Edo fusion stands out as a great place for Asian food in Krakow. The interior is beautifully…read moredesigned and is an elegant place to sit. The food is well prepared, nicely served and usually pretty tasty. The choice is really extensive and covers various Asian cuisines (Japanese, Thai, Korean, etc). I always have a feeling that it is expensive though and I am not sure that it is a deserved opinion. The menu is so tempting that I always want to order about 10 dishes (excluding sushi) which would be very expensive so I don't and feel like it was too expensive, even though I wouldn't be able to eat it all. Main courses could be a bit bigger though, even if it was just more rice. Memo to self: order a big binge feast there sometime with at least 10 dishes and take a hungry friend.

We liked so much we returned a 2nd time, our only repeat meal over 2 weeks in Europe! We had two types of Curry, Panang and Yellow, both were great. We asked to substitute Chicken vs the Shrimp or other meats shown on menu with those curry and they accommodated without any fuss and charged us the lower price for Chicken (vs Shrimp) without even being requested. The Thai Soup in Coconut base was excellent as well. The Chicken Kapungi was surprisingly deep fried which we didn't get from the menu - tasty but we wouldn't get that one again. Chicken Skewers were very good. Prices reasonable including the drinks. Highly recommended. We didn't try the sushi from that menu, it was a bit higher priced (for Poland) but I am guessing top notch based on the restaurant but we didn't feel it worth trying that on this trip given we have access to great Sushi back home.

The pad thai on the other hand was rather disappointing. The noodle was cooked in a wok that obviously lacks the necessary firepower. It failed to caramelize the sugar in the sauce, so the dish didn't acquire the characteristic taste. On the plus side the portion was large. Despite being unimpressed by the food, I had a positive experience at Tao overall. Firstly, that's because I got to drink a beer on a swing. Second, the beer showed up accompanied by a big bowl of wasabi peas--and I love wasabi peas. Third, there were bunnies in the garden. I'll definitely come back again another time and try something else on the menu. The ramen looks pretty good.

Inside I tend to sit (or rather kneel) at the low table in a nice little curtained-off "booth" overlooked by a buddha. The whole place is beautifully decorated and the calming music and efficient service will ensure you leave the restaurant calm and having achieved inner peace with yourself. The sushi here is fantastic. I usually opt for the 26 piece samurai set (there are cheaper lunchtime deals at an even more reasonable price). Desserts are nice. There is a green theme going on here, you can order such delights as green tiramisu, green creme brulee and green lemonade. If you're not into sushi there are other options, I quite enjoyed the ramen burger, a normal burger but with a bun made of noodles instead of bread. To sum up, I love this place.

Sushi is one these dishes that you can simply prepare and eat or you can prepare it, eat it, share…read moreit and be happy about it :-) The process of making sushi is for me the most important part of the sushi party. Selection of indgredients, granularity of rice, fresh vegetables and fish, esthetics of cutting and rolling. It is important not only to like the sushi itself but also to like preparing it for others :-) not to mention the way it is presented on the table afterwords. Sushi is also one of these dishes that you can order and eat in a restaurant and also feel good about it :-) NINE kitchen is that kind of a restaurant. I was really surprised because I haven't felt this kind of sushi taste in a restaurant before. It was like as if they really liked making these rolls and it was made with passion. Rice wasn't dry, ingredients were fresh and tasty, wine was delicious and I am talking about as simple as it gets (it was a simple japanese plum wine that you can get in Alma). What is also surprising is the price, I don't quite remember what was it actually but it was about 20 zlotys to get a very decent portion of 2-3 types of maki and a complimentary nigiri + all the other suplementary parts like wasabi, soy sauce, ginger etc. The interior of the restaurant is very pleasant, everything was the way it should be and just fitted together. I was there with Lawrence and another girl from the US and we even had a little chat with the owner. She lived in Canada for couple of years and apparently liked eating and making sushi there. What she says and I agree that sushi doesn't have to be so expensive to be good. My personal opinion is that sushi in Polish restaurants is overpriced without any apparent reason. Probably the owners think that it is so special and uncommon that it needs to be expensive. Well.. it doesn't and NINE kitchen is a proof of that. I will definitely come back and I will bring people there :-)
