If you are looking for a realtor who will put your needs first and foremost, please do yourself a favor and contact him because he will take care of you like no other realtor will. Shane and I spent approximately four and one-half hours in the afternoon discussing many different things, including many of the features of the property, the interior design and construction, the recent renovations, the accessibility of the many businesses in close proximity to the location, the accessibility of public transportation, and various other aspects of the rental terms and contract. Shane answered every question I had with the upmost professionalism and had ample knowledge of the location. He pointed out several things that were notable. One thing that particularly surprised me was how quiet the train was when it went by behind the building while I was there. I hadn't expected this and I was very pleased with the low sound level of the passing train. He also described many of the recently updated features of the property in detail, namely, the very powerful heating furnace, the recently installed air venting to each of the rooms, the quality tinted windows on the second floor, the dual 240vac and numerous 110vac electrical outlets, and the bathrooms on both of the floors, one of which even has a Bluetooth speaker installed inside it. I found the design and features of the entire location to be very well thought out. He also pointed out how well constructed the entire property was, which is most definitely impressive and which is something I personally would also choose to do myself if I ever designed and built my own home. The entire experience was, without a doubt, the best one I have had thusfar, and I couldn't think of a more fitting property for my needs. I want to thank Shane for inviting me to tour the property and for his thorough knowledge of the rental property and very personable, professional approach that he has for his work. I also want to thank the owners of the property for considering my application. I am looking forward to renting the property if it is offered and I will treat it with the utmost care. Sincerely and respectfully, Kevin

I bought an older home in the East Bay in 2013. The previous two owners made some improvements to…read morethe house and I thought the house was a great buy. After occupied the house, my wife did not like the KITCHEN because it was too much like a box. We decided to give it a new look but we did not know any local general contractors that we could trust. I hired a contractor who I met at work. This contractor promised me the best and fast service but we have to help him with the work. We started the project by demolished our old kitchen cabinets and tile counter top on the same day. I had my brother helped me with "Do It Yourself" projects to speed up the remodeling. Four weeks later and after spending quite some time on fixing the electrical issues the previous owners created, our new kitchen still frameless. Phat T., the owner of American Universal Construction, was my brother's childhood friend. My brother asked Phat to stop by the house one day to quote a refinished the hardwood floor after my new kitchen was remodeled. Phat saw the mess we created and said, "With this rate you guy will be moving in next year." Phat was right because two weeks later the kitchen and the electrical problems are still not corrected. Phat offered the help beside from working on other projects. Phat recorrected the electrical issues, retiled my kitchen floor, installed my new cabinets/granite top. My new kitchen looking great after three weeks and I don't have to worry about the electrical problems ever again. Thanks to Phat I could finally move into the house and enjoy my new kitchen. When time to remodel my two "Fugly" bathrooms, I will have to call Phat to do the job for me.

Our most recent repair request for our custom Roman shades purchased from this business was in…read moreearly November, 2021, again for draw cord issues. I had called explaining that her repair guy, Spencer, had proactively left us a spare cord replacement in August, 2013. After responding that she'd have to charge for Spencer to return, she asked I text her photos of the cord mechanism using language she and staff are likely familiar with. I soon sent her what photos I could which she then acknowledged that ours was not the cord type she had strongly described, which then required me to send more photos -- frustrating! A month went by and no follow-up response from her, so I inquired for an update via text. She replied claiming she had a new phone and didn't know who I was! I reminded her with photos again...cord issue. She replied she might have an answer the following day. On December 14, '21 she oddly sent a map text, which I replied with a question mark "?" And 12/14/21 was last I heard from her, similar to the 7/1/16 and 3/11/13 Yelp reviews. As a long time, local customer I had optimistically hoped for professional/quality service this time. Fortunately, after additional researching, I now found a more reliable local repair shop which we will take our business to in the future for repairs or eventual shade replacement.

I don't expect them to be cheaper than Costco. What I do expect is good service, professional management, and high quality. Our initial store visit was great. Got samples, came home, decided what we wanted. Robyn came out and measured. She was nice. We got quotes a few days later. I was expecting her to call back and nothing. The quotes were expensive but not outlandish (I'd guess a 200-300% markup on fabric). After a few weeks I tried calling and left a message. Called again and was told the owner was busy and would call be right back. No return. I couldn't believe they weren't calling so I passed the project to my wife. Eventually she got a hold of someone (maybe 6 weeks after the initial quote). We give her all the quote numbers and she said they couldn't find them. Hard to believe. She wanted to come by to measure again. It was an odd visit. There was a lot of talk about how bad the previous employee was and how she had to be fired. I was expecting apologies for dropping the ball on us but instead was getting water-cooler confessionals. She re-measured (I'm pretty sure the frist person measured correctly) and made some other suggestions (which were actually beneficial). Then silence again. We tried calling a few times and leaving messages. Eventually we got updated quotes (maybe a month later?). The new quotes were more expensive than the original quotes. Perhaps we were being punished for trying to stick with a company through all of this. I would think that a business owner would honor the previous quotes, not up the price. I wanted to bail, but my wife wanted window coverings so we placed an initial order. When the materials arrived they came to install. I will say they did a very good job of testing the fabric and making sure it looked good. The installer was friendly. The mounting for our coverings was a little cheap - maybe this is the best out there, but I doubt it. After 24 hours all of our window coverings popped off the windows and didn't stay. My wife called and they didn't have much to say. In the end, we paid top dollar for white-glove service and got terrible service, long delays, and ultimately a product which is sitting in the closet because I have to figure out how to properly mount it in our windows. Personally, I think the owner has good taste and understands a tremendous amount about fabrics and design, but they are in dire need of assistance in how to manage a business, a reputation, and do customer service. I hope they improve because I'd hate to loose another small business in Menlo Park. BTW - the paper Home Depot window coverings are starting to grow on me :-)
