I had a late lunch at a Japanese restaurant in Kazimierz called Edo. Nice place; bamboo patterned wallpaper, wooden table mats, and staff in kimonos. I ordered Gomoku Sushi which had prawns, crab stick and unagi on a bed of rice (35PLN) and a flask of warm sake (26PLN).
The meal looked good, but the unagi was a little dry and lacking that marvellous soy-based glaze that makes it normally such a luscious dish. The prawn was just a prawn really. Nothing special there. There were also a couple of crab sticks, some rather tasteless green stuff that may have been seaweed, a wad of pickled ginger, some sliced mushrooms that also tasted slightly pickled, and little roulades of egg which were actually the tastiest thing in the bowl. Overall, not bad and compared to the price of an equivalent Japanese meal back home, pretty good value. read more
