when I called him last week, he would pick up the phone no problem. Now, when I call it goes straight to voicemail. I've read a few of the other 1 star reviews and the one thing they have in common is, when Edwin screws up, he won't return your call. Not exactly the kind of person I want doing my taxes. read more

3-3-2021 I had a 12noon appointment. I was greeted by Edwin. He was very courteous and welcoming. He offered me a seat and a drink. He gathered my documents. The place was very comfortable and relaxing. The music has a calming effect while waiting. Nice snake plants which are great plant to cleanse and purify air. Matilde assisted me further thereafter. She was awesome. She was friendly, very nice and pleasant. There's TV, couch, magazines and so on. The place was COVID compliant. There were hand sanitizers and I observed employees disinfecting tables and chairs. The price was reasonable. This place is highly recommended. My husband and I booked an appointment with Edwin via yelp add. There was a $20 discount which was very neat. Our appointment happened to be on a Sunday so there was no issues with parking. I am not sure how the parking situation is on week days due to other businesses in the same building. Please note it is not a handicap or child stroller access friendly building. Luckily, my husband was with me so he was able to assist in carrying the stroller up the stairs. There is stairway access in the back where the parking lot is and in the front of the building. However, when we were exiting, we noticed the back stairway had a sign that said "keep doors closed at all time," even though it was open. okay, down the the pertinent information The wait: We had to wait 30-40 mins past our original appointment time. Thankfully, there was a 3 seater couch on the outside of his office and a couple of chairs for waiting. Edwin was also very professional and courteous to announce at my appointment time there will be a wait since he is still with the previous client (I did not dock any stars because he took the time to inform us there instead of letting the wait time roll). * Beware the walls and doors are thin so you can hear the conversation between clients if you are closely paying attention. Bathroom (public): These are located way down the narrow hallway, towards the fire exit. The bathroom is a private and small one. It kind of smelled like old urine when I used it but it was kept clean. Office: Office area is small with a small "lounge" area and three other accountant desks. The office area is kept nice and clean. The sit down: Edwin was not only friendly and down to earth, he was also very professional with the tax preparation. I had informed him I was not expecting to get anything back but as long as my husband and I did not have to pay anything back, that would be a win. This was the first year filing with our baby and she allowed us to get some money back with a donated car from my husband last year. My appointment also ran into the next client's slot but he also courtesy informed them of a wait. He did not seem rushed and wanted to kick us out due to another client outside. He gave his full attention and the pricing was very reasonable. Overall, it was a nice experience. I cannot say for sure I will be back next year ( I love trying to new places out) but I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to have a good tax preparation experience.
