She is incredibly meticulous and detailed with her haircuts, wonderfully gentle and careful with washing, and amazing with hair color. You can tell she takes so much pride in her work and pays attention to every little detail. My hair is very difficult to cut because of years of processing, but she worked her magic. This is hands down the best haircut I've had in years! If you're looking for someone who is skilled, thoughtful, and truly cares about the quality of her work, I highly recommend Kiyoko.

To make sure there would be no misunderstandings, I called the salon again the day before my appointment to re-confirm. During that call, the front desk asked about my hair texture, and I explicitly confirmed that I have fine, naturally wavy hair; she assured me it was not an issue and confirmed my appointment with Yuka. When I arrived today and sat down in the chair, Yuka took one look at my hair and flatly refused to cut it, stating, "I can't cut your type of hair. I never cut hair like this before." She suggested I rebook with their curly cut specialist, who was not even working today. When I reminded her that I booked a week out and specifically called the day before to confirm my wavy texture with the front desk, Yuka snapped back, "Why did you come here?" At that point, I cut my losses and walked out. It is one thing for a stylist to lack the technical skills to cut anything outside straight East Asian textures, but handling a client with that level of hostility and disrespect is inexcusable. To take time out of your week, confirm twice with staff, sit in the chair, and then be aggressively asked why you even showed up is appalling customer service. If your hair has any natural wave, curl, or texture, save your time and dignity and book somewhere that understands diverse hair types and treats clients with basic respect.

I KNOW MY REVIEW IS TO FREEKING LONG / A MAKE NO APOLOGIES FOR THAT ! I discovered Eduardo (the co-owner) at Echos Hair Design in July, He gave me the best hair cut I'd ever had. I went from all one length, past the shoulder long hair to a 'Louise Brooks' bob look that ended at the jaw line. (It was right before a trip to Paris, and I felt like a star in the French city!) I'd never experienced such an eye for detail before while having my hair cut. Painstakingly, he measured, trimmed, evaluated and trimmed to even things up as needed. I walked out feeling like a million dollars! If you aren't happy with your hair, he isn't happy either and will take the time to make it right so that you will love it at the end (Heck, even if you don't realize there's something to be unhappy with, he will take the time to fix it!) His initial consultations are also a treat he is not rushed . He listens to what I'm saying and states it back to me to avoid any confusion and he's able to see my personal hair patterns and he can determine the best places to trim it. He looks at the whole picture, not just the hair and consistently gives a cut that looks terrific with my face shape. I have never seen anybody get out of any seat in that salon and not have a great look. If you're interested in edgy, quirky, and fun, this is your place! And if you just want a simple trim for your locks, he does that exquisitely as well!, In the past I have experience trims from HELL, so even when I get a trim I can close my eyes and relax and know that Eduardo is not going to cut inches of my head. He recommend coloring my hair, I mentioned I have no interest in color he has never brought it up again! And I love booking my appointments online . Price wise Eduardo is less expensive than my boy in New York but I will not mention that to him unless of course he reads my review , the value of the work done at Echos Hair Design has made a return customer out of me! If Eduardo were to move, I'd have to go to wherever he is to have my hair cut! read more

***** If you are in need of a makeover, or just a plain old trim, go and visit Eduardo at Echos Hair Design. I have pretty high standards, I am quite observant and picky with how people handle my hair and me as a person! I prefer people who are caring and considerate and love what they do. Well, Eduardo is EXACTLY that!! When you walk in, the friendly, professional staff will greet you and make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. The salon is very hip, clean and filled with good vibes! It was so refreshing to find a hair stylist that is so down to earth and expresses their creativity so freely and for the benefit of the client. It doesn't hurt he is just downright genius with hair!! He makes sure you walk out of there happy and looking amazing. I am not kidding, people. I felt like a supermodel walking down the street...I rarely write reviews, but he is a true master. He cut my extremely long, damaged hair, and made sure he didn't cut too much (as I was clinging to my long locks with a death grip!) and he colored it using the latest fashionable colors I was amazed at the results! He also gave me the most unique highlights I've ever had, that complement my hair color perfectly! Everyone I've seen after that has given me the most insane compliments. A new style should be noticed, not like you walk out of a salon and no one even sees a change! Well, people saw it and were kind of floored! :) read more

I've been going to Eduardo at Echos for almost 5 years, now (!), so this review is long overdue. I have long, wavy-curly hair that is fairly easy to cut and style, but it frizzes and flips out and I wasn't thrilled with my mousy-brown natural shade. After spending the day with Eduardo, I always emerge looking like nothing short of a supermodel, with shiny, silky tresses that inspire awe from friends and strangers!! At first, I was nervous about getting a razor cut, but don't be! Eduardo's hairstyles frame your face in those perfect wispy layers, grow out beautifully, and last for months. Also trepidatious about committing to the vicious circle of highlights and roots, I had nothing to fear! Eduardo's color looks SO natural that the highlights even grow out without visible roots and I only need to go back a few times a year!! The environment is hip and cool with plenty of natural light, and great music! The assistants are also charming and eager to please, and their product lines Rene Furterer, and Loreal Professionnel are actually worth purchasing, especially the serum, deep conditioner, and styling foams! Is it a bit on the expensive side? Yes (but for San Francisco, it's a wild bargain!). Is it worth every penny? Absolutely. All in all, a day of pampering that restores your faith in the fact that if your hair looks great, you look even better... read more

p.s. everyone loves my hair specially meeeee! Let me start by saying, I am VERY picky about who touches my hair and how much freedom I give any stylist. I have been getting my haircut by the same great stylist for over 5 years but the trek back to NY for a cut and color is getting a bit of a scheduling nightmare. I heard great things about Echos Hair Design, noticed they had an edge to their work and gave them a try. I made my appointment online, with Eduardo after he called me back to answer some of my concerns about my hair. I arrived on a sweaty day during the recent heatwave. Greeted right away, offered a beverage while I waited a few minutes. My apt was with Eduardo , and he was AWESOME. I had high hopes he would fix me up with some a edgy cut. He was great. He had ideas, he talked me through it, and I could not be happier with my cut and color. I have 100% found my San Francisco salon and stylist. I already have an apt to go back in 2 weeks for a bang trim. I highly reco this salon, and if you want an edgy cut, a bit more style...go with Eduardo! read more

I have been going to Echos Hair Design for many years now and never ceases to amaze me the incredible work they do. Specifically, Eduardo, is my go-to hairstylist, and he never disappoints. I love my hair!, and he is the only person I can trust with it. This time around, I decided to completely change my cut and hair colored, and there are no words but WOW. I don't know if I was making any sense trying to describe the cut & color I was going for, but somehow he miraculously deciphered what I wanted. The salon itself is chill--good music, nice ambiance, everyone who works there is friendly in a low-key way--not super attitude-y. In any case, I could go on and on, but I'll stop by simply saying I could not be more pleased...I'm SO happy and grateful that I've found my hair peeps, Thank You Eduardo, I can't stop loving my hair! read more

I made an appointment with Eduardo for cut and color. Honestly, I dont think in my entire life I've been so chic. He definitely dropped 10 years after 3 hours with Eduardo and his scissors. and moi? The atmosphere and environment were deeply imbued with a sense of positivity and celebration of all things good. Beautiful music, beautiful art, and Marco and Edith are beautiful people. I usually get my haircut by mother, but distance made that impossible for the moment. Edith took care of me like family and our conversation was so uplifting - she is brimming with joy and she helped augment my style as well as provided me with a much needed perspective on gratitude, family values, and the importance of being a good person. Truly a blessing. All together, my hair can't grow back fast enough so I can go back and bask in the city oasis that is One Twenty For Hair. Also Luna is an incredibly cute dog. Thank you!

She charged $140. and it took 30 minutes. She did none of the "work" she was talking about during the consultation, so it felt like a scam. I left with the same problem I came in for her to fix... Get this, I left the salon with WET hair cause the $140 does not include drying your hair. That was $70 more. Their website says haircuts are $70 but she quoted $140 to me and I don't have long hair.

Sarah Mya took her time with my hair, figuring out what would work best with my hair texture & head shape. There was absolutely no rush when I was in her chair, and I was grateful. Bijou is well-placed downtown on Sutter at Stockton, near-ish to the entrance to Chinatown. It's easily accessible from either Montgomery or Powell St. Bart stations as well as a no. of bus lines. In addition to being in a prime downtown locale, the salon itself is cozy and tastefully decorated. (I now regret not getting any snaps, but, to be honest, wasn't thinking of Yelp while there.) Take the elevator to the third floor & follow the signs. Easy-peasy. I felt well taken care of by Sarah Mya & would recommend her & her salon to any and all.
