Took in my F-250 that another shop couldn't quite diagnose. They recommended edwards as they know more about drivetrain. Dropped it off and had a diagnosis in half a shift. They were very knowledgeable and patient with me as im still learning as I go. They got my truck back on the road and gave me some education on my drivetrain. Bad business practices! Performed work without discussion with customer first! When they discovered that the repair had a problem they chose to change the computer programming to try and hide it. Refused to let me test drive before paying just under $4,000! Now my truck transmission is worse and I have engine codes so it's basically totaled thanks to them. This is the type of auto repair shop that sets the bar on the floor then trips over it. NOT A FAMILY BUSINESS, they are FRANCHISED and this owner doesn't even rebuild the transmissions he pays ANOTHER COMPANY to do it! Same owner as SHADELAND AVE. location so BEWARE!! This shop specializes in Transmissions. I took my car for repairs in March and my vehicle was being serviced for 3 weeks. I had to make frequent calls or pop ups to get information regarding the repairs and the timeframe as I rented a car. I spent over $6000 at that time between both. My vehicle drove ok however I was still not satisfied with the repairs as i still heard noice and pull with the vehicle. I return the vehicle to the shop in May to be looked as the shop manager suggested. My vehicle was left another 3 days, I rented another car during that time for them to tell me nothing was wrong with the repair they completed. I picked up my vehicle and continued to drive, just a month later I had to return the vehicle as the transmission was slipping and would not shift out of 2nd gear. How can this be? My vehicle has been back at Edward's Transmissions again now for 2 weeks and they have no idea what is happening with the vehicle. Meanwhile I am back in a rental. This is unacceptable! No sense of urgency and the desk representative is snapping at me for inquiring daily about my vehicle. When will I get my vehicle repaired correctly? Overall: my car was fixed over the course of 4 days (6 hours of labor job), but many new issues were created. Owner is terse but has solid values. Front desk/manager (Johnny George) with his firearm displayed on his hip will tell you that they do *not* stand behind their labor and gives quotes based on his whims without any labor hour/material quotes. Their free courtesy ride on their website is a lie and manager himself said that they do not offer it. Shop opens whenever the manager decides to show up so do not expect a 7:30 opening like claimed. I am torn because the owner's integrity does not match with the attitudes and ethics of the rest of the staff. I dropped my Audi off for driveshaft/differential repair, and after the parts arrived on Tuesday, they reported the car would be ready on Saturday. On pickup, I noted a large exhaust leak and the owner (on site that day) noted 1 of the 3 exhaust bolts was not attached. He himself got under the car and helped fix the problem. He has an excellent sense of integrity and work ethic hidden behind a gruff exterior. To my dismay, a check engine light that was not there when I dropped the car off came up (Code P246E) immediately on start up. He had the light erased but it came up on next start up again and code was confirmed by Makeshift Garage (excellent shop across town, would recommend over this). When I brought up this issue to the portly desk jockey, he rudely proclaimed that he would not do anything further as the driveshaft/differential were customer provided parts and there's *no warranty on labor*. Buyer beware: They do not warranty their labor and any parts broken by them during your repair are your responsibility. Furthermore, a few weeks later, I noticed a leak from my car and a shop in Chicago confirmed that the drain port for the differential was 1/4 turn loose. Edwards transmissions was supposed to do a drain/fill of the differential and their lack of attention to detail and increasing hubris not only resulted in a half drained differential, but a stubborn refusal to accept their role in this matter. Audi of Iowa City then confirmed a month later that during the removal of the exhaust by ET transmissions, they destroyed both exhaust clamps on either side, most likely due to their lack of experience or attention to detail. Again, the dense manager blamed the customer provided parts for the parts broken by the mechanics at ET transmission. Would recommend the owner find a better customer representative and better shop foreman to watch over the mechanic's work before the reputation is tarnished over time. read more

Based on my experience I cannot recommend Edward's Transmissions in Indianapolis at all. I have endured WEEKS of false promises without results. They are ridiculously overpriced and was unable to get the work done as promised...or at all. The details are below. On 12/20/2022 the 4th gear on my 2006 Chevy W5500 with an Aisin 4 speed RNJ transmission had started slipping so badly in 4th gear that it needed repair. I was on my way from Pennsylvania to Idaho. I approached Edwards Transmission and spoke with Kevin Clark. Kevin Clark owns the 2 Edward's Transmission franchises at 3050 Shadeland Avenue and 2 Gasoline Alley. Johnny George is the branch manager at the 2 Gasoline Alley location. Johnny called and requested that I approve $595.00 for removing the transmission and diagnosing the problem. I approved the expense. Three weeks later, after many calls, prodding, and false promises, on Thursday 1/5/23 they informed me that the transmission needed to be rebuilt and the valve body needed to be replaced. The problem was that it was a 4 to 6 week wait for the new valve body. The quote for the rebuild was $8,500.00 I did some research and spoke to several other transmission shops who indicated that the valve body usually does not need to be replaced if the tranny is shifting fine, which it is. Isuzu Motors (who supplied the original tranny) informed me that they do not service the valve body but simply replace the tranny with a new one. I purchased a new tranny from them for $8879.00 and arranged for it to be shipped to Edwards Transmission's Gasoline Alley location. It arrived on Monday January 9, 2023. On Monday Johnny acknowledged that the new tranny had arrived but indicated that they can only begin working on it "by the end of the week". So I was being shoved to the end of the line again. I complained to Kevin and he said he would try to expedite the installation. Johnny then informed me that they would start the installation on Tuesday morning (1/10/23) I asked Johnny when I should book my flight to come retrieve the truck but he refused to give a date. I called him on Wednesday 1/11/23 and he indicated that they should be done on Thursday 1/12/23 afternoon and that the truck would need to get the tranny reprogrammed at a Isuzu dealership. I found the dealership in Indianapolis that would do the reprogramming and I gave Johnny the information. Johnny instructed me to book the appointment at the dealership for Thursday afternoon. I then booked a flight to arrive Thursday afternoon. On Thursday afternoon Johnny called me to say his service manager had called in sick with a dental emergency (it later transpired that the service manager was only out for 3 hours on Thursday) and that the truck should be done by Friday afternoon or Saturday. So despite Kevin's promise to expedite the installation, Johnny still managed to do exactly what he said on Monday and push the installation back to the end of the week. On Friday morning (1/13/23) I arrived at the 2 Gasoline Alley location of Edward's Transmission to find that the transmission was not installed and it was sitting on the floor. Johnny had also called in sick according to the service manager, but showed up later. I informed Kevin that I was going to get the truck towed to the dealership for the dealership to do the work and that I'll take the 2 transmissions with me. Kevin demanded a cashier's check for $1,000.00 for taking the transmission out and diagnosing the problem. Interesting to note that the Edward's Transmissions website says that credit cards are accepted (next to the Better Business Bureau logo). Kevin also said it would be a "smart choice" if I can let them install it on Friday for a total of $2,500.00 and that he could guarantee that it will be done by the end of the day on Friday. Since my experience indicated that any guarantees made by either Johnny or Kevin was not worth anything I opted to have the dealership do the work. I paid the $1,000.00 because I needed to get the truck worked on and didn't want to waste time by getting into a fight with Kevin because of his price gouging. I paid $379 more for a new transmission than to have Edward's Transmission rebuild the old one. So it's definitely not worth having them do a rebuild. For Johnny I approved $595.00 to remove and diagnose the transmission. Kevin demanded $1,000.00 to remove and diagnose the transmission. The difference is $405.00. I think Edward's Transmission owes me $405.00. Because of Edward's Transmission bungling, I have also had to pay for hotel stay for Friday through Monday (at an average of $90 per night - I can provide receipts) that amounts to $360.00) while waiting for the Hare Truck Center in Noblesville to install and program the transmission. They received it on Friday midday and had the truck running by Monday midday. You decide. read more

This is a terrible place to get your car repaired. They over charge and your auto issues still exists. I was charged double what any other repair service charges and it wasn't what they said was the issue. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Edwards Transmission in Indianapolis is not a good company. DO NOT GO THERE FOR REPAIRS. I had my car towed there for what turned out to be a broken axle. They did not give me free towing because it was not transmission related (although their website does not mention this or was it brought to my attention when I called them). When they fixed the broken axle they completely messed up the brakes on the right front. When I picked up the car and started to drive off, it made a terrible noise and brakes didn't work at all, they insisted it wasn't their fault and that the brakes must have been like this before. I don't know how any reputable mechanic would allow someone to leave their business with a car that was this dangerous to drive. read more
