I got referral to Ed's stump service through yelp. I got a call from him after sending him a picture of the plant we needed to remove. He very kindly told me that he could come out to remove it but it isn't very hard to do it by ourselves as it's a yucca plant and it's full of water. He told me all about the plant and how to get it out, also how to keep it from growing back! He called me a few days later to make sure everything went ok but we hadn't started on it yet so I let him know we will update him when we start the project. ​Well, we did it today and he let us know how well we did and what else we need to do. You don't hire the best people you can for when everything goes right on a job: you hire the best people to handle the situation when something goes wrong. When things went wrong this week, I was very very glad I had hired Ed. This week Ed came out to grind a gigantic set of roots left by a recently removed tree (the tree was big enough that the roots were like buried trees themselves). He was prompt, friendly, highly professional, and after quoting a very fair price got right to work. Then the machine hit the water main. On a holiday. Uh oh. Before I'd even lined up an emergency city worker to come out or started looking for plumbers, Ed had shut off the water main, entirely dug out and cleaned up the damaged pipe, and wouldn't leave until he saw that the situation was entirely rectified. The city water worker assured us both that there was no way to know the pipe was there and thus no way to avoid it; the plumber charged me half of what it would have cost because Ed had worked so hard to prep the site, and to top it all off Ed FINISHED grinding the stump, and -- seriously -- wanted to take the entire cost of the plumber (emergency plumber on a federal holiday, mind you) off his bill. Since it wasn't his fault at all and because he stuck by the job, I wanted to pay for the plumber myself and pay Ed his full rate for the original stumpgrinding, but because he insisted I finally consented to splitting the plumber's bill with him. He not only finished the job perfectly, I don't think I've had any work done on the house that was cleaned up so thoroughly and tidily as this one. In short, I couldn't recommend Ed more highly. Nice guy, true professional, and an awfully nice dog to boot. read more

I had an oleander tree in my back yard that I needed removed to make room for some landscaping that will be done in a couple weeks. I called him on May 20th 2020 and told him that the tree hasn't been been cut down yet. He said he will come by on Thursday after he finishes a job in Natomas. He looked at the tree and said he can cut the tree down but he won't be able to have the branches chipped/grounded because he doesn't have a chipper/grinder. So he quoted a price and it was very reasonable. He got the tree cut down and grounded the stumps and I was very pleased with his work. I had a stump in my back yard that I wanted removed. I had a different stump grinding company come to take it out, but we discovered that the normal stump grinding machine, which weighs 1,200 pounds and is 36" wide, could not fit through the gates. They recommended that I call Ed, who has a smaller machine. Ed had two machines, and the smaller one got to the site of the stump without any problem. Ed is Amazing! I had a Liquid Amber that is gummy, difficult to remove, and had roots extending all along my lawn. Not only did Ed remove it all, including the roots & stump very quickly - but he told me that if I find that he missed a root he will come back as part of his thorough customer service. He has been in the business his whole life, and his equipment is new & extensive.
