I had a 27" laurel stump that tore up part of a concrete patio and jacked up the fence by six inches. It proved to be too tough to chop out by hand. Brandon of Diverse Universe Fencing called Ed's Sump Grinding. He came out the next day and took it out in 45 minutes at a cost that was less then I paid for smaller stumps. Ed is a throw back to a time when a business actually cared about customer service, putting out a great product and putting the customer first. Ed will give you a fair price, show up when he says he will and complete the job to your satisfaction. It was a pleasure meeting Ed. I was actually happy paying for the job. That never happens. read more

We had a huge pine tree come down during a wind storm and this stump was left after everything else was hauled away. Ed came out right away, assessed the situation and went to work. He was one of the most energetic people I've ever met and one of the nicest. He worked until dark and was right back out there the next day to finish up. Do not hesitate to call on Ed. He will definitely be our "go to" guy. read more

My wife found Ed on Yelp and he's been super helpful and courteous! He came out and checked out the stump and gave me a quote after coming up with a game plan on how he'll direct the chips away from the windows and prop up plywood around the stump grinder to control the debris in one area. He text me and sent me pictures when the job was done and we're super happy with the results. He is the owner/operator and takes pride in his work and it shows. Call him for a quote, he's flexible and can swing by to tackle any stump. read more

Ed is a very nice person and a hard worker. He resolved a tree stump for me that was really difficult to grind down. His price was fair I thank him for his help. read more

I got referral to Ed's stump service through yelp. I got a call from him after sending him a picture of the plant we needed to remove. He very kindly told me that he could come out to remove it but it isn't very hard to do it by ourselves as it's a yucca plant and it's full of water. He told me all about the plant and how to get it out, also how to keep it from growing back! He called me a few days later to make sure everything went ok but we hadn't started on it yet so I let him know we will update him when we start the project. Well, we did it today and he let us know how well we did and what else we need to do. He didn't charge us anything for all of his helpful advice. I truly appreciate his honesty and helpfulness and wanted to let him know. Thank you so much Ed! read more

You don't hire the best people you can for when everything goes right on a job: you hire the best people to handle the situation when something goes wrong. When things went wrong this week, I was very very glad I had hired Ed. This week Ed came out to grind a gigantic set of roots left by a recently removed tree (the tree was big enough that the roots were like buried trees themselves). He was prompt, friendly, highly professional, and after quoting a very fair price got right to work. Then the machine hit the water main. On a holiday. Uh oh. Before I'd even lined up an emergency city worker to come out or started looking for plumbers, Ed had shut off the water main, entirely dug out and cleaned up the damaged pipe, and wouldn't leave until he saw that the situation was entirely rectified. The city water worker assured us both that there was no way to know the pipe was there and thus no way to avoid it; the plumber charged me half of what it would have cost because Ed had worked so hard to prep the site, and to top it all off Ed FINISHED grinding the stump, and -- seriously -- wanted to take the entire cost of the plumber (emergency plumber on a federal holiday, mind you) off his bill. Since it wasn't his fault at all and because he stuck by the job, I wanted to pay for the plumber myself and pay Ed his full rate for the original stumpgrinding, but because he insisted I finally consented to splitting the plumber's bill with him. He not only finished the job perfectly, I don't think I've had any work done on the house that was cleaned up so thoroughly and tidily as this one. In short, I couldn't recommend Ed more highly. Nice guy, true professional, and an awfully nice dog to boot. read more

Good customer service and workmanship are getting harder to come by these days. Gratefully Ed's Stump Grinding still provides both! A recent storm damaged my tree, I'd had him on a job a couple years before and because of the previous great service (and pricing) he immediately came to mind. I called and he was there. Within a short period of time the dangerous area was no longer a problem and work site was clean! I highly recommend Ed's Stump Grinding. He is prompt, courteous and very reasonably priced. I had an oleander tree in my back yard that I needed removed to make room for some landscaping that will be done in a couple weeks. I called him on May 20th 2020 and told him that the tree hasn't been been cut down yet. He said he will come by on Thursday after he finishes a job in Natomas. He looked at the tree and said he can cut the tree down but he won't be able to have the branches chipped/grounded because he doesn't have a chipper/grinder. So he quoted a price and it was very reasonable. He got the tree cut down and grounded the stumps and I was very pleased with his work. Only took a couple hours for him to cut the tree down and removed the stump. You won't go wrong by hiring him and you will get your money's worth. read more

I saw Ed removing a tree stump in my neighbors yard and asked him for a business card. He came and gave me an estimate which was 50% less than prior estimates I received. I hired him to remove a total of 7 stumps. He arrived on time, provided a written estimate/invoice and completed the job within 90 minutes which included cleaning up the job sites. He was friendly, professional and efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again and I highly recommend him. Thanks Ed read more

I had a stump in my back yard that I wanted removed. I had a different stump grinding company come to take it out, but we discovered that the normal stump grinding machine, which weighs 1,200 pounds and is 36" wide, could not fit through the gates. They recommended that I call Ed, who has a smaller machine. Ed had two machines, and the smaller one got to the site of the stump without any problem. Ed was friendly, on time, and did a good job at a reasonable price. I would definitely use him again. read more

Ed is Amazing! I had a Liquid Amber that is gummy, difficult to remove, and had roots extending all along my lawn. Not only did Ed remove it all, including the roots & stump very quickly - but he told me that if I find that he missed a root he will come back as part of his thorough customer service. He has been in the business his whole life, and his equipment is new & extensive. I had another tree service fail to show up 3 times - probably because my job was bigger than they had originally anticipated - and when I told Ed that he came out to my home immediately! He is friendly, explains everything so that I can make my own decision - and he charged me far less than I thought he would for such a big job. Call Ed if you want quick response, thorough work, a friendly voice, & reasonable pricing! read more

There I was crowbar in hand, feeling like a pitiful cave woman trying to dig out a maple tree stump and its root system, realizing this job was an effort in futility, when out of nowhere Ed drives up with his stump grinding logo on his truck door and asks me how I'm doing. It was kismet!! He gave me a very fair price and soon ground down the wood, afterwords we realized that we briefly knew each other 20 years ago! In case you not as lucky as I was to look up and find the answer smiling back at you, give him a call, he's very friendly, licensed and reasonable! read more
