-Great location, good ambiance -Really nice owner, he came to greet us personally, staff doesn't speak great English -loved the seafood miso soup, had a little spice to it

Delicious sushi, great chef, decent looking restaurant. "Hana Sushi" is on węglowa 4 street in Kazimierz, Kraków. Close to the Jewish square. The restaurant is owned by Chef Jung who has worked in several countries, 6 years in Tokyo, 4 years in London and 3 in Seoul... That's quite impressing experience. Funny thing is, that I wouldn't discover this restaurant if Chef Jung hasn't commented my pic on Instagram. Service was good and kind. The only drawback for some could be that waiter doesn't speak Polish, it's not a problem for me since I speak English quite well but some Poles might find it difficult to order what they want. The restaurant as I've mentioned before is decent looking, it's not too big but nor is too small. Chef and waiter were great, since at the time we were the only ones in the restaurant they came to our table and welcomed us. There were those paper screens in japanese style to separate one table from another, I find it great option because you have more privacy when having your meal. There was also this bar space where you could watch Chef prepare your meal. Food that I had was delicious. Well prepared and served. It really looked like a masterpiece to me. I had "Hana omanase set" in which you can find sashimi, nigiri, peace of octopuss and most importantly sushi chosen at the discretion of Chef so it always differ. I was happy with what I got because it was tasty and filling. For the dessert I had "dorayaki", kind of cookie with green tea filling. In conclusion I have to say that it was the best sushi experience I had in Kraków and anywhere else so far.

The sushi chefs are exceptionally considerate in their preparations and I've yet to encounter fish here that wasn't fresh which is not at all the case on several other places I've tried in the area. Zen is easily on part or above most top end sushi place in terms of prep and clearly at the top of the list in Poland regarding ingredients... this isn't the fish market on Tokyo (where I ate last week) but for Europe it's great. It was my last day in Kraków and I desperately wanted to try some sushi before leaving. Youmiko…read morestarts at 2 p.m. and I was the first customer ready for "the best sushi ever!" When making the reservation, I wanted to have a nice table, and be sure that I was expected right after opening. The restaurant is tiny. With four small tables at the ground level, and a small room in the basement next to the restroom, it could be a crowded dining experience. The bar is too narrow with uncomfortable-looking seats to be an attractive option, at least for me. I was on time. I immediately noticed that the server had an attitude. She was nonchalant, and not particularly friendly. It was the opposite of any experience I'd had in any Japanese restaurant before. I chose the omakase, which has fourteen pieces / 7 courses. As I sipped a Sapporo beer, I was excited to sample what this place had to offer. The clubbing background tune wasn't the best choice for an early, hot and lazy afternoon. The first bite was the 'European Sea Bass Nigiri'. It was served with way too warm rice. When I picked it up it fell apart. Right after that I got a 'Seared Salmon Belly Nigiri', and again, I didn't like the rice at all. 'The Spicy Tuna Gunkan Maki' was tasty and refreshing. I also thought the 'Salmon Cake' was delightful. The 'Eggplant and Avocado', could be an excellent vegan choice. Next, three pieces of 'Salmon with Passion Fruit Hosomaki' were just fine. The last six pieces were 'Shrimp Tempura Futomaki'. It was very good, but I wouldn't expect that with any omakase. It was just too ordinary and nothing special, plus not what I would order in the first place. Perhaps my expectations were too high and anything other than omakase on the menu would have been more satisfying. Also their rice was a failure. I assume, coming right after opening wasn't the best idea. The price I paid was rather high considering Polish realities. Plus the quality of service didn't help to feel good about the whole experience. I tipped, but didn't hear even a little 'thank you' or anything when I was leaving the restaurant. I'm not planning to return anytime soon.

Selection of indgredients, granularity of rice, fresh vegetables and fish, esthetics of cutting and rolling. It is important not only to like the sushi itself but also to like preparing it for others :-) not to mention the way it is presented on the table afterwords. Sushi is also one of these dishes that you can order and eat in a restaurant and also feel good about it :-) NINE kitchen is that kind of a restaurant. I was really surprised because I haven't felt this kind of sushi taste in a restaurant before. It was like as if they really liked making these rolls and it was made with passion. Rice wasn't dry, ingredients were fresh and tasty, wine was delicious and I am talking about as simple as it gets (it was a simple japanese plum wine that you can get in Alma). What is also surprising is the price, I don't quite remember what was it actually but it was about 20 zlotys to get a very decent portion of 2-3 types of maki and a complimentary nigiri + all the other suplementary parts like wasabi, soy sauce, ginger etc. The interior of the restaurant is very pleasant, everything was the way it should be and just fitted together. I was there with Lawrence and another girl from the US and we even had a little chat with the owner. She lived in Canada for couple of years and apparently liked eating and making sushi there. What she says and I agree that sushi doesn't have to be so expensive to be good. My personal opinion is that sushi in Polish restaurants is overpriced without any apparent reason. Probably the owners think that it is so special and uncommon that it needs to be expensive. Well.. it doesn't and NINE kitchen is a proof of that. I will definitely come back and I will bring people there :-)

A nice place to eat sushi…read more The restaurant is placed in Kazimierz in Kraków which is an interesting district of the city. When I firstly walked in I saw very little of space but then waitress took me to the "basement" which looked more like a wine cellar, first thing that got my attention was the smell, the smell of bricks, it wasn't so nice but the more time I spent there the less I could smell it so eventually it wasn't that bad. Although in my opinion interior style didn't fit well to Korean themes. Anyway, I felt good in there, tables were big which is a plus because me and my friends had enough place for our meals and drinks. A good idea was electronic bell placed on a table which you could use to call the waitress. If it was just a bit more discreet with the sound it would be great. Sushi that we had was "Genji big sushi set". It was served on a wooden boat. The set itself was pretty tasty, but rolls were too big I wasn't able to eat them on one bite and it was hard for me to dip them in the soy sauce. Speaking more about the taste of rolls, the ones in tempura were yummy af. Even though I'm an experienced chopstick user sometimes sushi was just falling apart. However I have to say, plum teas that we got were delicious.

The place was empty on a Saturday afternoon it should be the first red flag, but we ignored it and ordered anyway. The food was DIS-GUS-TING. I've never eaten worse green curry in my life. The noodles in my soup were practically raw. You could tell that the chef just didn't give a fk about his job. The pad thai on the other hand was rather disappointing. The noodle was cooked in a wok that obviously lacks the necessary firepower. It failed to caramelize the sugar in the sauce, so the dish didn't acquire the characteristic taste. On the plus side the portion was large. Despite being unimpressed by the food, I had a positive experience at Tao overall. Firstly, that's because I got to drink a beer on a swing. Second, the beer showed up accompanied by a big bowl of wasabi peas--and I love wasabi peas. Third, there were bunnies in the garden. I'll definitely come back again another time and try something else on the menu. The ramen looks pretty good.

The sushi here is fantastic. I usually opt for the 26 piece samurai set (there are cheaper lunchtime deals at an even more reasonable price). Desserts are nice. There is a green theme going on here, you can order such delights as green tiramisu, green creme brulee and green lemonade. If you're not into sushi there are other options, I quite enjoyed the ramen burger, a normal burger but with a bun made of noodles instead of bread. To sum up, I love this place.
