Teachers were wonderful with our kid. She learned so much and became much more confident and independent.

I went to this school in 1983. Wondering if you have any old photos of Mrs. Plunket, Mrs. Dent or miss swim? Or any class photos

The Director Joanne, Assistant Director RJ, and Toddler Teachers Ms. Cami and Ms. Helen have been a God-send. They have and continuously uphold high standards, truly care about the wellbeing and education of your child, and are genuinely invested in having your family as a part of their community. It was a steep learning curve for myself, being anxious entrusting my treasure and heart to complete strangers, but through transparent communication and above and beyond efforts from the individuals above, trust and bonds were quickly built. The teachers are always focused on interacting with the children at their level and are so engaged during every moment of everyday. Both teachers put in so much time and effort, not only for the children, but also the classroom environment, so that the children truly get the best experience possible!! The consistency of attendance with the teachers are also outstanding and rare for the field!! My husband and I truly feel so grateful for these 4 individuals in helping our child during this crucial development period in her life and for helping us, her parents, get through the difficult pages of these early chapters **pictures depicting children have been edited and screenshotted to protect their privacy**

From the very beginning, the environment has felt warm, welcoming, and supportive. The teachers and admin staff are so kind and caring, and it's clear they truly love what they do. They always take a few minutes to chat during drop-off and pick-up, which makes me feel connected and reassured about how my little one's day is going. The staff always rave about my little one and how cute and wonderful they are. Warms my heart. One of my favorite things is receiving pictures throughout the day. It's so comforting to see my little one smiling, playing, and being well cared for while I'm at work. I also really appreciate how the teachers partner with parents and share Montessori activities we can try at home. It's been so special to learn simple ways to support my child's development and continue some of the same learning and exploration outside of school. I'm so grateful for the care and attention the staff provides, and it has given me such peace of mind knowing my baby is in such good hands. I would absolutely recommend Evergreen Academy Montessori to other families looking for a nurturing, supportive environment for their children.

Our 3 year old daughter has been going to Victoria Montessori for about 8 months. We were looking…read morefor a preschool with a balance of structured activities, and exploration oriented learning. The larger, more "traditional" preschools we visited were often chaotic, and the teachers looking frazzled. The environment at Victoria Montessori was calmer, and felt less like we were putting our kid in a bounce house for the whole day. The educational philosophy of the Montessori style is evident from the many activities they have set out. The school is family run; Sandra (the director) and her family are quite kind and patient with the kids. Sandra is more involved with the administrative aspects of the school, but she is still there every day and our daughter likes her. The others, Melissa and Ms. Kenley (who are there part-time) are very sweet and take a genuine interest in the well-being of the kids. Melissa is often there in the morning and is always cheerful, and helps get our daughter excited for the day even when she's a little sleepy from dropping her off early. Gary and BJ, who help open and close the school, are also very friendly and good with the kids. It's hard to know how what your child is doing at school every day, but since she's started, with a little help she can count to 100 and do simple addition/subtraction, she knows all the letters and can start sounding out words, and can write recognizable letters on her own. When we're at the bookstore or library, she recognizes books (by the cover) that she's seen at school and can tell us what the story is about. Of course, so much of your child's development is reinforced by what you're doing at home, but we're very happy with how she's progressing at school. At a minimum, we all like her teachers, she tells us she has a good day almost every day, and comes home with art or letter tracing she's worked on. Outside of school hours (8:45 to 3:15) there isn't really any active teaching or structured activity and the school is day-care, though this is typical of all pre-school programs. They do provide snacks, although it's not always the most nutritious (animal crackers, or a muffin). Sometimes on Friday afternoons after school hours, they show Disney movies, but otherwise don't have screen time during the rest of the week. The outdoor play area could use some renovation, but maybe that will come when they get more kids. At time of writing, there are only 7-10 kids there each day (fewer in summer) with 2 or 3 teachers. If you're considering bringing your child here, do ask Sandra and the teachers about their teaching philosophy and decide if it's a good fit for your family. Nothing can replace the parenting that takes place when are home with your child, but we're grateful for the love and support that Victoria Montessori has offered for our daughter.

Having worked in one for many years I know how hard it is to give every child the attention he deserves. I also thought that a while a Montessori school would have been a better fit for my little guy it would be too expensive. I was pleased to find that the rates at VMS are very affordable. Even more comforting was the fact that he was their first student! So I knew that he would have an incredibly easy transition from being at home. I know that both Mr. Randy and Mrs. Sandra love having my little monster in their class and it makes me feel great knowing that he is happy there. The one thing that would get them a 5 star rating from me is if they took electronic payments like cards.

The teachers are very talented and the small class sizes allow students to get the individualized attention they need to progress from their personal starting point. We consistently get feedback from their current teachers on our girls' love of learning and their intellectual curiosity. While the Montessori approach has a big impact on this, the way in which the OMV teachers and staff use this approach with the kids is the real reason for this. We started our oldest daughter at another Montessori school in the Edmonds area. We did not know what good Montessori education looked like until we arrived at OMV out of frustration with the level of teaching and progression at the other school. OMV gave our daughter the attention and help she needed to progress her abilities, and she entered 1st grade with a solid foundation that continues to serve her well. The other significant advantage of OVM is the enrichment they do with the kids. They have a naturalist that comes each week to work with the kids. My daughters loved this time, so much so that they have maintained a connection with this outdoor school and continue to do camps and classes with them. They also get instruction in a foreign language (Chinese), yoga, and music. It is hard to find another school in the area that has such a well rounded curriculum for little kids. I highly recommend Olympic View Montessori!

The facility (even the current temporary one at North City Elementary where the whole school has been moved for 1 year while a brand new facility is built at the long-time site next to Meridian Park Elementary) is fantastic, complete with multiple indoor and outdoor play spaces to keep kids stimulated. The curriculum is evidence-based, designed around current best practices in early childhood learning. The teachers regularly have opportunities and requirements for continuing education and development. My son's class of 16 has 4 teachers throughout the day-- one has a certification and 15+ years experience in Montessori education, two have bachelor's degrees in early childhood education, one is working on a master's degree in it and holds certifications in play and learn as well as empathy facilitation. My very energetic son is eager to go in the mornings, and happy (and tired) when he comes home. And because this preschool/preK is part of the school district, it prepares kids for an easy transition to Shoreline public kindergarten. We are thrilled with the Children's Center, and feel very lucky to have such a high quality program so close by.
