This stop is the closest CTA stop to my new home. I have several nearby Metra stations to chose…read morefrom since there are several in the city toward this end and the CTA on top of that. Although I love Metra (comfort, reliability, QUIET CARS), what the CTA has going for it is ease. I can take this single conveyance from Cumberland to the Loop and walk a block to my workplace, as opposed to when I take Metra. There's a parking garage at Cumberland so you can park and ride. The cost of taking the CTA, even with the much higher parking rate ($6, and Metra only costs $2) is about the same or maybe a couple bucks cheaper. The station is a bit run down. I'm not sure if I'll feel comfortable taking it in a few weeks when the time change happens since the parking garage is dark and the station area itself is under construction and a bit dank as well. But I'm glad to have multiple options for getting to work.

Some updating and cleaning is desperately needed. The system is a bit overwhelming and not…read moreintuitive for a newbie. A ride from the lot to the airport will run you $5/pp. Had I know k would have hailed a ride share. Best pricing for the parking lot is on various websites so Google around. The city doesn't allow for long term parking for 1 month or more so you'll have to use a 3rd party. Just keep up with the QR or screenshot your confirmation and the lady at the booth knows what to do.

Dee Road Metra Station - Never saw a sign saying I needed to pay for parking.

Dee Road is a great station. It's relatively new, I think; a bit over a decade. The station is part…read moreof the UP-NW line, terminating in Harvard on the north end and at Ogilvie Transportation Center (aka Northwestern Station) in the city. Dee Road has a good amount of parking and when I used this station there was plenty of it at 7:30 a.m. Parking is only $2 per day, which I think is standard at Metra stations. I didn't realize that the parking spots are numbered because the spaces themselves are not; there are wires several feet above the parking spots with numbers assigned. You'll need that number to pay for parking at the meter, so don't make the mistake I did. You can also download a parking app to pay for your parking. Though there's a building here, there is no agent; it's a shelter only. But a nice shelter, and a large one, which is great to have in the inclement weather. You can purchase a ticket via the Ventra app or you can purchase one on the train itself, which you can only do with cash.

It's very easy to park here and not realize you need to pay! I received at $50 ticket…read more I am not a regular commuter, I just visit Chicago once in a while for fun. There was not a sign at the lot entrance or near where I parked stating that it was a paid lot. I parked on the north end of the lot and went up the stairs and didn't see any notification about paying for parking. Looking at Google Earth it appears that there is a small sign, but it wasn't in an area where I would have noticed it. Also, the information on the metra website does not indicate that it is a paid lot.

I'm…read morereally surprised by the previous reviews and glad that I read them AFTER my experience with Park Ridge Taxi. I've used Chicago city taxis in the past for transportation between home and O'Hare and can say that I have not been particularly happy with the service or cleanliness of the taxis, especially the awful experience of having to wait in the city taxi line at O'Hare. I recently moved from Chicago to Park Ridge so I thought I would give Park Ridge Taxi a try this past weekend for taxi service from home to O'Hare. The phone agents were pleasant and efficient. My taxi pick-up from home arrived right at the time I requested if not a couple of minutes early. The driver who took me to O'Hare was great. His taxi was clean and he advised me of how to request a Park Ridge taxi when I returned and where to wait for suburban taxi service. When I landed back at O'Hare and deplaned, I called Park Ridge taxi and was told it would be a 10 minute wait. So by the time I made it through the terminal and down to the suburban taxi stand, the taxi drove right up. This driver was also very nice and had a very clean taxi. The charge seemed comparable to me to what I would pay using a city taxi service so no problem there with feeling I had been overcharged. Would definitely use Park Ridge Taxi again!
