I have to say that out of all the places I've been seen for my eye exams, this place takes the cake in all aspects. 1. Seamless appointments: from making the appointment, the checking in process, the exam itself, and checking out. Completely seamless. I've never had any issues with the admin/billing or clinical staff. 2. Extremely friendly and thorough Doctor: I see the female doctor (feel terrible for not remembering her name) here and she has to be one of the kindest people I've ever encountered. I had to bring my two young daughters to a recent appointment and she was extremely kind and accommodating. Even without my children at previous appointments she was very thorough and kind. I never once felt rushed or overlooked. 3. Reliability: I have had to contact their office on a couple occasions to have my prescriptions sent over for contact lenses and they were very prompt and fast with the request. I've had terrible experiences places where they say they will do it and then just don't. This place checks off all the boxes for me. I am happy to have went out on a whim and scheduled with them years ago because I truly adore this place and will not go anywhere else now!

I have always found the care provided here to be top notch...professional, caring, competent, and friendly. Dr. Reber caught my need for, and encouraged me to have, cataract surgery. This turned out to be one of the two very best health-related actions I have ever taken (the other was my back surgery, performed by the great folks at Anchorage Neurosurgical Associates). Ten years later, as I started noticing some visual blurring, Dr. Reber caught the forming of so-called secondary cataracts (clouding of the back of the sacs which hold the new lenses installed as part of my initial surgery, something that often happens around ten years after the initial surgery). Once again, I wrnt to the great people at Pacific Cataract and Laser Instutute, my treatment took all of two minutes, and I walked out of there with perfect vision restored. I am a Medicaid recipient. This is noteworthy for two reasons. One, from the time when I was well-employed and insured to now when my fortunes are far less substantial, there has been absolutely no change in the way they have treated me at Alaska Eye Care. Second, though Medicaid does cover glasses, there are a limited nu.ber of frames (as it should be). Unfortunately, the metal that eligible frames are made of reacts negatively with my body chemistry. The first pair I got under Medicaid left a discoloration on my face and some irritation. When I told them this at my second pair of Medicaid glasses over a year later, they took my glasses back and shrink-wrapped the ear peices! This simple service made all the difference. I was comfortable wearing my glasses and had no discoloration. Alaska Eye Care will always be my Eye Care Providers. Thank you. Alaska Eye Care Center! And, especially, thank you, Dr. Reber!

Wendy Stevens 3 reviews…read more 5 hours ago NEW While on vacation in Aruba I started having vision problems. Prior to this episode I had never experienced eye problems beyond needing a yearly eye exam. Almost overnight I started seeing double when looking to the left, looking down and looking up. I also was finding it hard to read/watch TV or seeing where I was walking when looking down. Saw 3 doctors in Aruba which overall was not very helpful. I called Dr Coon's office. He called me back at the end of his day and talked to me at great length. About 4 days later he called me back unexpectedly-I hadn't asked him to call me. He did the best exam he could do over the phone, very thorough asking me lots of questions and to look in different directions with and without my glasses on, with one eye opened or both. He called because he actually cared. In a subtle way he recommended I come home and be seen. I arrived on a day the office was closed and there had been a HUGE snowstorm. He came in to the office after he pushed snow all day to see me and did the most thorough eye exam ever. He brought his daughter so she could write down his findings as he went through the exam. His daughter is also an eye Dr at the clinic. She was so nice too! To come in on her day off and help with my exam. He has referred me to a Dr that can specialize in the problem I have and is instrumental in getting me in to this Dr that is very hard to get an appointment with. I have had an MRI and a CT scan and it has been discovered that I have a tumor in the deep lobe of my paratoid gland. This may or may not be connected to my vision but Dr Coon is still requesting my medical records and is trying to help me with this problem. Dr Coon is a rare find. I am so impressed with his genuine concern and how thorough he has been trying to figure out what is wrong. It is complex situation but it has been so comforting for someone as skilled as him to be there for me when I have been so scared about losing part of my eyesight. A+ if you have the privilege of having him as your Dr you are very fortunate.

Several years ago after dealing with numerous female reproductive health issues, I ended up making an appointment with Dr. Chester's office after being referred to her by a friend. Especially after my former OBGYN had laughed at me and basically told me I was up making up all my symptoms. I had been suffering from mysterious symptoms for years that no one could explain and in my gut I knew it was tied into my other female problems. From the moment I made the appointment and went in to see her, I felt completely at ease in her presence. I'm sure it can be a little off putting having a patient break down emotionally in your office at their first appointment. But after years of having no one listen to me, I had reached my end point. Donna listened and was intent on helping me work through those issues. That was over three years ago and Dr. Chester has worked with me every step of the way on helping me feel better. She was my physician through my surgery and even called me in the off hours on her own time during pre-op when I was experiencing problems with my pre-op medications. She calmly walked me through my questions and concerns. She was the last one I saw before I went under and offered assurances to my family when I experienced a difficult time during surgery. Her aftercare has been truly professional and reassuring. I have seen the one star review left for Dr. Chester and I have my doubts about its validity. Based on my own experiences with her when it comes to her thoughts on taking the ovaries during a hysterectomy. My experience totally contradicts what is stated in that review. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but again my own experience with her as a long term patient speaks otherwise on what is stated as her beliefs about that practice in that review. After my surgery I ran into numerous issues and continued to live a life with severe pain. Enough to where I was only having two good weeks a month with my health. I was ready to give up and kept saying it would probably be this way the rest of my life. Not the case. Donna Chester and her staff worked with me every step of the way to give me options. And I have no doubt if it were not for Dr. Chester, I wouldn't have my life back like I do today.

So for me, finding a good dentist means finding one that doesn't make you feel like you have a "dental" appointment. That's been my experience with Pioneer Peak. I use to worry about having anything done to my teeth because I never knew if the procedure would be painful or not... always seemed to be hit and miss in the past if the dentist would leave me with a mouth full of pain afterwards. After having everything dental from cleaning to a rather large tooth extraction by Dr Paden over the years, I can honestly say I've never come away in pain or dissatisfied with the results. Finally; my teeth are very sensitive and in the past I've had poor luck finding a dentist that knows how to properly numb the area fully, until I started coming here. Dr Paden numbs the area in such a way I've honestly never felt a needle. I'm always numb enough that I feel absolutely comfortable with having my teeth worked on. If I happen to feel any discomfort I just let them know and they are willing to apply more if needed. They take health insurance and file all the paperwork for me which I really like as it makes it easy to deal with the paperwork. If you call and ask, I'm sure they have other accommodations for people without insurance - the staff is always good about answering questions!
