Thankfully, Blowology Dry Bar and Spa came through! I needed a slicked-back bun for an event, and my stylist, Ali, was awesome. He told me it was his first time doing that kind of updo, but honestly, you wouldn't have known. He took his time, made sure it wasn't too tight (huge win for my scalp), and the end result looked great. He even gave me a discount since it was his first time doing a bun for a customer. which I thought was super thoughtful. I also thought the ambiance of the salon was super cozy and brought all the vintage vibes!

The finished product was frizzy and looks like I washed and blow dried it at home. I have no one else to blame but myself for giving them another try. Please save yourself the stress and leaving pissed off and avoid this place at all costs. P.s. not only do they not know how to blow dry or style hair, but they're never on time.

At one point said she was 'not prepared' for my hair. Why not? That's literally her job. She cut it dry, it felt very chaotic. I found this place bc I searched for a razor cut, liked the examples of the work. I expected a wet, razor cut. Scissors are fine too. If I wanted a 'curly cut' or DRY cut I would've searched for that. Couldn't get a decent blowout which should last days this didn't even look good immediately after much less after the walk through SF fog to my car. I tipped 30 on top of the 190 starting price. So 220 total. Plus I come from the north bay and had to drive over the bridge into SF. I have waited for weeks to finally post a review because I really tried to give it a chance but I'm very unhappy I wasted over 200 and couldn't even get a good cut or blowout. My hair is curly but it doesn't need any special treatment it can be cut normally, wet, and can be worn either way, curly or smooth, with a good cut. Once again, a stylist was late, then rushed me, didn't listen, didn't deliver, wasted my time and money, and ruined years of grow out. And I'll have to go back to trimming it myself as these shattered layers grow out to recover the thickness I had. I could have done a better job myself at home. I did not hate what I came in with, i actually liked it. It just needed to be cleaned up and evened out basically. Long layers. Classic. Could not have been a more simple request. She completely overcomplicated things. No idea why she cut it dry, and I did not want that! but she didn't ask or consult me if I was OK with it or tell me ahead of time she planned to do that. But she was perfectly polite n all. Just not at all the skill level I expect of a senior stylist charging nearly 200 for a cut. For that I expect a great blowout to be no problem at all. I expect to walk out feeling confident. I have examples of great past cuts. I wish I had just walked out in the 30 minutes she made me wait. The last cut I had from someone else they were also very late and it sucks that happened yet again. Wasn't sure bc they take cc info upfront and say they charge for late cancels if it was even an option without getting charged. Ought to have been able to get a nice cut and blowout for over 200. Should not have been this complicated or difficult. Also think the so called clean/green products, maybe just don't perform as well as the ones that aren't greenwashed and just focus on performance. They did nothing to give me the moisture or the protection from fog and frizz my hair needs. And the whole time my people pleasing, introvert self was just saying oh yeah thats fine no problem oh yeah cool sounds good i trust you yeah i love it its great thanks! smh Not at all the experience I was paying for, to actually feel pampered and not have to do this job myself. I could've done it myself and been happy with it. I wouldn't have done what she did to my hair myself. the location also leaves much to be desired but thats SF in general the local bums and crazies are to be expected. the search for a stylist that will deliver professional service and results? sadly continues.

Any anxiety I had went away immediately when I walked to the shop and Krista waved hi to me. Honestly one of the warmest sweetest people I've had the pleasure of meeting AND she is a master of hair magic. She communicated with me throughout, made sure I was happy and comfortable, and let me know what was happening while she was doing my hair. Y'all, I am beyond amazed and impressed with how everything turned out. I have really thick unruly curly hair in my opinion and she tamed it and styled it and I already know even after I wash my hair and do my natural curls, it's going to look amazing. She checked in with me to make sure that the color was what I wanted and when the first time wasn't as vibrant as I wanted she helped me adjust until I was satisfied. Honestly this was the greatest experience I've had this year, if not my whole life with hair. My reasoning for giving 2 stars is because of what happened on 2 separate occasions. I came in to get my roots redone and I always discuss pricing before we start to avoid what eventually happened. When I was rang up, I was charged an extra $30 without being consulted. The girls who did my hair both seemed uncomfortable to tell me I was being over charged what I was quoted and apologized. I was obviously annoyed and said that price was never discussed or consulted with me before. They gave some reason about needing more hair dye? I thought it was bullshit and it seemed like someone else, maybe the owner, was adding it on without their knowledge and had to deal with the issue of telling a customer on the spot. The whole situation felt off. It's not about the money, I can afford an extra $30. It's about the principle of transparency and professionalism which I think wasn't shown on these 2 occasions. Unfortunately I won't be coming back to this salon which is disappointing because I really liked both girls who did my hair but my experience in the last couple of years tells me this place adds on extra charges, without your knowledge and I can't trust a salon that doesn't lead with transparency or professionalism.

I have been a loyal client at this salon for five years, but after my last visit with Becks 3.5…read moremonths ago, I will not be returning or recommending her services. During my appointment, Becks made drastic, irreversible changes to my hair without my consent. Despite explicitly knowing my hair history--including recent post-breastfeeding regrowth--and knowing I have naturally thin hair and have always kept my shortest layers at shoulder length, she cut off over 8 inches of length in sections, thinned my hair out to a third of its original volume, and cut top layers to ear-length. The result was a severely thinned-out, top-heavy mullet shape, blended down to a sparse fraction of my original length in the back. I had to stop Becks mid-haircut to ask what was happening when I noticed the heavy thinning and short chops at my ears. When I pointed out the ear-length layers, she took zero accountability and repeatedly pointed to the thin long strands in the back to claim she "kept the length." To make matters worse, during my previous couple of visits with her, Becks charged me full price for dry cuts without a shampoo, wash, or style, claiming this was her standard procedure--which was not the case for the four-plus years prior. I waited over three months to write this review to see if a few months of growth would make it manageable. It hasn't. The damage cannot even be reshaped by another stylist; my only option is to wait a full year for the ear-length layers to grow back. I now have to wear clip-in extensions every single day from the moment I wake up just to feel presentable. After five years of loyalty, I expected far better communication, technique, and basic professional accountability from Becks.

She was very knowledgeable about products and what kind of processing I can do in my hair without damaging it or breaking it more than it already was from previous stylists. She put a gentle bleach and toner and was able to take out the many bands that were lift from the other person I had been seeing. I KNOW MY REVIEW IS TO FREEKING LONG / A MAKE NO APOLOGIES FOR THAT ! I discovered Eduardo (the co-owner) at Echos Hair Design in July, He gave me the best hair cut I'd ever had. I went from all one length, past the shoulder long hair to a 'Louise Brooks' bob look that ended at the jaw line. (It was right before a trip to Paris, and I felt like a star in the French city!) I'd never experienced such an eye for detail before while having my hair cut. Painstakingly, he measured, trimmed, evaluated and trimmed to even things up as needed. I walked out feeling like a million dollars! If you aren't happy with your hair, he isn't happy either and will take the time to make it right so that you will love it at the end (Heck, even if you don't realize there's something to be unhappy with, he will take the time to fix it!) His initial consultations are also a treat he is not rushed . He listens to what I'm saying and states it back to me to avoid any confusion and he's able to see my personal hair patterns and he can determine the best places to trim it. He looks at the whole picture, not just the hair and consistently gives a cut that looks terrific with my face shape. I have never seen anybody get out of any seat in that salon and not have a great look. If you're interested in edgy, quirky, and fun, this is your place! And if you just want a simple trim for your locks, he does that exquisitely as well!, In the past I have experience trims from HELL, so even when I get a trim I can close my eyes and relax and know that Eduardo is not going to cut inches of my head. He recommend coloring my hair, I mentioned I have no interest in color he has never brought it up again! And I love booking my appointments online . Price wise Eduardo is less expensive than my boy in New York but I will not mention that to him unless of course he reads my review , the value of the work done at Echos Hair Design has made a return customer out of me! If you are in need of a makeover, or just a plain old trim, go and visit Eduardo at Echos Hair Design. I have pretty high standards, I am quite observant and picky with how people handle my hair and me as a person! I prefer people who are caring and considerate and love what they do. Well, Eduardo is EXACTLY that!! When you walk in, the friendly, professional staff will greet you and make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. The salon is very hip, clean and filled with good vibes! It was so refreshing to find a hair stylist that is so down to earth and expresses their creativity so freely and for the benefit of the client. It doesn't hurt he is just downright genius with hair!! He makes sure you walk out of there happy and looking amazing. I am not kidding, people. I felt like a supermodel walking down the street...I rarely write reviews, but he is a true master. He cut my extremely long, damaged hair, and made sure he didn't cut too much (as I was clinging to my long locks with a death grip!) and he colored it using the latest fashionable colors I was amazed at the results! I've been going to Eduardo at Echos for almost 5 years, now (!), so this review is long overdue. I have long, wavy-curly hair that is fairly easy to cut and style, but it frizzes and flips out and I wasn't thrilled with my mousy-brown natural shade. After spending the day with Eduardo, I always emerge looking like nothing short of a supermodel, with shiny, silky tresses that inspire awe from friends and strangers!! At first, I was nervous about getting a razor cut, but don't be! Eduardo's hairstyles frame your face in those perfect wispy layers, grow out beautifully, and last for months. Also trepidatious about committing to the vicious circle of highlights and roots, I had nothing to fear! Eduardo's color looks SO natural that the highlights even grow out without visible roots and I only need to go back a few times a year!! The environment is hip and cool with plenty of natural light, and great music! The assistants are also charming and eager to please, and their product lines Rene Furterer, and Loreal Professionnel are actually worth purchasing, especially the serum, deep conditioner, and styling foams! When It comes to my hair and who touches it I am very picky! I moved to San Francisco from the Midwest and had to immediately search for a good barber that knew what he/she was doing. Eventually I came across a card for Chris Eliares from a guy with an incredible giants portrait done in the back of his head for the world series! I knew this guy had talent so I made an appointment for as soon as I could get in to see him. After he cut my hair I knew that I had found my new barber! He is super professional about everything he does and always puts 110% into all of his work. He takes his time, paying attention to detail, and making sure he gives you exactly what you ask for. He is an artist, super talented, and can cut any style/type of hair. His portraits and designs he does are on a whole other level! Chris has been cutting my hair for almost four years now. Chris is a true genius when it comes to hair! If you don't believe me, you can see his work on Fox Sports or through twitter and instagram accounts of bay area celebrities like E-40 and Colin Kaepernick. Not only is Chris a talented artist, but he makes it a pleasant trip every time I go to get a haircut. One thing that I've noticed, is that he always greets his clients with a smile and no matter who's sitting in his chair, they converse as if they've known each other for years. And in terms of the haircut, Chris always makes sure the client gets exactly what they're looking for, and I think his along with his natural talent, his attention to detail is what's making him the best in the business! He's never in a rush, but always efficient and making sure that his clients look good and feel good. I can't do anything but rave about my experiences having my hair done by Chris. A great customer experience and a quality haircut at an affordable price is all that I can ask for. Five Stars: Let me start by saying, I am VERY picky about who touches my hair and how much freedom I give any stylist. I have been getting my haircut by the same great stylist for over 5 years but the trek back to NY for a cut and color is getting a bit of a scheduling nightmare. I heard great things about Echos Hair Design, noticed they had an edge to their work and gave them a try. I made my appointment online, with Eduardo after he called me back to answer some of my concerns about my hair. I arrived on a sweaty day during the recent heatwave. Greeted right away, offered a beverage while I waited a few minutes. My apt was with Eduardo , and he was AWESOME. I had high hopes he would fix me up with some a edgy cut. He was great. He had ideas, he talked me through it, and I could not be happier with my cut and color. I have 100% found my San Francisco salon and stylist. Eliares is a hair-cutting-mad-man! He is a true barber through & through. He does not rush. He takes his time to ensure that your cut will be as fresh & clean as possible. He has high respect for details and wants to make sure that you're happy with his work. I've been getting my hair cut by him wherever he's been and since I've been in the Bay Area. I remember when he was cutting hair out of his dad's garage and charging $5. He sure has come a long way since then and is only getting better. Eliares is a humble man with great talent. He can cut any style you wish - I know because I've gone through several different hair styles with him. He is always welcoming and without effort makes the visit terrific. I was frustrated with my hair stylist and saw a deal on Bloomspot with Tik at Echos. I called and made an appointment with her and it was an amazing experience. My last hair stylist had failed to give me the cool-toned blonde color that I described, instead I had ended up with caramel and gold toned high and low lights which didn't suit my complexion. On top of being a lovely person, Tik obviously really knows what she is doing and is a true artist. Despite the complexity of the color correction and the fact that I had roots, she managed to analyze the situation and make my hair a beautiful light and cool-toned blonde--even better than I could have dreamed of! When I went out later that evening, my girlfriends instantly asked WHO had done my gorgeous hair, and I was happy to fill them in. The best Stylist for Japanese in San Francisco!! I have Asian hair with thick and a super volume hair almost cannot manage it my self. I have been living in S.F. for almost 10 yrs and went to many different Japanese hair salons (I only go to the Japanese hair salon because they are the best to me), but no one could ever cut my hair what I 100% like and I was always looking for a suitable hair stylist for my self. I found Eduardo 15 years ago when I first moved to SF, and the experience is so much more than pretty hair. First, Eduardo is a highly skilled stylist, both with cut and color. He is open and listens to what I want. I'm fickle- always asking for changes, and Eduardo not only rolls with it, he's always up for trying new styles. At the same time, Eduardo is straightforward with his professional opinion if a style will not work well with my hair - I appreciate the reality check. Eduardo and his wife, Jina, are warm, happy people, and this is reflected in the atmosphere of the salon - we're often chatting and joking "across chairs". As a businessman, it is clearly a priority for Eduardo to keep his salon welcoming and stylish. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. and when in San Francisco, visit Eduardo. After reading and hearing about Eduardo well I've always been curious, and decided to splurge on a visit . I made an appointment with Eduardo for cut and color. Honestly, I dont think in my entire life I've been so chic. He definitely dropped 10 years after 3 hours with Eduardo and his scissors. and moi? I am in love with my haircut and color, He doesn't go overboard, which I was so grateful for, but really pays attention to your whole look. I was so happy to land with Eduardo Lazo, he cuts and colors which is not typical at many places you need to go to two different people. Eduardo dedicated his time to talk to me and he also takes time to truly guide you to the best style and color and when he finishes it looks fabulous! The first time I went to Eduardo my hair was a disaster. It was was an over processed, sorely neglected, pile of straw on my head. After just one visit, my hair transformed! The next day I went online to make my next appointment, and first time ever my mom loved my hair cut and style! (love my Mom) Eduardo is a manic genius when it comes to men's haircuts. He knows how to listen to what you want, how far to go, and makes really good conversation; he's hilarious! But, the perfect grow-back that his cuts engender will have you set for at least a month. My First Review On Yelp! I've finally found a salon I love! Echos Hair Design in S.F. but when i leave this place I feel like my money has been well spent, which will forever keep me coming back! Eduardo is an amazing stylist who takes the time to explain how and why he cuts and styles as he does. This is 10 steps ahead of the stylists out there who just cut and kick you out. It seems to be that people dont always leave good reviews when theyre happy (although not the case here), and more often when they're not.. and so for that I want to shout this place out for their greatness because they deserve it! read more

I have beautiful, light wavy hair and have had multiple disastrous results in the past. Until I met Eduardo. He gave me the haircut I asked for - he listens! He gave me the best haircut ever. Gone are the days of square , flat, bubble head haircuts. I am definitely going back to him for a funkier cut. Yes, I trust him. Yes, he knows exactly the cut he's going to give me. I can't wait. I was at Echos recently getting my hair colored and cut by Jina. There is no one better! I have been going to her for years and get compliments all the time (even from people I don't know!). Eduardo, her husband and co-owner, is also fantastic. I always look forward to going to Echos because I know I will see great stylists at work and will be able to relax in a friendly, fun environment. I recommend either Jina or Eduardo from personal experience, but if they are busy, I'm sure they can refer you to another stylist in the salon. Echos is top-notch! read more

Had my hair cut and colored at Echos....Eduardo cut and colored my hair and I have to say...I LOVE it.....He knew exactly the right cut for my face and style...I am thrilled! He gave me just the right color for my age and style....just can't say enough how pleased I am....Yes, it's pricey...but if your priority is a great cut and color, you can't go wrong with Eduardo... While her move was all for a good reason, the thought of looking for a new hair salon was a bit terrifying, especially when I had someone cut my hair perfectly for so long. Then came the desperation. I saw a few stylists at the same salon and they were fine but they were missing a certain touch of style...my style. I don't get my hair cut very often so when I do, it's a pretty big ****ing deal. Just as my hair grew out to the point of unruly, there came an unexpected opportunity. Yelp hosted an elite event to showcase the newly re-opened Crocker Galleria and I was all over that like Batman on crime. Galleria Hair Design was giving free bang trims to attendees and after chugging a few beers, I had enough liquid courage in me to try it out. Because of the huge turn out, there weren't enough stylists to accommodate me. Eric H. apologized and gave me his business card for a rain check. Soon enough, I scheduled a bang trim online and crossed my fingers. After looking at a few photos and discussing details, Eric got to work. His attention to detail was spot on. He took his time and I really appreciated the active conversation not just around my hair but the kind that I always imagined a hair stylist would have with their client. We chopped it up! *pun intended* heh heh... I went back for a full cut today and I can proudly (and very happily) say that I have found my new hair salon. As much as I want Eric H. all to myself, I highly recommend him. He listens to every detail, is genuine with his opinions, and is focused on the customer experience. Price-wise, I can't complain. $65 for shampoo, cut and style beats the $90 I was paying for over 5 years! My son at the time was 3.5 years old . Prior to our appointment I had a discussion with Eric informing him my son is fearful of anyone trying to cut or trim his hair. Especially the sound of a buzzer. What a relief ; I finally found a hair stylist who's understanding, patients , gentle and compassionate. Eric made my son felt at ease and comfortable . Eric took his time, explained to my son what he was going to do, showed him the tools and what each one is for. My son was happy with his haircut and no longer in fear and looks forward to his next appointment with Eric and (no one else. He tells me.) Sadly we moved far away. But when ever we are in town for a visit, we are able to schedule appointments on line.

I discovered Echos when I followed my previous stylist there after he left another salon…read more I was struck by the casual, friendly atmosphere, no snobbery or phoniness, no "hair nazis"; just real people, talented and consistent stylists. Also mpressed by how long so many of the clients there have been working with the staff. Eduardo, the co-owner, is particularly good with color, knowledgeable about hair in general, loves what he does and communicates that to his clients. When my old stylist left to go elsewhere, I opted to work with Eduardo, and have been totally pleased ever since (that was at least 8 or 9 years ago). He's also excellent with Yuko straightening (which I've been doing regularly for a number of years), and his fee for Yuko treatments are nowhere near the bloated prices charged by many high-overhead, high-end salons here in the City. I've gotten countless compliments and kudos about my hair since going to him, and love the way he creates the style and look I want. The salon decor is unpretentious, but the talent there is solid. Very easy access (2 blocks) from Montgomery St BART exit. Don't quite understand the reference to "bogus reviews" from a previous "reviewer"-- there is only one other review shown, not the two cited-- but from direct, long-term experience, can recommend without reservation.

First off, he took time and washed my hair was superior products than what I use. Although, I think everything has to be better than a giant tub of Costco brand shampoo and conditioner. I got side swept bangs and a little bit of layering in the front. He also did a dry cut after to make sure everything was beautiful. He also gave me great tips on how to keep my hair pretty and natural. The cut is expensive for me but it was completely worth it. He took his time and I came out with a professional looking cut. Long cuts are $80. Because I was a first time customer, Brandon's partner and business associate gave me a 20% discount. I saw 3 returning customers there during my cut. It was pretty amazing considering there were only 2 chairs and I was there for 1 1/2 hours. I will be returning.
