Stayed here, did some research, their website says "Our guest rooms provide comfortable and quiet accommodations for 130 people in the Towers and Maria House combined. All rooms, single or double, are equipped with individually controlled heating and air conditioning."
This is 100% accurate and COMPLETE, because rooms have NOTHING else, WIFI did not work, I could get WIFI, but no internet, it had a phone but not a working phone, no coffee maker, no hair dryer, no TV, no charging stations, etc. Granted, I did not ask if these things were available, but it seems reasonable they would be for a place holding itself out as a place with "comfortable and quiet accommodations."
As to a couple traveling, one twin bed, in the handicapped room, was best option available. Maybe a couple kids would sleep well in that, but 2 adults?? Friday night, went down for dinner immediately after dropping bags in room, info in print says diner from 6:00 to 6:45 and it was already after 6:00. Ask desk assistant where dinning room was pointed me down stairs, I go down stairs and no dinner on Friday. I wonder why desk person did not say "no dinner tonight". I am like "ummmm...." Why did they tell me dinner at 6, when there is no diner? Went to restaurant to eat....
I tried to call front desk and ask about a room with a TV, no working phone. So I went to front desk, was told there is only one on the whole compound and its in a locked room I was not allowed in that room??? Went back to room.
After 30 minutes in the room really trying to make it work, we checked out, there is a $25 per key card not turned in (???), and as I was checking out was VERY quickly told there would be NO REFUND!!! I did not even ask, I was being polite, humble, in hopes they would have seen their unreasonable position and offered a complete refund, which seems to be the Christian thing to do, instead it seems they knew their unreasonable position and doubled down on it. We moved to a Sheraton about a mile away that is rather nice and cost less (with my corporate discount) per night WITH breakfast and dinner, and a working phone, TV, internet, hair dryer, room service, etc.
We paid Techny Towers for 8 meals, which conveniently were not scheduled with the meeting I was attending, again, no refund, only comment from staff was "sorry, but I hope it gets better" comment from the person I had been interacting with. I heard that five or six times. Just exactly how that was supposed to happen is beyond me. Seems that is a line they have gotten REALLY used to saying with a manufactured smile.
I travel for business extensively, I own a mid-size company, I understand customer service and client relations. I have left hundreds of reviews and less than 2% are 3 star or below. My expectations are wildly reasonable, I am not someone who needs luxury accommodations. I have had much better experiences at $40/night hotels. No one who travels much at all would not have seen their position as wildly unreasonable, rising almost the level of a scam. read more
