A business contact suggested this place for lunch when I asked for a place with good vegetarian options. He said it was an award-winning restaurant which mainly served vegetarian food. I found it *a bit* off that the restaurant sign said "vegetarian restaurant" with that in mind. It turned out that it was indeed a vegetarian/vegan place only but the food is so good (as it should be) that the guy in question had been eating at Pod Norenami several times thinking he had eaten chicken and other meat when it had in fact been tofu. I couldn't stop laughing about his surprised look. So please leave all your silly prejudices about how vegetarian or vegan food taste by the door and just enjoy the amazing menu here for what it is, really great plant-based Asian food for all senses. A rather strange, but pleasant new entry to Kraków's culinary scene. Pod Norenami is an East-Asian vegetarian restaurant. In Asia, due to the prevalence of Buddhism, people who normally eat meat might occasionally opt to go without it (to recharge on karma, or something). Vegetarian restaurants therefore carter to the general public instead of a closed sect of folks with a penchant for punishment. What this means is that the dishes actually taste good. Pod Norenami largely manages to recreate the Far East experience. Even if you're not a vegetarian (I'm not), it's a good place to go if you suddenly have a craving for Asian food. I would recommend the Buddha's Delight, a standard dish in East Asian vegetarian cooking. Their maki (sans fish) are also quite delicious. Seitan (mock meat) is somewhat of an acquired taste. Unless you're inquisitive, don't try it. It tastes nothing like meat. read more

Easily the best vegetarian restaurant in Krakow and as a meat eater, I can say it is fabulous for carnivores as well. The only problem is that you have to visit many times to explore the enormous menu and discover the real hits such as the Fuji Yama futomaki, the pad Thai and if vegan is your way, the delicious red rice salad. Don't fool yourself, the food may not be that healthy as there is a fair bit of frying going on but who cares. Service tends to be variable and getting in on a Sunday without a reservation is a bit hit or miss. See if you can resist a dessert even if you are stuffed, the green tea tart usually tempts me. read more

Ok I love this place, it was very quiet when I went which is just what I needed. The food is very good. I have a lovely starter and main dish were perfect. So many flavours and done just how I wanted and stated on the menu. If you like Japanese, Thai food then I very high recommend this restaurant. The prices are also good. Tasty, interesting choices! Highly recommended! The menu is a book! Seriously extensive! But be prepared they might not have all the dishes available at all the times! The good thing is there are still plenty to choose:) We started with a nice 8 piece set of sushi. So there was no fighting for food! Hot and sour tofu soup was equally delicious. After a big lunch there was only place for a shared mains dish( falafels) and it was tasty as well! read more

I am so glad to have found this place because the food was great and it wasn't too far from the hotel I was staying at. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there was no air conditioning (I stayed in Poland for a week during the summer so it got kind of hot in the restaurant). Also my appetizer came out when the rest of my family's dinners came out and when I finished my appetizer, my dinner didn't arrive until 10-20 minutes after the rest of my family finished their dinner. I visited this restaurant twice and the second time I decided to not order an appetizer because I didn't want that same incident to happen again. But overall the food was good, the waitstaff were nice, and tourists don't really know about this place so it's pretty chill. read more

We went to Pod Norenami on a saturday evening. We had made a reservation but not necessarily so, as it turned out. The interior gives a Asian atmosphere without overdoing it with fake Asian kitsch. The menu itself is quite diverse, but note that the "" before and after the beef and chicken indicate that they are not actually from an animal. As a starter we had the Fuji-Yama sushi set. We never thought that vegetarian sushi could be so delicious. Maki-rolls with rice and vegetables, deep fried in tempura batter and lathered with two types of sauce. From this point on it was clear that we would not have to leave with our stomachs empty. As for the main menu, we went for "beef" in coconut-sauce, and Pad Thai Tofu. The "beef" tasted very much like beef, to the extent that we doubted whether we had been fooled. A very soft dish with strong coconut taste, that is highly recommended. The Pad Thai was also very nice, but there is really no need to go for the tofu considering the fake meat is so meat-like. One point for improvement would be the service: the waitress forgot to mention they were out of Ramen, and after finishing the main dish we sort of felt forgotten, so we just went and left, paying at the bar. Had we not been too full to eat dessert, this would be have been a bigger problem. We will surely come back to try some baklava and more sushi! Hopefully they'll have ramen too this time. read more

Best Far East fusion Restaurant. Even though I am very far from being vegetarian :) They are using very original recipes totally vegetarian in style. For example, names for meat like pork- mean you can be served some substitute of it in the form of veggie transformation. They dishes looked much Japanese, like sashimi,sushi, hotomaki or udon/miso soups. Dishes are rich in flavours and aromas, served on beautiful porcelain. It is not classic Japanese cuisine -I would say Chinese and Japanese recipes twisted in special way , using vegetarian equivalents of meat. Loving so much Udon-I ordered Ramen with stripes of veggies and even egg was in there- all was delicious and I had Ume plum wine with ice and could definitely sip it forever. Décor of the place comforted me. Defo Ume is delicious and probably I would get more one day. read more

We found this vegetarian restaurant listed in one of the tourist guides. The description referenced the no-meat, faux-meat fare piquing the dining population's interest. We went early enough in the evening, so we could walk in and be seated without a reservation. The menu is quite extensive; I would love to go back and sample more from the menu. Alas we had our one visit for now - we hope to return to Krakow sometime. We enjoyed the Kawai sushi set and the momo Tibetan dumplings. The usual sushi I get is typically of the boring variety, so I am always happy and excited to try new and interesting twists (see the picture!). What a feast! Pod Norenami just recently opened. The interiour is friendly and quiet, with a touch of eastern Asia and beautifully big windows to the street and darker back rooms. The vegetarian and vegan menu quickened my interest. The menu has a wide offer, but on the day we were visiting, all of the dishes with tofu were unavailable, since the restaurant ran out of tofu. That was kind of sad. Alternatives where mostly dishes based on seitan, strangely not declared as vegan, even though seitan in general a vegan dish. That was confusing. We ordered a cold starter, bread with hummus, which was delicious; a warm starter - steamed momo dumplings filled with vegetables. The dough was soft and tasty, but the filling quite boring without any spices. Disappointing was the main course - seitan (mock beef) with broccoli and rice. What sounded fresh and tasty turned out to be a very simple dish, that only tasted of glutamate, that caused the food not only to taste bad and un-natural, but also made it an unhealthy choice - definitely not something I expect and accept when it comes to vegetarian/vegan dishes and something I just don't want to eat, so be aware of that. Maybe that way, the restaurant addresses to people who just want "try" vegetarian/vegan dishes or those who actually cannot do without meet and need "something similar", something that still tastes like meat, but isn't. I cannot say more about other dishes, unfortunately, but I doubt that after this first experience I will go there in the nearest time again. Prices range from cca 15 to 30 zl per dish. A plus is, that it is a "real" restaurant with vegan and vegetarian offers, not just a canteen-like place to eat. But when it comes to vegan, the place has to catch up - e.g. there is no vegan dessert on the menu. And there was soap enriched with yoghurt in the bathroom... read more

I rarely write such bad reviews - but this place made me feel like I was an annoying petitioner, not a client. AN EXCEPTIONALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. An unfriendly place trying to reach its "wanna-be poshness" by not letting you choose the table, serving relatively small (for their price) portions in super uncomfortable dishes (all falls out), annoying waitresses not a single one of whom can actually operate the ec-card terminal and cash-desk. After having spent 15 minutes asking all available staff to change a wrongly issued bill - no .... chance of course as "The manager doesn"t allow it" but "The manager is absent" - I will never ever go there again. And, as I heard my friends had the same issues while paying - I definitely don't recommend it until the misterious manager decides to change the policy for some customer oriented one. read more

This place is FRIGGING amazing, and I only regret that I discovered it 7 months after moving to Krakow, therefore missing out on 7 months of spectacular Asian Fusion food. Wanting something healthy? This Asian/vegetarian fusion restaurant is a great choice if you want a combo of it all. Came in thinking it was a place with traditional but come to realize when reading the menu it is sushi with a vegetarian twist, no meat. Turned out surprisingly amazing. Had the Miso Soup, which had a lot of delicious mushrooms, seaweed salad, and the Nasi Goreng with imitation meat. It was amazing! I made sure to eat the entire thing. A 29 page menu...yes, it is true. This is a Pan Asian restaurant whereby you can eat Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and Indian. I must say, we had the best vegan mock "meat" Chinese dish we have ever had. In almost three decades, nothing compares. The dish is mock "beef" and three mushroom in spicy black bean paste on an iron skillet. We actually went for lunch one day and dinner the next because the dish was so delicious. We had other wonderful food there as well, but the one dish was beyond compare. The serving staff was delightful, efficient, and answered honestly (which was greatly appreciated) when asked about her favorite dishes. Although some other reviews had said it was not authentic enough, my spouse and I loved it. The atmosphere is also calming and lovely. Do not miss this place. In addition, Krakow has by far been the best vegan city for us in all of Europe. Hard to believe but accurate. read more

It's a nice looking place with a cozy feeling. The food was really good but a down side was that quite alot of dishes from the menu you could not ordet cause they were out if ingrediens. So it wasn't so much fun trying to order and you needed to redo your order three times cause they couldn't make the dish. This was an amazing find for us. We were hungry and thought we'd have Asian. We were not prepared for vegan but stuck it out. The beef and broccoli in garlic sauce and the Bimini Garang noodles were both amazingly full of flavor. Desert tart of white chocolate and green tea was delicious and the warm brownie with raspberry sauce was out of this world. Service was a little slow but we will be back. read more
