I'm torn about Valley Eye Associates. I had made an appointment right about the time the hunker…read moredown order was starting to lift, as I had been extending my one a day contacts well past the "one day" mark due to all the craziness going on. They were the only place that could get me in as soon as possible, and that was 3 weeks out. I was a new self pay patient since I have become a stay at home mom and no longer have insurance through my previous employer. I have had contacts/glasses since grade school and am very familiar with costs of contacts and office visits but even so I called around and asked about self pay costs and although this place quoted me the highest, they were the only ones that could get me in the "quickest." I thought there would be no way that my visit would be more than $300 just based off of my prior experiences at other eye care facilities. Boy was I wrong. The cost of the visit, although it was very thorough, was $450! Outrageous. This did not include anything other than the exam itself. I had to pay an additional $100 to fill my contact prescription and I thought I would check out some lenses as I'm due for a new pair of glasses they quoted me $450! I'll stick to getting my exam at another facility next time as I learned my lesson the hard way. If you have insurance, great! If you don't, you might want to take your business elsewhere because the average price at most offices for an exam is $250. Lesson learned.

He called back and spoke to me over the phone for quite a while. He then called me back in his own about 4 days letter to check up on me. He did the best over the phone "eye exam" he could asking me many questions and having me look different directions with my glasses off and on. Asking me what I saw. He subtly recommended I come home and take care of the situation-which was very good advise. As soon as I arrived home, even though his office was closed and there was a crazy snowstorm, he met me at his office. He brought his daughter, another eye Dr at the clinic and he proceeded to give me the most thorough eye exam I think I have ever had. His daughter, I believe she is Dr Alexandra Coon, was very nice to come in and be there on her day off too! Dr Coon has been instrumental in referring me to an eye Dr that specializes in these kind of problems and is requesting my medical records (MRI/CT Scan) so he can keep updated with what's happening. He is genuine and drs like him are rare. He actually cares about his patients!! I feel so fortunate to have been referred to him and I highly recommend him!

I have been wearing glasses for 40 years, so I know how to go into a store and pick them out on my own. It felt very much like the young lady was commission based, so she was pushing glasses on to me. It was just too much. I explained, I'm having Lasik done in 2 months, so I just need something to hold me over for a few weeks.. not a $5-$700 pair of glasses combination she was pulling out.. I became so frustrated, I just left and purchased glasses online for a fraction of the cost (also when I mentioned that as an option, she made it clear that was basically tacky and it hurt my feelings a little and she can't promote it.. well no kidding when I got them for $123 with the lenses where as what she was trying to sell me was $300-$400 glasses + $150 lens and then a $320 appointment) for a 2-month pair. With that being said, the doctor was truly AMMMMAZING but I don't need to feel like I'm buying a car when I'm browsing the eye glass selection.
