I had to double check that I was at the right address because when I arrived it was dark and the hotel was somewhat secluded. I have family that lives in Chicago that we had dinner in the hotel dining room and it was a little eerie because we were the only ones there. I had French Onion soup that was really good but we could not help but to continually note that there was a lack of people around. This is definitely an older Hilton property and does not look like it has seen any renovations in the last 15-20 years. Not that it looked bad but it definitely did not give the "modern hotel" vibe. The phone in the room was very old and the same model phone that was on my desk when I started my first job pre-2000. The room was spacious, clean and had a very comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly. Overall if you are looking for the modern Hilton experience, this ain't it. If you are looking for a decent place to stay this will do.

!!DO NOT RISK IT!! NOT SAFE! DO NOT STAY AT THE HOTEL!!…read more I stayed one night at the hotel after a company holiday party that was held in their banquet hall. Because our company had a party there, I received a great rate and thought it would be a good idea to stay so that I didn't drink and drive, and spend some time with my boyfriend and relax. Overnight, probably between 1-5 AM my catalytic converter was cut out of my vehicle. First red flag-- they had signs on all the parking spots saying they are NOT responsible for lost or stolen items, so I specifically parked RIGHT in front of the main lobby doors. And it still did me no good, despite cameras and all, they didn't catch them. Do NOT be fooled by the fact that the address is in Northbrook, IL. Just because other areas are wealthy, this specific area is NOT safe. The police told me that they have a group of people doing this often in the area that they cannot catch them. Between fake license plates, and the last two times they tried arresting them, the criminals were shooting at them and trying to run them over, they can't stop them. So if the police aren't stopping them, who will? My $99 hotel night turned into a $1500 hotel night. Do not risk staying at this hotel. On top of the financial stress, I am dealing with the emotional and mental stress of trying to get an auto shop to fix all the damage they did. Single parent of two kids, and this is NOT what I needed. The hotel is WELL AWARE that this happens, the front desk lady even knew that "in the past they could check the cameras across the street" and I wish I had read other reviews that stated it had happened to them. They should be held accountable for not having a safe environment for their guests and not increase security at night. Not only that, but parking is NOT free -- so whomever wrote that in the review was mistaken. They charge each car per night. This hotel should be shut down. So please listen, do yourself a favor, and do not stay here.

The beds were comfortable and the linens nice. The kitchen and bath were tastefully done with granite and nice fixtures. All was in working order. The location was perfect. A short walk to the Brown Line, easy on street parking, lots of fun places to eat nearby. West Roscoe had an upscale family neighborhood vibe. We ate at the Turkish place and the Vietnamese place - both very good. A note to anyone who books #3. Make sure that you are comfortable with 2 flights of steep stairs. Make sure you know how to reboot a WIFI. And, ask about the A/C which must be on some sort of preprogrammed setting. We happened to be there when it was quite hot, so we had to often set the A/C to manual to cool off. This condo was a great home base for our 4 day weekend. It's always fun to be able to come "home" after a long day of sightseeing and relax and enjoy each others company in a comfortable space.

The guesthouse was our "base of operations". The place was immaculate and had everything we seemed to need in the well appointed kitchen. I even put the backyard grill to good use one night. We go well acquainted with the #50 bus to get us anywhere in the city. Our "wired" set took full advantage of the fast wi-fi connection. I had wanted to stay in a hotel, but my wife thought this would be more "homey" and see was right, it was a great decision. The only downside to us was that the toaster seemed to be hard-wired to the smoke alarm, but once we figured out to turn the exhaust fan one before we did any cooking all was well.

I definitely do not wanna give a 5 star reading to the Indian woman at the front because she was condescending and rude to me and my family. I had come down and waited to talk to her in line. A black man cut me in line, she saw, and she did not say anything about it. I told her that I wanted to get toothpaste, and she told me I had to wait even though I was in line to speak first. This man spoke rudely to my underage son, who is just a child. He picked up the phone and she told him to stop and put the customer who was in front, also told him to stop in a rude way to stop picking up the phone and calling the front desk. I was in complete shock, so I did not realize what was going on and why he was talking to my son in that manner. We buy even more so than the rude customer. The man in front of me I was appalled that the woman at the front desk was not being professional and did not say anything to that man, because I, as a mother, of course, was in shock. She needs to stick up for her patrons. That was at the hotel line. Now, I've booked four different rooms for our family members and we were there for multiple days and I had asked for only six little packets of toothpaste and she practically screamed in shock at how many that was. Even though we were there for multiple days and had multiple rooms. I only needed to get through that morning before I could go to the store to buy more toothpaste. The hotel rooms themselves are pretty good, because they have separate rooms and a full kitchen. But I will never stay here again because of that rude woman. She doesn't care about her customers OBVIOUSLY and screamed about needing "so much" toothpaste when we were 5 families staying here over the course of multiple days. Absolutely ridiculous.

She suggested Hyatt House since the location is convenient for both of us. Upon arriving, my friend had the valet meet me at the entrance and sashayed into the hotel like she owns the place! We situated ourselves in the bar area and the front desk attendant, Olivia, promptly walked behind the bar to take our orders since there was no bartender on duty at the time. One brownie point for Olivia. Although my choice of poison is simple to make, it is unusual. Olivia admitted she doesn't know how to make it, but with the recipe I gave her, it was perfectly done. Two brownie points for Olivia. The hotel lobby was nice and quiet on a Saturday night with guests returning from their venture sporadically. I was able to catch up with my friend, shared many laughs, and gained a lot of insights with no-nonsense advice from her. Oliva quietly checked up on me and my dear friend every so often. She was never intrusive. 2 more brownie points for Olivia! To be honest, the idea of meeting for a drink and discussing at the hotel bar never crossed my mind. The bar/lounge area was spacious and clean. I enjoyed the experience tremendously. I'd highly recommend a casual meeting and a drink at the hotel bar than a typical bar where the noise level can be clamorous. Located in the heart of Evanston, there are plenty of shops and eateries within walking distance. In addition to valet parking, many available (pay) street parking along Chicago Avenue in front of the hotel are available. Of course, Northwestern University is also within walking distance.
