She made sure to take time to discuss my hair before getting into the wash which I highly appreciated. She took her time ensuring that my layers were blended. I hadn't been to Cetana Salon before but I am so glad I know of them now! I walked in explaining the frustration with my previous cut done at different salon a day prior. They were attentive in understanding exactly what it was that I didn't like about my hair and how they could fix it. I feel so lucky that Adan had an appointment available for the same day, he is truly a creative expert at this craft. I have very fine, straight hair (Type 1A). If layers aren't cut a particular way, then every flaw can be seen. It's been a challenge finding a hair stylist that can make my hair look like how I'd like, and Adan totally nailed it. The salon itself had a great atmosphere, with lots of natural sunlight with large beautiful windows. I'm impressed by the products they carry. Terrible experience with Leticia. I recently moved to SF for a new job and hadn't had time to find a new salon. I decided to just get a quick trim at the closest one to my apartment. Got multiple rude comments from her about 5 min into my appointment. Will say the trim was fine though when it's so overpriced you can't be making your customers feel terrible and making inappropriate comments about their hair. Loveee Cetana and Ernesto! I passed this salon often and initially wasn't sure what to think of the Aveda vibe, but was repeatedly impressed every time I looked in and saw how ridiculously hip and cool everyone looked. I guess I thought Aveda = boring/natural and I really like chemicals if I'm being honest HA HA. Anyway I decided to give it a go given how convenient the location was and Ernesto immediately caught my eye. He is SO fabulous with any style of hair but really knows how to take care of the long hair ladies. He also has a great look himself, and even though I am pretty vanilla/boring he doesn't make me feel lame and always makes me look faaabbuloouus :) Outside of Covid time they also give wine...which is pretty much the only way to make this place even more awesome. Give me wine at the same time. They also have great parking if you drive which is rare for SF, and its in a quiet residential area close to the Embarcadero. During Covid, all the new salon procedures felt very, very safe and sanitary. They were good about temp checks, limiting people inside, having everyone wash hands and maintaining distance between other clients. I highly recommend Cetana! You can't go wrong :) read more

Roy is absolutely phenomenal. Someone you look forward to chatting with every time. I've been a loyal client for 5+ years and still drive to SF to see him, despite moving out of SF two years back. Beyond the 'technical' skills, he has provided sound guidance when I was weighing new haircuts or ideas - on many occasions he stopped me from trying something I wouldn't have been satisfied with. Roy also doesn't cut any corners, figuratively speaking. Having long hair, and a lot of it, he has always exhibited the utmost patience and has gone over the allotted time when needed to make sure I LOVE my hair. And I always love it. I had the absolute pleasure of having my hair done by Natasha. I have very thick curly hair, although it's thinned out some as I've gotten older. I'm used to being tossed from stylist to stylist all my life. It's also down to my butt because I've been growing it out for my Indian wedding (thanks covid). I have some health issues and developed psoriasis last year and noticed my scalp has become severely greasy. I actually straightened my hair myself a day prior to my appointment because I knew two hours would not be enough time to straighten and do the updo. Oh my gosh, if I didn't already say, I was in town for a wedding in Napa, and I'm from LA. Natasha was so sweet that she was understanding of my condition, and even gave me tips to help make it better. She even told me because it's full and lifeless, she offered to wash it and dry it for me before styling. I was floored, and honestly if I wasn't so pressed for time, I would have taken her up on her offer. I showed styled I was interested in for inspiration, and she quickly through my hair around with clips for a quick mock up. I mean, I have NEVER received service like this. She did such an amazing job that even as it before me saying something about a piece towards the end, it's like she read my mind, before I'd explain it, she immediately knew what I was trying to say. This is just a little bit about her talent, but now I'll go on about how sweet of a person she is. She lives such a cool life with chickens and a garden on her land and eats and lives in such a clean way. When I say it takes A LOT for me to be impressed with a stylist, she topped it. One thing I did ask was for the loose hanging curls to be clipped so that I can take them down later (it was pouring that Sunday) and we didn't, but she did spray and curl them tightly multiple times and it still looked fine, they just fell open before we even left the hotel for the wedding. It would be an honor to have my hair cut, colored (which I never have had) or styled by Natasha again. I promised next time I was in town that I would prepare adequate time for a cut. I spent 7 years in the Bay Area bouncing around to different hair stylists. When I found Roy at Cetana, I knew my search was over. I came to Roy when I was fed up with my hair and looking for a change. I was referred to Roy by a friend who briefly let him know about what I was looking for before my appointment. When I arrived for my appointment, Roy already had many ideas and had saved some images of different hairstyles on his phone. We went through the images together and agreed on the perfect cut. I was so impressed by this and was thrilled with the outcome! I have a big head of hair that isn't necessarily difficult to manage, but it is a lot to handle. I often find myself getting headaches around the time I am ready for my next haircut because my hair gets so heavy, and Roy did a great job lightening it up and fixing some of my layers that had been done incorrectly by previous stylists. The entire environment is very safe and processes are followed to ensure they are taking utmost care amid COVID. The entire talent team is amazing. My goto is Leticia, and Natasha. I cannot get enough of the Aveda products they use!!! I get the BEST scalp massages here and it is pure bliss after a long stressful work day. Monica gives the best scalp massages and will use Aveda oils before she shampoo & conditions my hair. I always choose the lavender oil. :) She is meticulous and a perfectionist, always making sure I'm 100% happy before I leave the salon. Staff is friendly and professional. They always offer you a beverage of your choice and have fresh cookies in the waiting area. Love it! read more

Today I was so excited to get a haircut with Daniel (last one was in December), but when I arrived, I was informed by the receptionist that he was out for surgery and that someone had left me voicemail to inform me yesterday. I was so surprised - nobody had left me any voicemail (or email or text) from Centana. If they did, why would I show up on time @ 11 am, fully expecting and very much looking forward to my haircut? And if I did receive a voicemail, wouldn't I have already rescheduled the appointment? Instead of offering a sincere apology and remedying the situation right away (i.e. comp me a haircut since I wasted my time and rearranged my schedule to get to the salon today), the manager brusquely informed me that someone on the staff did leave a voicemail, implying it was my fault I didn't listen to the message. From my interactions with him, it was obvious he didn't care about keeping me as a client. I told him I would find another salon where there was better customer service. It's truly a shame because I was hoping to develop a long relationship with Daniel... He seemed liked a really talented stylist, who understood my hair's needs. read more

My FIRST experience here was great! My hairstylist gave me a quick massage using eucalyptus oils, used a bunch of complimentary products in my hair, & I loved my hair cut! However, they did reschedule with me twice... My SECOND experience here wasn't the best... My hairstylist put a mask on my hair WITHOUT telling me that it was going to COST EXTRA! She sprayed something on my hair a couple times and put a hot towel on my hair for 5min -- apparently those 5mins were $25! I also never received a massage, she had other people washing/drying my hair because she was too busy, she didn't put any complimentary products in my hair, and the cut was mediocre. While she was cutting my hair she stepped on the apron, choked me, and her shoe fell off... She even scratched my face but I didn't say anything because I know she was doing her best & I was being nice... Towards the end of my haircut, I wanted a more "softer" look but since she had other clients waiting on her, she just did whatever she could & let me go (fastest I saw someone cut hair). When I wanted her to cut my hair more, she just tried to sell me on why I shouldn't cut my hair to how I wanted it... I was going to say something but someone kept telling her to wrap it up so I just left annoyed... and I was even more pissed when I went to pay & there was an extra cost for a mask I didn't even know about!!! She even said she forgot to use other products in my hair when we were finished... well that's great to know Overall, I guess I got what I paid for since I went with a less experienced stylist. I would give this place a second chance because I had a pleasant experience before... but if you're that busy, let me know & reschedule because I was not in a rush to get my haircut. I'd rather wait and have a good experience instead of getting a half-assed experience. P.S. - LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE GONNA CHARGE ME EXTRA FOR SERVICES.
